They actually help you when you can't find something. The prices. They're reasonable and you don't need a rewards card to save here. The meat and produce selections. They're fresh and of quality. The store itself. It's clean, well-organized, and has good signage inside. The only thing I ever disliked about Thriftway is the location--not necessarily within the city, but the way it is tucked off in a corner behind Bealls and Walgreens. Each December, an annual canned food drive (Stuff-a-Truck) happens in front of this store. So they definitely support their community and less fortunate citizens. I may be the only one who remembers this, but Thriftway used to be on Dal Paso St. That Thriftway burned to the ground back in '07. I never learned what the cause was or how it happened, but... My daughter and I browsed the entire place to see what the heck it was back on July 19, 2024. For such a small store, it was so clean and packed with Latin American goods! This ranged from dry goods to canned goods and fresh produce to frozen goods. It definitely helps if you speak Spanish. Plus... todo está etiquetado en español. The lady who greeted us was very friendly, but spoke limited English. ¡Adios, Yelpies!

It's an okay Walmart Supercenter…read more Some days it's good. Never great, but good. Other days it's just terrible. There are transients scattered everywhere. The parking lot confuses out-of-towners. Folks put puppies in the back of trucks here. So sad. In the evenings the migratory birds swarm all of the trees and they are so loud. It's crazy. Let's move into the actual store finally... The place has been an absolute mess and then some. Dirty. Unorganized. Open packages. The carts suck. The shelves are empty or damn near it. The attitudes from the employees equal those of the other patrons. Why is it like this? The only reason I give it 3 stars is because of the low prices. Ample parking during the mid-mornings. And at self-check I can still purchase whiskey, tequila, and beer with the assistance of an employee. It doesn't take more than a minute usually. I have found that it's faster and more efficient to do self-checkout as much as I detest it. That sums up this love-hate relationship.

The cashier quickly greeted us and told us a quick rundown about what they had, and where to order. There was so much food to pick from and it was hard to pick just one meal. I ended up ordering half a chicken with mashed potatoes and a potato salad. My husband ended up ordering three crunchy brisket tacos. We sat down and people kept trickling in. Our food didn't take too long and a different employee dropped it off. She was also very friendly and attentive. My chicken was delicious and HUGE. I couldn't finish it, so I had to take it on home. The sides are small, but they also accompanied my dish with a bread roll, some barbecue sauce, and a jalapeño with onions. My husband loved his brisket tacos and loved them even more after he poured some bbq sauce on top. They are also a market so they sell a lot of goods, fresh meat, and dairy. The inside is small but it all flows great. The fresh meat all looked of great quality and prices are reasonable! Can't wait to be back to try something else!

She would've been fast had the onions not had to have been entered manually. She said, "It's always the onions." It's a clean store. Low produce section. Ample parking, but I agree with my 10-year-old, lots of "weird" people coming in and out. * Family-size White cheddar Cheez-it crackers = $5.70 * Package of mini Romaine lettuce heads = $3.95 * Bag of 4 yellow onions = $.... She didn't charge me! Probably because she was the only employee we saw & there was an impatient, murmuring crowd behind us plus a man talking SUPER LOUDLY on his mobile. I stopped by on Sunday morning, October 20, 2024, after checking on my brother's dogs because I needed a hock of ham. The staff members were friendly but only spoke to me after I initiated conversation. Sadly, they didn't have any hocks for my simmering pinto beans. I'm still not certain the guy behind the counter knew what I was inquiring. Lol. The place is brand new. Offers menudo on the weekends. Sells groceries including fresh veggies. The meats looked good. The only issue I had was with the Pine-sol-like smell fumigating my nostril hairs as soon as I walked in. Had I known they were mopping at that hour, I wouldn't have went in. Ample parking spots in a shared plaza lot.
