This HEB is located between O'Connor and Nacogdoches. I love this HEB because it has everything I need and I don't over spend from my grocery list mission. They always have fresh new deals, they have fresh meat, and good deals on seafood. Beautiful bouquets are waiting for you at the entrance along with potted plants inside and outside, enough to fulfill any green thumb out there. Fresh sushi is made daily here and it's not bad really. I don't need to go anywhere but here to find what I'm looking for. Occasionally they have Hawaiian bread which I love and look forward to finding, and if I'm lucky the special apples I'm looking for. This place is so centrally located to most anywhere that I prefer it sometimes then getting lost at the huge Bulverde HEB, lol. Today we found all of our groceries plus a birthday cake for a very special girl! I feel fortunate to have this wonderful grocery store! Employees here are always attentive and can answer all of your concerns. The manager is a total sweetheart and can be seen helping the cashiers out, he's so down to earth that he won't hesitate to bag your groceries! You can tell everyone that works here is happy to work here too! This was my go-to grocery store during the pandemic when I would pick them up, always dependable, safe, clean and on top of their grocery updated prices, never have to get the better prices like at Walmart and they always have most of their registers open when it gets busy. Always the best prices at HEB too! You'll find me here doing my groceries because of the convenience of having Chase, McDonalds, and Little Caesars Pizza. If I'm hungry after all my grocery shopping I just stop by conveniently at any of these fast food restaurants with my kids in the car. Come check this grocery store out it's the best! read more

I have been shopping at this particular location for years and it has gone down a bit. I stopped by yesterday and always purchase Boars head select meats and deli cheese. The young lady started my order of unsalted turkey breast but disappeared to the back to grab something else that I requested due to the refrigerator area being out of order and everything being stored in the back. While waiting patiently flies were landing on the meat that she started cutting for me that was left opened on the counter. I left immediately. I will be shopping elsewhere.Please train your employees regarding safety and sanitation. I tried to contact management of course no one responded. I have talked to multiple Managers at HEB to nauseum. Here is the bottom line. They care more about their profit margin than their customers. They refuse to stock products when the store is closed, so during the Covid-19 Pandemic, that is killing thousands of Americans, they are preventing shoppers from being able to social distance, that is a recommendation from the CDC. This location is your typical run down store. It has all the amenities of an HEB( as far I can tell); but is old and undersized. I feel like they are shoving 10 lbs of stuff in a 5 lbs sack. The employees have been awesome as expected at all the HEB stores I've been at. I will definitely use them again; but will opt for the one on kitty hawk because the size and selection. read more

I told her what I needed help with and she went to the back and 10 minutes later she came back to me and said she's going to lunch and just left. I've gone to this heb since before I can remember and going to other hebs is a chore because I feel like this heb has the best and most intuitive layout, everything is simple to find and I swear it has more stuff in a smaller store than the newer and bigger hebs. I really like this heb and I think the other hebs should take a note on how to set up their stores from this onee. read more

I despise this HEB location. I used the word despise because using the stronger word that is more accurate may get my Yelp account closed. It's also important for me to note here that I love HEB grocery stores. I have reviewed many all over town and have had 4 or 5 star experiences at all of them. It's not the chain that was a problem today, it was just this specific location. The sad thing to note before I write this review is that the big remodel of this location is now finished. And it's still this completely horrible, waste of space, sucks all the happiness out of life, place. And it's also important to note that the **only** reason I came to this location while at my nearby relative's house is because I (wrongly) assumed that since it had been renovated it would be vastly improved from its previous horrible existence. So, you walk in and you can notice the renovation. Things that have improved from before is that it is noticeably cleaner, the signs are easier to read and store is better organized. Also, I didn't notice any bugs at all in the produce, which was a regular problem before. Things that haven't improved: the people who patron this location are just awful. Pushing, shoving, screaming at their children, wearing clothes with all types of ridiculous and offensive sayings, screaming into their cell phone more profanity in one sentence than I've likely used this entire year. I mean, honestly the crowd feels more like a rough bar than a grocery store. It's like the Twilight Zone in there. Service from employees is really below par. I mean REALLY. Try an experiment and ask an employee where to find something (in my case it was a jar of pimentos). What I experienced was an annoyed heavy sigh, visible eye roll and point to the aisle where I would find pimentos followed by saying out loud the number of the aisle. I don't really remember the exact number to which I was directed, but even after all that rude treatment the item for which I was searching turned out to be on a different aisle completely. Then fast-forward to check out. No, "Hi how are you doing?" like I've been so spoiled and accustomed to at nearly all other HEB locations. No helpful, friendly check out person asking if I found everything I needed, and no one to help bag the groceries at the end. OH! And ask for paper bags only to learn they were out. Of paper bags. In the entire store. And then given what have to be the cheapest plastic bags of all time. It makes no sense. At my neighborhood HEB (which I love and gave 5 stars) the plastic bags are completely different. Today, the bags I was using (and bagging myself of course) kept ripping before I could even load them into my cart. Just completely frustrating. And then, just as you finally pay and get out of the belly of the beast, you walk out to your car, which is parked in the parking lot, which is ready with one last slap to your (probably bright red already from anger) face: it's a huge hill. Push your heavy cart all the way up to that hill to your car and attempt to unload it as it continues to roll all around because, after all, it's on wheels and you're on a hill. During these times is not a time to fight over toilet paper. Especially if it's cheap toilet paper. HEB brand our best toilet paper is the worse. It comes apart easily also it makes chocolate jelly rolls after every wipe if you know what I mean. There is also a sour cream potato chip. YUK, no taste at all. Skip HEB brand foods if you can. Soooo what to say about H-E-G (yes G) ..hmm well starters. I despise this HEB. It's soooo small, the selection of organic and just overall food is terrible unless your into Takis and Alamo Packaging Candy . The veggies and fruits are usually 99.9% on its last leg. They carry roughly 5% organic fruits and veggies and 0% organic meats and cheese. Freakin bummer. The Rudi's organic bread was growing mold and I told the store manager on the floor and he wasn't surprised or enthusiastic to take it off the shelves either...wow. :/ Plus more than not ...there are some quite interesting people here to say the least and it gets worst during the evening hours...thanks but no thanks..this is like emergency HEB only...for toilet paper and organic milk (they at least have that) and for Cocoa Puffs..hey I'm not perfect :P read more

HEB on O'Conner Road has been my Grocer since we moved to San Antonio in 2004.  It is more convenient & closer than the Nacogdoches & Bulverde stores.  Twice a week come here to shop and buy basics, such as meat, milk, bread, eggs, ice cream, pastries, and fruits.  Their prices, especially HEB brands are much lower than the military commissaries.  My wife does most of our shopping at Randolph & elsewhere. Shop here  on Wednesdays which is beginning of their new sales week, to take advantage of their advertised sales and Sunday to pickup the Express News.  Several times filled prescriptions at HEB Pharmacy when these drugs were not available at Randolph Satellite Pharmacy. Before eye surgery obtained one of my three eyedrops (1.7ml) at HEB.  Shocked & bowled over when the  Pharmacist  said that would be $20.00.   Usually pay $2.78 for articifical tears.  She told me  that without Medicare my cost would have been $268.00.  Holy Smoke. Now, that would have been expensive. The Staff at HEB is always nice & accomodating.   Had a few qualms over this 14 year time period:  stockers blocking aisleways, not in stock, first in -  first out shelving arrangement, changes in expiration date,  products (milk, bread, fruits)  turning bad too soon.  However, Overall very happy with our own Texas HEBs surviving in a major competitive food  market, their prices, service and quality of their foods. read more

I really like this HEB location. They have nice and helpful employees. The store is clean. I love how they make fresh tortillas in store. The only thing I wish they would fix, if they can, is the parking lot. People drive crazy. There are merging lanes and noone knows who has right of way. read more

This locations customer service is terrible everyone has an attitude and don't want to engage at all with the customer I don't take up too much time no more than a minute and try not to bother people when you have questions you have questions and if they work around it it seems they would know some answers. 1 Star for the ridiculously small signs they put on their front doors after 9pm that notify customers the doors are closed. All night long, people walk all the way up to the door (20-30 ft), only to have a tiny sign inform that the doors are closed and that they need to walk to another door. I've been using the H-E-B for a long time, and my least favorite thing about it has to be its location. While convenient, it is placed in a busy intersection that makes it hell to to get out of-especially if you need to get to the other side of the road to get where you are going. I am a confident and experienced driver, but trying to shove my way through fast oncoming traffic with no turning lane makes my heart race with adrenaline in (in this case) an undesirable manner. With that said, I have no real problems with this H-E-B, they usually have what I am looking for, typically have sufficient lanes open, and I absolutely LOVE their meal deals they do every week. Being an impoverished student who is still interested in eating something besides ramen, I appreciate the profusion of coupons that are found at H-E-B. However, their deals are sometimes misleading. For instance, I went grocery shopping here yesterday, excited by the 3 for $1 sale on melons (YUM!), only to find that the melons were in fact $0.98 each...if you wanted the 3 for $1 you had to get their tiny, squishy, OVERRIPE and unlabeled melons rather than the huge display of attractive regularly sized ones in front of their fruit department. That was upsetting. I was also disappointed that they were completely out of my cereal, Post's Great Grains Crunchy Pecans. However, an employee did see my on my tiptoes trying to move the small number of other great grains cereals around looking for one that may have gotten misplaced and helped me move them around (to no avail) and let me know there was a truck coming in that night that might have it. Check out was quick, and the cashier was happy to come around to scan my heavier items and call for assistance to double check prices on my melons. I was displeased though that there was no bagger so I had to pack everything myself, and that display of the paper advertising the melon deal was not honored as there was NO SPECIFIED SIZE. That is just poor customer service in their attempt to bring in more people. Of course I do love that they have a lottery ticket machine (far more convenient than having to go to a gas station), and was surprised to see they had installed a video-conferencing system. Overall my experience was good-but it was just good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. There are better H-E-B's out there. Personally my favorite is the New Braunfels location across from where The Scooter Store used to be. Great selection, great employees, clean, beautiful produce, fresh squeezed orange juice, amazing bakery items, and a fruit salad bar. That is a 5 star H-E-B..this? Just average. read more

This is my local HEB. I love it but it can be improved. The parking lot is constantly busy and difficulty to navigate. I wish they had the same options as other HEBs in the SA area. I want the fresh squeezed juices, i want the special guacamole, i want the almond and cashew milk ice cream. I should have to go to the more affluent areas to get access to those food that i choose to consume. read more

GROSS. I love HEB, but this one is the worst. the PRODUCE section is disgusting. I was going to buy some lemons today only to find MOLDED lemons in plain view in the bin. I have heard people complain to the produce manager as to why this HEB has such gross produce but nothing is ever done. sad. I wanted to post a picture of the lemon bin but it won't let me.. Yeeeesshhh. The best way I know how to describe this location is it's 'The closest thing HEB has to being a Wal Mart'. By that I don't mean one stop shopping and only 2 lanes to check out at. I mean just the overall vibe of being in the store. Personally I avoid Wal Mart at all costs, so take that for what it's worth. Maybe I'm spoiled because of the HEB's that I typically shop at but, it just seemed a bit putrid by HEB standards. Selection was pretty scarce (again in comparison to other HEB). The layout seemed pretty backwards, I assume maybe it's an older location? The employees were still friendly, no issue there. I just kept finding myself going, 'oh, I'll have to get this instead'. Can you get by here, I'm sure you can but, there are much better spots. read more

I love going to HEB because they produce are one of the best. They are reasonable and they are fresh like they just pluck them out from their backyard. It's clean and they manage to stuff their products and always available. I would say rather than going to whole foods and other fu fu place i would recommend to just go and shop here and get better deals than anywhere else read more

I like this HEB, but they need another HEB closer to this one. No matter what day I go, this HEB is CROWDED to the bone. I've been in this HEB on a number of different days of the week and every time I come into this location it is crazy busy. They had a sign across from Rolling Oaks Mall saying FUTURE SIGHT OF HEB, but several months ago, no sign was there. It had been there at least 2 years and figured it had just worn out because of the weather. We asked someone at this location and said that the one across from Rolling Oaks Mall was put on hold for now. I was dumbfounded. They remodeled this HEB recently and I like how they reorganized it. They said they are building one off 1604 and Bulverde. I wonder if anyone from the headquarters EVER goes into this HEB. There is another HEB at Nacogodches and Thousand Oaks, but it was an Albertson's. That one is way smaller than this HEB location. I've been in HEB's all over town and they are all busy no matter time of day. I have no idea what it is like at night, but I would hope it would be a little less crowded. I've been to the one by 281 and Evans and 1604 and Bandera. Both of them are HUGE and despite the big parking lot, both are crowded. I've also been to the new HEB in New Braunfels. Nice and about 50% bigger than the one at O'Connor and Nacogodches intersection. It isn't huge which is what I like. I hope that the HEB headquarters considers the Rolling Oaks Mall location again sometime soon. It would really help. It doesn't have to be a HUGE HEB, it could be a regular size HEB for all I care. It would be nice to take the pressure off this HEB for sure. An HEB Plus would be fine, but I would get sidetracked and take too long in there. As for the complaints on the produce, I never have a problem finding decent produce. My father is retired military and we go to the commissary to do some of the shopping there. We split between the commissary, Walmart at the Nacogdoches and 1604 intersection and this HEB because this is the closest one to me. If you don't like the service, do a self checkout. That's what I do and I see no problem with their customer service. We rarely have more than 20 items and utilize self checkout all the time. You can bag your own stuff and at your own pace. And for those complaining about the size, there are smaller ones. The one at the Nacogdoches and Thousand Oaks is very small for an HEB. This may be small, but not as small as that location. I would like to know why they didn't expand the one at the Nacogdoches and Thousand Oaks once that Albertson's went out of business. There is some room to expand, even a little expansion would cut the crowds at this one too. I rarely go into this HEB because this is probably the most crowded one within about 5 miles of me. This one at Nacogdoches and Thousnad Oaks, O'Connor and Nacogdoches, I-35 and 3009, Kitty Hawk and 1604. All locations are crowded and a new HEB would help relieve some of the pressure on these stores. read more
