The price of food here is a bit higher then walmart, BUT, there are always several lanes open to check out. I appreciate their location and service. They grow 'em bigger in Texas. HEB is the Wegman's of the south, or at least Midland anyway. Let's just say they have everything here. Heck they probably even carry yoga mats now though I think only ten people in Midland do yoga. And the weirdest thing about supermarkets in Texas -- they not only have people to bag your groceries, but they push your groceries out to your car for you, then bring the cart back. On the one hand it's a nice service and it clears up the parking lot of wandering carts. But it also feels kinda...weird...like you have a servant or something. And you aren't allowed to tip them. Terrible. Most employees are clueless or rude. The store is filthy. Expiration dates for EVERYTHING must be checked. Their quality is low, very low, but their produce is worse. This is by far the worst HEB I have ever been to. I sincerely hope they open a Whole Foods soon. read more

I also worked at H-E-B, i worked there for 3 years and I can say that some of the behind the scenes stuff is less than desirable but its fine to shop at and please be nice to the workers there I can honestly say it usually sucks having to work with some of the customers at that place, so be nice. read more

The renovation has really done HEB well. It is like a cross between a central market& an HEB now. It's huge, and also always packed. Customer service is good though, and they always have good prices. read more

H-E-B has good prices & a fairly good layout. 'Course the dairy department is way in the back - but, that is normal for most grocery stores. I like to go there around five-ish because they often give out a free Sushi sample (my fave!). The line for checking out in usually not bad, either. read more

Honestly, I want to give HEB 4 or 5 stars. Good prices, wide selection, great produce department, quality store-brand items, Whataburger breakfast sausage... all awesome. Trouble is that HEB in this town stands for Here Everybody Be. It is so massively crowded. As a result, shopping their can be utter chaos. The normally friendly staff can get stressed during peak hours, the store quickly turns into a mess (I feel for the staff trying to keep up with the hoards of people.) Lines get long. I've had ice cream get half-melted while I waited to check out. I'm so glad they are building a second location to take the pressure off this store. But until the second store opens, I'm trying to avoid HEB as much as possible. Right now, they are a victim of their own success. read more

1. Check out prices are often not the same as the marked shelf prices and sale prices. 2. Its gloomy and dark and cavernous 3. HEB products fill the shelves, removing a lot of name brand foods I'm more interested in. Its a really large store. The biggest benefit for shopping in a large store is greater product availability but this is overcome when the greater number of products are HEB. 4. Hard to find help or get questions answered. 5. Check out lanes are uncomfortable if you like to keep an eye on prices. 6. Employees will sack your food carefully...if you stay on top of them and ask...but you often get treated with impatience about it. read more

It's basically the only place I'll grocery shop. They have the best prices, and quality. Best prices on gas as well. I love this store.

Yes. It is a grocery store. Sometimes better than others. If you get there lst thing early in the morning. Way too many people there shopping. Can be overwhelming at times. Times you literally can 't get down the aisles. The baskets are way too big. If you go down an aisle with people in a kiddie kart, you can't get down the aisle. Their coffee in their coffee bar is good. Only problem is there is no consistency. You can stand in line for 5 mins. or more, pay for the coffee. Go and get it and they are completely out. After standing in line for others to buy other things. At the business center. You can buy lotto and stamps. Then again, faster to go to the post office and 7-ll. You have to wait in line for people to buy 6 flag tickets, pay bills, send Western Union. We need more grocery stores here in Midland. Approximately l20,000 people shop at this one store. Hand's down best grocery shopping in Midland. Try to go during off hours (or you'll be waiting in line for 15 min to check out).

Think of a nicer, smaller version of WalMart. You can buy your groceries here, get your prescriptions filled, get photos developed, and buy an assortment of hair products and makeup. It's a good place for sushi lovers also. The prices are reasonable as well, being slightly higher some things in WalMart, but lower than Albertson's. read more

HEB workers do NOT know anything about their own coupon policy. Im not an extreme couponer, but I do like to clip coupons and try to find some deals. Their coupon policy says you can combine some types of coupons with their HEB coupons, but they always deny you doing this. I have to argue EVERYTIME and speak with a manager who half the time doesnt know policy either. I like the store but I dont hardly go there anymore because theres always drama with using coupons. read more

I love HEB for the variety offered there, but I really wish they would teach their baggers how to put groceries in a bag. It's not complicated, but I ALWAYS leave there with about 10 bags more than I need, because they are so fond of putting 1 or 2 items per bag. Nothing like having to re-bag your groceries to put them in the car. read more

Awful experience. Went to get multiple prescriptions filled and there was am issue with my insurance and the lady said she couldn't help me and to figure it out and come back. Once I dealt with my insurance and came back the lady working the drive thru told me to "just circle around so I can keep the line moving." After my circle around the parking lot I was five cars back in line and what should have been 5 minutes to pick up my prescription turned into a 30 min ordeal. This place definitely needs better customer service. read more

The prices and selection are good, but the crowds are horrendous. It's like Black Friday in downtown LA all the time. Expect to spend a minimum of 30 min for one item and 3 or more hours for a decent sized shopping trip. And then there's the parking lot. Getting in and out of the parking lot is its own special challenge. Expect to spend at least 15 minutes getting out of the parking lot. Bottom line-my time is worth too much to shop at HEB. read more

If the truth be told, HEB has the best selection and best prices in Midland. That being said, it also ranks number one in most un-enjoyable shopping experiences in Midland. The store cannot handle the volume of shoppers that frequent the place. HEB could have justified a second location several years ago, but instead settled for an expansion of the current store. Because of this, shoppers have grown bitter and angry about shopping HEB. They still do business with them, but begrudgingly. The common saying among HEB shoppers is "we love it as much as we hate it". It is not uncommon to look around at people in the crowded aisles or waiting in the long checkout lines and see them shaking their heads in frustration. They can't open up any more checkout lanes, because all 20+ are already open. As I stated earlier, their business has outgrown the stores capabilities (for years now). The problem now, is that their competitors have moved in with a very competitive upscale grocery store model (Loop 250 at Midkiff Rd.) that is an absolute pleasure to shop. If this store was closer to me, I wouldn't ever shop HEB again. HEB did this to themselves by dragging their feet in opening additional locations. Now they have developed such a strong negative opinion amongst their own customers. Sheer stupidity on their part. read more
