They have a lot of food I've never had before! :))) Definitely recommend! Employees are friendly

Food court

I've definitely been to better H-Mart than this one. This Upper Darby one is not the most convenient one to go: 1) first it's hard to find free parking. We ended up paying $2 for 2-hour parking; 2) the layout of this one is less convenient--food court is on the upper level. One way in and one way out. The aisles are more cramped than other H-Mart. It feels less clean and tidy too. Yet, the food price at the food court is very reasonable. I would probably drive to the one in Elkins Park next time.

I absolutely love Hmart and I remember when it opened in this location. I used to live in Upper Darby and with an Asian mother, I frequented H Mart very often (and I would always get Anh Hong pho as a treat afterward). Now that I've moved into the city, I don't go as often as I'd like but whenever I'm craving a taste of my childhood I always go to Hmart and they'll have what I'm looking for. I headed there today looking for items to make onigiri but I wasn't sure if they'd have it all but of course they did and then some! If you're looking to try out some Asian treats, fruits, or food in general - this is the place to go! Don't forget they also have a food court upstairs which has AMAZING food!

a variety of signs

Wanted to try the HMart in Upper Darby after such positive experiences at the HMart in Philadelphia. As always, we first visited the food court for lunch (up an escalator), which was smaller than that in Philadelphia, but everything we ordered was terrific: Dol Sot Bibimbap from Jian Korean Cuisine remained piping hot throughout my meal and Omelet Rice from Mongshil Tongtong was tasty, too. There was also another Korean offering, a sushi spot (seemed to be closed), two bubble tea/boba spots, and some other non-food offerings (e.g., CPA, hair salon). The grocery store portion was much smaller than that in Philadelphia, but had the basics. One additional note, the parking out front is metered with meters that accept quarters. Although they say you can use an app, it did not seem to be working for us or for fellow parkers we consulted at the time. I saw a sign at the register when checking out that there's a parking lot, but it was not obvious to us when we pulled up.

Seafood kalguksoo, kimchi

Got the seafood kalguksoo, which was delicious and huge! I've never seen a bigger bowl. It came with kimchi, which was the best I've ever eaten. Great value for about $12.

I forgot what this is but it was amazing

Great food, great supermarket in the first floor. Definitely would recommend been here several times I forget what the name of the meals are... but I like trying different things -all good

Shopping at H-mart was a wonderful learning experience. It was my first time in the store and I was so excited to explore the Asian food items. H-mart is a kinda medium-sized supermarket it has two levels, the bottom is pretty much the market side and the top level, I believe is the food court. I didn't manage to go to the upper level. H-mart has items such as Asian snacks, convenience items such as packaged noodles, produce, meats basically everything that you would find at any market just with a Asian twist. Last week I wanted to make korean bb.q chicken so I was looking for a authentic korean sauce to compliment my chicken. A lovely store associate helped me find the perfect sauce that I was looking for and it was delicious. Overall I will definitely visit H-mart again to explore the top level! Oh and prices are affordable and reasonable.

[859] 1/5/2019 Hmart I stopped into this market due to a friend's recommendation. Parking is tough out in front of the building, but I was able to find a metered space across the street. This market is different but in a good way. I was able to find all sorts of veggies and fruits. The fresh seafood section was awesome as I was able to purchase live crabs and all types of shrimp. Picked up some prepared sushi and it was good that I'll definitely can stop in for just this item. There are tons of other Korean type foods that are available. Most I haven't heard/seen before but the items are popular. I can tell by the large fresh packaging. They also have a few small grocery aisles. There is an upstairs but I have not visited that portion yet. The store is packed as I visited on a Saturday afternoon. The only reason this place was not 4 stars was because the store is tight so it was hard to move around. I had to leave my cart an aisle over while I shopped. Only a few cashiers but the line moved quickly. I'll definitely be back.

We did shopping here today for veggies, fruits and noodles. They carry our favorite rice as well Organic Haiga Mai. H-Mart is the best place to try something new, they carry a large variety of fruits and vegetables, grocery items, fish and meats, many soy based products. You can find many international products and ready made frozen foods. I often ask another customer what they are buying and how to prepare the item. My latest new discovery is sweet potato tops. The leaves and stems are delicious.

I love Hmart! For me, it's worth the 1.5 hour drive. My home town has Asian Markets, but nothing close to what I can find at Hmart. I could spend at least an hour walking around looking at all the different varieties of foods. Today there were quite a few ladies cooking up samples and lots of specials. I definitely try to stock up due to the distance. Don't forget to go upstairs and eat in the "food court." Plenty of choices and great food!

Ask the Community - H Mart - Upper Darby

Is the food court BYOB?

No, this is food court that has a two bubble tea stores, and several takeout restaurants that serve Korean, Chinese, Japanese variations. It is adjacent to a cosmetic store and several home products stores. There are restaurants around the H-Mart…

Does this Hmart sell alcohol?

No, was literally just there 10 min ago , not yet.

How crowded is the store?

I haven't been in a few weeks but it wasn't bad. Plenty of room for distancing. The layout is a little more condensed than some of the huge mega grocery stores but I did not feel uncomfortably crowded at all.

Would like to see a bingsoo or Korean cafe and maybe more restaurants here in the near future if possible?

Does this location sell burro bananas?

We sell different products all Hmart locations. The fastest way to find the answer to your question is to call the customer service in Hmart Upper Darby. (610) 734 1001 Thank…

Then it had 2-3 sections of prepared food choices like turkey, ribs, meatloaf, fried foods, various steamed vegetables, rice. No onion rings tho! I was told there was a cold salad bar but I'm sleepy today and didn't see it. The cashier almost bit my head off when I asked her about it. So def stop in, it's a great store w unique areas I've not seen at other stores but don't ask questions. Just get your groceries and get in and get out. Cashiers are slow as mud. But I'll be back and I signed up for the card too.

At times the lines are long because there are no other registers open to help get the lines down. You end up having to bag your own groceries all the time. It's hard to find good ppl that know where things are in the store & they work there. They need to do better with their reward system. Ppl don't want to have to spend a certain amount of money to get something free. They should be able to earn points to get stuff free. I think from now on I will be sticking with shopping at Giants.

I took it with a grain of salt, because 12 year olds are not notorious for their discerning palate. He was kind enough to bring me a menu, and off we went! We ordered (5) wings to start (student loved them). They were good--have had better. I ordered the cheese steak, was piping hot when we picked it up, a respectable amount of meat and extra cheese as ordered--very good. My husband ordered the Curry Goat. It was excellent. Tender pieces of goat (on the bone, think small little riblets) with a flavorful yet not too spicy curry sauce, rice and bean mix and excellent fried cabbage. The ratio of beans to rice was a tad low, but still very good. It is an unassuming storefront among row homes, neighbors hanging out on stoops and such were friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

My favorite was the Jamaican jerk chicken, but the Oxtail and curry chicken were very good as well! I wasn't a big fan of the goat, but it had nothing to do with the cooking though. Just too many little bones in it. Loved the beans and rice! Probably the best I've ever had! Great find, will definitely return!

Sure I have to go to other grocery…read morestores/ markets once in a while to stock up on some items, but Aldis is all I need for basic staple grocery items. I'm not sure why that one reviewer said they don't accept credit cards, that's not true I pay credit all the time. The one con, is that sometimes the lines are incredibly long, like down half the store (an entire aisle), but even then it's not that bad - most of the cashiers are very fast and efficient. Where else can you get a bag of pretzels or tortilla chips for 92 cents, or fake girl scout cookies (which are really good IMO) for $1-2 dollars per box depending on which type of cookie. The only produce I don't usually get there is mushrooms unless I'm cooking the same day, because those seem to go bad quickly. I also love how many dairy free milk options there are, lots of vegan/vegetarian meatless crumbles and meatballs, tofu and many other healthy options. I also enjoy their rotating aisle, which you can find all kinds of random seasonal things. For those that complain about having to pay for a plastic bag.. just saying there are such things as reusable tote bags and it's an incentive to not use plastic for the environment.. Also the whole idea is that at Aldis you bag your own stuff, and also return your own shopping cart. These reductions in staff is what allows these awesome low prices. I went to Target a couple weeks ago for some items, and I forgot how much "regular grocery stores" cost but man did it make me miss Aldis! Over the last couple of years I've noticed more and more vegan/healthy items added to their stores and I hope to continue to see the trend .
