Wow! I wish my neighborhood H-E-B was as cool as this one. This H-E-B went through a huge renovation a few years ago and the work they put it is clearly reflected in this amazing store. First fo all, their curbside pick-up section is located on the right side of the store and is pretty big if compared to other H-E-B. You don't even have to battle with the regular traffic of people that are going inside the store, which I thought was very nice. This location also has a True Texas BBQ section, which is their new bbq eatery they've been introducing to a couple grocery stores. I've never had their food, but have heard is pretty good. Anyhow! Besides the restaurant their produce section is insane and they have a huge variety of all fruits and vegetables you can think of. Their fresh flower section, sushi and bakery is also very well done with a nice variety of items. Overall, this store has anything and everything you can think of! Even though is not near my home, I will definitely be back and explore more of their produce and meat section. read more

Needed a few things even while running around. Went and got what I needed plus some great clearance on Dove body soap and the sale of 25% off. I'm all about apps so I use the HEB app, although you can find the equivalent yellow coupon in store it just makes my life easier. There's the HEB swag that seems like some people are really into. With Christmas around the corner, HEB just nails it went it comes to marketing to promote their own merchandise. They have HEB ornaments, from the coveted HEB flour tortillas to the jalapeño popper. A lot of other cute ornaments even a shopping cart. People really do just love their HEB. read more

The people are great, the service is very good BUT since a few months ago Many food items contain "Bioengineered" ingredients which is not in the list of ingredients but hidden in plain site (a few lines below or near the barcode)! I do believe it is very unhealthy! I've seen it anywhere from in the Little Debbie sweets to Yoplait fruit yogurts to just about All the cookies and cake aisle, even in the HEB donuts, pies and confectionaries. When I looked up grocery stores in San Antonio, H-E-B seemed to be the most popular. It felt like they were a dime a dozen not just in the Alamo City, but all of Texas. After all, their plastic bags do say, "Bringing Texans Low Prices since 1905". I wouldn't say they're that low, especially for Texas standards, but it's not a bad spot to do your one stop grocery shopping on a budget. This H-E-B is located at the Shops at Lincoln Heights on the northwest corner of Basse and Broadway, right before Basse turns into Nacogdoches. It's a pretty large plaza that parking should definitely not be an issue, and afterwards, you could grab some lunch or dinner at various eateries there from Torchy's Tacos to even Stone Werks Big Rock Grille. My first visit to an H-E-B was at this location, which was undergoing some construction, likely for renovations. Not the best first impression, I know, but once I stepped inside, I could envision myself being an H-E-B regular if I lived in Texas, but since I don't, I can't. After I walked through the tunnel leading into the supermarket, my first thought was that I was in Texas' version of Food4Less, a Kroger grocery store. I also thought it resembled WinCo Foods, but making the comparison would be kind of inane here considering WinCo doesn't accept credit card payments. Actually, maybe comparing H-E-B to Food4Less would be inane too because of all the times I've shopped at Food4Less, I don't remember seeing coupons being posted on the shelves, but at H-E-B, I was seeing a handful of these coupons while trying to find a bag of snacks to munch on for breakfast during my stay in San Antonio. I didn't come in with a cart because I really only wanted to get one item, and the item I chose, KIND granola, had some coupons next to them. I grabbed a coupon as well as a bag of granola and made a beeline towards checkout, which was uneventful. I didn't spend much time in the store on my first visit, and nothing really wowed me, but the coupons on the shelves stood out the most. Employees were just okay, but didn't offer to help me. Not that I was expecting them to, but it could have left a better impression on me. There was plenty of merchandise, and it was organized well enough. The interior did look a little antiquated, but hopefully after the renovations, which appeared to be exterior only, H-E-B will look brand spankin' new! Shortly after my first visit, I made a habit out of visiting nearby Alamo Quarry Market, and this is the H-E-B closest to the shopping center. Needless to say, I made a few more stops before flying back home. All of those stops were about as uneventful as the first one, though I do recall taking advantage of a Sushi Wednesday deal where sushi and poke bowls cost less than any other day of the week. I think some could be as cheap as $7, but don't quote me on that. I simply bought a Patriotic Combo, which was originally priced at $11.99, but there were $2 off coupons posted nearby, so I grabbed one and spent just $9.99 on that sushi, a nice deal considering the Patriotic Combo consists of three different kinds of sushi rolls. The sushi wasn't bad, but you could definitely do better at, say, Piranha Izakaya. Yeah, I was definitely a sucker for those coupons. I took advantage of them when I purchased some Bistro Bowl salads and Meal Simple refrigerated microwaveable meals close to the sushi and poke bowls. You could save $1 off two Bistro Bowl salads, which are normally about $3 each, and $3 off $15 worth of Meal Simple meals, which can range from $6.50 to $8.50. However, the Meal Simple coupon would only work on certain meals, so I had to be extra strategic in deciding which meals I wanted to make $15. Neither the salads nor the meals last very long, so be sure to check the expiration date before purchasing to ensure you can get to them before the fact! Overall, my trips here were just average, hence my average rating. Not bad overall, but you'd probably have a better shopping experience at nearby Whole Paycheck even if it means spending more for the same amount of groceries. Oh sorry, did I say Whole Paycheck? They recently finished remodeling this place. It's big, beautiful, and bountiful. Today I learned about HEB GO, and just when I thought HEB couldn't get much better, it got much better. For anyone who isn't local to an HEB, you must try this one first to get a taste of it's greatness. HEB continues to price gouge you to death. Shop Sprouts and WalMart. They now have Favor drivers off the street shopping our items. rs includes driver tip. tells them to use and or send expired items for your delivery. The driver told me this herself. If you place a delivery order it's over at least 20-25 dollars. Walmart and Sprouts less than 10 dollars includes driver tip. HEB has the same cheap meats on their " Weekly Savings " always cheap pork, steroid chicken, fiflty gulf brown shrimp....of course farm raised nasty catfish...look at Sprouts weekly ads ..now thats a variety and the meat and deli is incrediable. HEB only hires parttime employess to not pay much needed benefits to their employees... These guys are multi billionaires and yet do this to there folks..Oh and they do a lot for the community....Thats a biggest load of bullcrap. WHO DO YOU THINK PAYS FOR THAT...it'sa because of what they do internally to the Favor Driver off the street doing your shopping to slapping their folks in the face with parttime and no benefits....make that switch ..you'll see savings and way better quality... read more

Right now you walk a block inside to get from the west side to the east side of the store. Maybe hyperbole, but it seems that far. Ha, ha. I really think it is. I must say that the stocking during peak times is not as frequent as in the past. We can get down the aisles easily. So the experience has improved. read more

Lincoln Heights HEB. Should change layout. Cold items spread out around the store with milk on one end, frozen orange juice on the other end in front, and other basics like cheese another 100 yard walk to the back. Items are ordered in the app by isle #, not as you walk. A 100 yard walk from isle 16 to isle 17 on the other side of the store is of course very confusing; Isle 29 is in the front and 30 in the back to the left. Unlike most other HEB's, Lincoln Heights has no customer service office so all issues are handled through checkers who may not be able to handle situations. Occasionally older produce is marked 50% off or so by a produce manager at other HEB stores but not at Lincoln Heights. HEB stores are all better than the competition throughout the US, but this store unlike other nearby HEB's is trying a little too hard to be big and special. read more

Quite a few of the top brands I have been using for years and years are slowly disappearing from the shelves and being replaced with an HEB look-alike product. I've tried a few and the quality is just not there. And, of course, the price is not that much cheaper, or it is the same price as the name brand used to be. Sad. read more

I have been living at the same address in San Antonio for 8 years. Sometimes, because of my age and health, I have to order delivery (which is very expensive). HEB has recently decided to change the delivery "zones" and now my delivery store is in another city. I placed an order yesterday for a few things (perishable), with a delivery time of 12:00 noon today. It did not arrive until 2:00. This is not the first time. I called again to complain and was told there was nothing they could do, but would document my feedback. HEB is a monopoly here where I live, however, there are other alternatives, like Target, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, etc. that I will be giving my business to in the future. read more

New Lincoln Heights - Meat counter is less impressive than prior to renovation. Passing unmarbled steaks off as "Prime". I know my steaks... -Quit ordering produce from Curbside service, seem to get the items about to be tossed. #1 complaint that applies across the board to all HEB stores, I'm tired of limited brand options due to HEB brand replacements. As much as I do not like them I'm seriously considering switching to Target, Walmart or Kroger online bc of this. read more

When you are forced to go through self checkout the discounted prices are not scanned, the full price is. As a customer it is not my duty to make sure discounted items are accurately rung up. But I will certainly make it so from now on. The purchase occurred in Wednesday, Nov 27. at the oblate/San Pedro store. So after I had returned home I didn't have t he receipt so I called the store and one of the managers told me to take a picture of the item and at any time bring it to the store and they would adjust the price. I went in today, November 28, and bought some more groceries. I told the person at the check out stand what went on and showed her the photo. She demanded a receipt. I told her what the other manager had told me, but she was adamant that I was not telling the truth. I don't know who that person's name is. After a bit she called a manager or someone with a bit of authority named Tiffany over without me knowing about it and Tiffany started threatening to call security as I had raised my voice. I had just a bit but never in a threatening way. Only to get my point across to her and the other four women who had gathered around laugh and being degrading. Finally after Tiffany called someone they acquiesced and gave me my refund. I am a regular customer at that store and spend thousands of dollars a year there. I do not go there to be treated in such a shabbily manner! Tiffany kept giving me this disgusted look as if I were trying to rip off heb. I want to report her attitude towards me and her threats about calling security. It's quite clear she must be that way with other customers. She's just a shop keep apparently with a very bad attitude towards heb customers. I do want a response to this issue and I want a written apology from Tiffany. I know this is not how others at that or any other heb treat customers, as I've been to many and have never had such an experience! I will be calling HR tomorrow. Today I was shopping at the I-10 and Wurzbach Heb like always for eighteen years when I encountered a racist white man who said to me and I quote there goes another nigger following me around. I thought I was hearing things so I kept shopping and passed the man again and he said I quote, there's another homeless nigger following me around. I acted like I didn't hear him and immediately got an employee to call a Manager. The man in question had no clue that I called for a Manager. I saw the man again and on purpose I walked up next to him pretending to look at an item however this time my phone recorder was on and he said I quote again another dirty nigger following me around. At that time the Manager had walked up to my surprise and heard everything. The man denied everything but I told him everything was on tape. The Manager also said to the man that he heard him. The man was escorted out of the store immediately. I asked the manager if a BOLO picture could be on file in the store so that no one else has to go through what I went through. He said they would see what they could do. I'm always in that store and I pray I never see the man again. I have a feeling I will because the manager told me he rode a bike to the store. Shout out to Frank the manager for his quick response and his handling the situation. Unfortunately, the pharmacist gives Civid shots buy stabbing the needle near to the shoulder bone. Very painful. The correct way is to measure 3 fingers down from the shoulder and then squeezing the skin to create an elevation for the needle. Then, inserting the needle and slowly injecting the vaccine into the raised muscle. At Central Market on Broadway, they do it correctly, there is hardly any discomfort. Highly suggest going there for all your vaccines. read more

Poor pharmacy service. Refill medication with ample time day of pick told medication on back order until April(?) They couldn't call or text me to alert me. Instead they said you can go to another pharmacy see if they have it, wow so nice of them. I have been there customer for years getting same meds for years! Always love H‑E‑B. My favorite grocery store. The personal shoppers ALWAYS are spot on about knowing where items are and being helpful even though their time should be used on getting their orders filled. H‑E‑B rarely doesn't have all the items I am shopping for. The prices are good, shelves stocked, H‑E‑B brands are just as good as Name brand items except nail polish. I take my time and look at all that is offered. I usually shop at Austin Hwy H‑E‑B. I like the "Guicci H‑E‑B" on Broadway when I have a special needs (seafood, cheese, cold cuts and specialty meats, wine, fresh breads, cooked-hot foods, prepared foods and fruits and veggies you can't find at other H‑E‑B stores) but they don't carry all normal day to day items that a step down H‑E‑B carries. So they are convenient for finding specialty items but you probably will have to shop at another H‑E‑B. They are nice and very helpful as well. read more

I was at the Bandera location and I saw that they had 4 Bougainvillea plants that were marked down. Three of them were on a stand for $14.97 and one was priced at $8.97 that was in a smaller pot than the other three. The majority of the leaves were missing on all four plants being that is the end of their season, they had a few flowers hanging on. I wanted to buy the cheaper plant, took it to the service counter and the lady told me that the price was $20! For a bare plant? I think not! I went ahead and purchased the Wandering Jew for $5, it was very healthy compared to the Bougainvilleas. I'm flabbergasted about the lady's audacity to want a full price for a plant that was barely hanging on to it's dear life. Seriously, she should have spoken with someone above her to negotiate a lower price due to its condition, but she wasn't interested, especially since I had told her the price on the signs indicating lower prices. My other gripe is their bagging. I bought bananas and some tomatoes. They bagged them in the same bag with a Milk bottle, Egg Nog bottle and canned veggies. I had the sausage. It was Ok. Really nothing special. It's as if they took a sausage from one of the cheaper packs from their store shelves and sold it for $5. They even sliced it, without asking or stating so on their menu. I don't care if that's how they do it, just advise the customers of HOW they do it. The foreperson, I guess she was the person in Charge (black T with glasses), looked like her cat had just died. Never cracked a smile and couldn't even say hello, good bye, thank you, enjoy, thanks for coming etc. none of that. This is the 2nd HEB BBQ I've been to. The Food is nothing special. It's average or mediocre. It's not even close to any of the BBQ places we have down here in South Tx. So...why even open one, if you can't even compete. AS for the Beer: well, with the amount of beer they buy they get better prices, from the distributors, than most Bars and restaurants. I get it...they buy a bigger supply. The new construction really made the building lose its character. It used to be a simple heb that was fancy, but now it's just like every other heb. It's too open and makes it feel like you're walking through a shopping mall. It lost it's warm welcoming feeling and just became basic. So first of all maybe this store USED to be nice and a good spot but whatever construction they have going on is terrible and makes the store extremely squished and crowded. I HIGHLY recommend you do not shop here if claustrophobic or get anxiety in crowds. The shoppers for pick up orders were EXTREMELY RUDE not trying to move out the way for customers trying to shop including me. The girl literally stood there while i stared at her like and she said "I literally cant move the scale blocking me" so i was like okay push my cart forward its stuck i look at her again and WHAT DO YA KNOW she was able to move past the said scale that was "blocking her". First of all how the employee gonna get an attitude with ME when they clearly in the way of an already crowded store ??? The cashier girls and baggers were kind and friendly at least, my only complaint is they didnt ask if we wanted our gallon water and milk bagged, which annoyed me a little because I didnt notice until we were outside. Thats a problem for me and many others because carrying stuff into second or third floor apartments is already hard enough even harder without bags. Overall I will never return to this location I'm so mad at myself for not going to the HEB on nacogdoches instead because I wanted to see if any other nearby store was better .... SPOILER ALERT ITS NOT. One last positive thing is that despite being crowded the store it was still well stocked. They said they have made the six inch cakes covered in rosebuds before! Most bakeries would charge $50-$100 but HEB only charged $19.98. I only shop here because I have to. Ever since they remodeled the store a few years ago, I can't stand it. Why do they have the area where the people who prepare the food to give out samples? I don't like how they shout at you through their microphones. At least this store's cheese section is outta sight. It's huge! It seems that they're always trying out something different at this store, from bringing out the My Fit Foods guys to set up shop there, to outsourcing the sushi stand to local Asians. I've never had a problem with the checkout, and they usually have enough checkers to take care of you quickly. This location is always clean, and well lit. This is the best HEBI have been to in San Antonio. They carry a large selection of seafood, meats, cheeses, beer and wine. They are always having some type of a tasting so you can always try their wares. I always seem to find what I am looking for in this particular HEB, unlike the ghetto HEB near my house that has a very limited selection of meat seafood and cheeses. Forget about finding a craft beer or a prime steak there. Lincoln Heights is worth the drive. read more
