This was a fantastic place to watch the Liverpool game! The bartender was fantastic about getting people water and serving a full house as quickly as he could. Would absolutely recommend! No idea about the food though lol

Some of the best beers in the world from the best beer manufacturing country in the world, Belgium, and food to go with it...Yes, please. The bartender was great. She actually knew her beers and wasn't just back there pouring without knowledge (nothing bothers me more from a bartender; see one of my previous, very brief bar reviews). She convinced me to branch out to find some new flavors aside from my Chouffe preferences and I appreciate that. I also went with the steak sandwich option as opposed to the burger that initially caught my eye. It was a solid, but messy choice as the bread used falls completely apart spilling the sandwich everywhere. A proper French baguette would have been ideal as opposed to a soggy-ing hoagie roll. I got a dessert also, but mostly because I was teetering on drunk and needed something else to soak up the libations--enter the Belgian waffle. It wasn't memorable. It reminded me of the ones you get from the vending machine in the metro stations in Paris but luckily with less added sugar so that was appreciated. This was a solid spot with a small ruelle (alleyway) in Brussels kind of feel. I'll come back before the impending tariffs make it too expensive to import European alcohol.

Bouillabaisse mussels with seafood, saffron, garlic, tomato

Granville Moore's is a DC institution that I've been going to on and off since about 2011. They are one of the best places in DC to get Belgian beer, mussels, and frites. On my recent visit, I shared two mussels ($26 each) and one frites ($10) among three people. This was enough food, especially with the bread they include for the mussel broth (we got three baskets). We had a couple beers to go along with it. We had the Champignons mussels with crimini, oyster, shitake & button mushrooms in white wine cream sauce plus the Bouillabaisse mussels with seafood, saffron, garlic, tomato. I usually get the classic Mariniere (white wine, garlic, herbs). Both types were good. The bouillabaisse reminded me of the Mariniere in terms of broth flavor. I didn't get any tomato. It came with some shrimp and white fish pieces. The champignons came with a cream sauce that wasn't too thick. It was also good but I wish I had a bit stronger flavor. One of the downsides of mussels as a food is that they are served in broth, yet the broth doesn't really stick to them. Bread is necessary to mop up the sauce. The fries were excellent: thin, extra crispy, perfectly salted. They come with dipping sauces but I didn't need them. Our beers were all good as expected. We had a few from the happy hour menu. GM offers a good happy hour with food discounts but I wish they offered a slightly better beer happy hour. The beers with the better discount ($5 or $7 each) are are canned, not much to my liking, and don't really represent their Belgian beer menu. A few other beers on draft are discounted only $1 which makes them steep at $12-$14 each. When I visited, they were out of a couple, further reducing the selection. Service was friendly if a bit slow, because one bartender was serving all the tables and manning the bar on the first floor. I love GM's decor -- a really old school, wood and brick spot. It's unique in DC. I would recommend it on the decor alone.

Granville Moore's is a hidden gem (?) in the H Street Corridor, with amazing drinks, food and ambiance. I'm not sure if it's a hidden gem, but nobody I knew really talked about it much. This place deserves way more praise!! The Belgian beers are delicious as always, and the menu is extensive. Reminds me a lot of Monk's Cafe in Philly, which is also fantastic. Service here is really fast and friendly! The bartenders work super hard as do the kitchen staff. You can tell they've been around for a while and know what they're doing. To eat, I had the mussels and fries. I had never had mussels before, and they set a pretty high bar here! They were super tasty, and I really enjoyed being able to dip the fries in the yummy sauces they provide. I love the vibe in here. It's very old school pub-like, and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area. Thank you Granville Moore's!

This place is a gem located on H st , it resembles an Irish Pub, I bring all friends here and they love it. Food is excellent, happy hour is great and the dishes are pretty shareable. Great selection of yum beers, the service is pretty good as well. Make sure to try the mussels and the Brussels Sprouts.

I stumbled upon this adorable restaurant/bar as an escape from the rain after a disappointing ramen meal. I was still hungry and was excited to find a Belgian restaurant, as there aren't any in the city where I live. I'm so glad I found Granville Moore's and I will definitely be back! I ordered the mussels mariniere and they were fantastic!! Incredibly flavorful, cooked perfectly, and served with delicious fresh bread to mop up the buttery garlic heaven left over in the bowl. The beer selection was extensive, but I didn't dive in during this visit. Service was quick and very friendly. The building itself has a tremendous amount of history, although I'm not sure what the story is as the historic sign was outside and it was raining when I visited. It was beautiful and created a unique atmosphere for a fun night out. I will definitely be back!

This was delicious. The mussels are said to be famous here and boy was that true! There was a generous portion in the bowl and it was sauced to perfection. The service was kind even with the room being a little cramped. I loved the Belgian atmosphere, like it was old Brussels! Recommend.

These are only served at brunch. Check times first if you want waffles is what I'm saying. When I look at photos of this restaurant it must have undergone a redesign. I'm impressed with the photos of the outdoor decks and greenhouse. They look charming and cozy. The inside of Belga is completely modern and simple with a massive, gorgeous, antique round wall pendant upon entering. I think this exquisite piece of architecture has been there for at least 17 years judging by one Yelp photo. There is really not much else on their walls except for a gigantic high-gloss photo of an adorable baby pig's nose. The gorgeous miniature brass LED light in the foyer area adds much charm. The Belga Cafe beer and wine lists were impressive and exhaustive. The table of contents for their beer and wine list is 37 pages! Under beers, here are the categories: 1.) Gluten-free and Non-alcoholic 2.) Pilsners, white and golden ales 3.) Red & Brown Ales, Saison 4.) Exceptional Triples & Quadruples, Abbey 5.) Belgian Trappist 6.) Americans, Belgian Ale 7.) The Lambic Family, the Big Bottles. Humbling, as I have much to learn about beer. The Straffe Hendrick Tripel - "deep malt character, rum and pears" - was glorious. It was everything a beer should be and enough for me to order it as a second beer. Strong and malty. Blanche de Belga is my absolute favorite. It's a white beer with aromas of citrus fruit and notes of orange and lime. It's light and how I love a beer. This was my first choice. There was a rich, syrupy peach mel - Pêche Mel - beer I also enjoyed. I do not know if this peach mel was from Brasserie Dubuisson Frères sprl, Bush or Scaldis. The mussels were artfully presented - with gorgeous greens and onions - but the broth was maybe 1/4 or so of the portion. The mussels were delicious, though most fell out of the top layer. The selection of mayonnaise and butters served with our mussels was impressive. The French baguette - dusted with something that looked like green matcha powder - came with a basil butter. We actually couldn't taste the bacon notes, and he said it was bacon, but we enjoyed the basil. The baguette also came with seaweed butter. It was a surprising pairing with mussels, though interesting. I liked the complexity of the flavors in the seaweed butter, ultimately. The burger was monumental in height. We ordered it medium well but the meat had little moisture even for a well-cooked burger. In fact, it tasted sturdy and I was quickly thirsty after one bite. This $25 burger left me with more of a question than satisfaction. The service - however - was extraordinary! It was the best I've had in a very long time. The new manager is 5-stars by every definition. He delivered over and above what we asked for. He knew what he was doing. He surprised and delighted us with his gracious service. He made our experience memorable and I would go back for that level of service, the abundant selection of beer and to try the waffles at brunch!

For awareness, they limit dining in to about an hour and a half - because the restaurant is fairly small, they want folks to make their seats available for other guests pretty quickly. They weren't rude about enforcing this time limit, but they definitely tell you up front and quickly gather your orders/plates to help move you though the meal quickly.
