I visited Undergrounds Coffee while on a work trip to Hobbs, New Mexico to have a team meeting prior to a customer meeting. The space is a great spot for that purpose, meeting up with a friend, or just getting work done at somewhere quiet and very spacious. The drink menu here is enormous and they have specials here too depending on season it seems like. Just see my pictures. There's an almost limitless amount of combinations they do with Red Bull! I didn't taste the pastries but they looked phenomenal. I ordered a dirty Chai and it was very well made with a good level of sweetness. Ambiance was cute. Lots of seating available and one of the only spots in Hobbs, America where you can sit down and get some laptop work done. There's flavors on flavors on flavors here and for me that's not always ideal. Personally I would love some fan favs and a couple of seasonal options to choose from as I am very indecisive. I did decide to step out of my usual comfort zone when it comes to lattes and try something different. We got the toasted coconut x sea salt latte - a solid 8/10. And we got the gingerbread latte - 5/10. Very bland in flavor and not much of the gingerbread coming thru. It was a bit disappointing and I definitely had some high expectations for that one. Overall I had a good experience, customer service was on point and I was able to get some work done. read more

Walked in with a couple of my buddy's and one of my buddy's has an accent and the girl taking our order was mad at him because he didn't have good pronunciation. When it came time to pay she asked cash or card and he didn't hear her and asked again and she yelled it at him. Drinks were good though. read more

The drive thru line is always long. Decided I would probably get in and out faster if I just ordered inside. I was surprised to see how big the inside is. They have plenty of tables, and seating available and the couches looked so comfy. The menu is pretty simple and they have all the drinks that they can make listed. They also sell pastries. I have been able to try three different drinks from here so far and I really liked 2 out of the three I have had. The iced caramel macchiato was a big no for me. I did not like the flavor one bit and not what I'm use to. The southern tea was delicious and very refreshing! I also really enjoyed the Red Bull drink I had. I think it's called cactus blossom? They have a ton of different flavors though for you to be able to customize your energy drink. All the flavors are listed but unfortunately the don't have a description saying exactly what each combination is. Employee was friendly and the inside was clean. I don't recommend. It's not cozy, there is no presentation with the drinks or food: it's styrofoam plates and styrofoam cups... nothing dainty and cozy. It's a dark tunnel like place. The people are friendly. The food is heated in a microwave so it's soggy afterwards- all the crunchiness of the food is lost. The ambiance is not coffee like and conducive to relaxation and fun. Friendly staff, clean environment. The coffee was good! They also have a variety of pastries to choose from. You know how Sonic makes those soda concoctions with flavored syrups? This place does it to! There was a line for their Drive Thru and it seemed pretty popular to order a flavored soda so maybe give that a try? read more

Finally, a decent place to grab a coffee and sit for a while when we visit my family in Hobbs. My husband, my daughter, and I currently live in L.A. and I must say that this is competition for some of the coffee hangouts in the City of Angels. Undergrounds (there is also a drive-thru on Dal Paso) is a cozy environment with soft background music and a TV with the news on above a fireplace. We didn't have lunch there although they seem to have a decent sandwich selection. I tried several different coffee flavors during our week in Hobbs a few weeks ago. Not once did we have bad service. At one point we decided to have some pastries. My husband had a nicely sized cinnamon roll while I had a green chili sausage roll. Mine was significantly smaller in size, but was pretty tasty... a little hard from sitting there all morning long, though. There are plenty of places to sit even as there are several big-haired and fake, shiny jewelry-cladded school teachers and whatnot rushing in at mid-morning to gossip during their breaks or on their way to get their nails done. ;) Restrooms are available in the back. Plenty of parking spots too. Drive-thru is at this location as well! They are a little pricey, but it's worth the splurge when your parents don't drink coffee. Review #180 read more

Undergrounds is a Hobbs institution! It is a local favorite for good reason! The coffee is delicious and the lattes are clearly made with love. In my twenty plus visits, I've yet to have a single drink that was less than perfection! I've tried a variety of drinks here from the caramel macchiato (my favorite at this location!) to their black coffee and everything is delicious! If you like sweet treats, this is also your place. The location is fantastic and super comfy! It's a fantastic place to spread out and read or get some work done. Some people will complain that the drive thru can be a little slow but the truth is that great handmade drinks can take a little bit of time to make and it's worth the wait! Local coffeeshops are always a yes for me. It is very spacious inside with fun decor thats not too distracting. Strolled in here and was greeted by friendly staff. I went with my usual vanilla latte and a blueberry muffin. They have a very big variety of baked goods and I didn't know what to choose, so I went with what the ladies suggested. I enjoyed my muffin- there is a lot of texture to it! The crumble outside of the muffin is fun to eat, if you're into that type of stuff. I like my muffins classic and soft, but it was pretty good. My vanilla latte was a little too sweet for me. I don't drink my coffee black, but I'd like to taste the coffee too. Maybe next time I will not get any syrup in my latte. Parking is easy because this coffeeshop is in a little shopping complex. I heard they have a drive thru shop off Del Paso so I'd like to try that out. I miss this spot. When I lived in Hobbs, I came here a lot during the day to get work done. It's got a very laid back atmosphere with good drinks and snacks. I miss the sweet tea. So much. And being able to drive through for a quick coffee. I still have my punch card from Undergrounds in my wallet because I refuse to get rid of it even though I'm quite a ways away now. Honestly, I was skeptical to try this place but I was so pleasantly surprised I could cry. The coconut latte was so freaking good!!! They also have flavored teas, waters, etc. I heard a lot of speciality drinks being called out that I would really like to try when I'm in Hobbs next. Also, the price of my large coffee was so much cheaper than in bigger cities. THEY ALSO HAVE THE GOOD ICE. They are always always busy, but work really hard to get your order to you fast. Great atmosphere, outstanding live music on Saturday nights. The snack foods are good. I'm not a coffee drinker, but go with friends for the music, or to kill time when waiting on car servicing. They are nice, very friendly, the service is excellent. My only critique is they are a little pricey, and they close WAY early (8 pm). Other than that, they are top-notch! Update (10/13/13): I do still wish they were open later, but as far as places to go in Hobbs...I have to bump them up to 5 stars. If any restaurant/business owner wants to see an example of cleanliness, service, atmosphere, and overall experience done right...go to Undergrounds. Possibly the best overall experience in Hobbs. I love the decor, prices, and kaloches here but had the bitterest coffee I've ever tasted at a local coffee house - no better than a gas station. I am new to Hobbs and sadly disappointed that I can't frequent this little local place; it has so many other things going for it. You can even pick up a local News-Sun for free with coffee. Maybe I should have expressed my disappointment to the owners - either their coffee is just a bad one or their barrista's aren't trained to properly make coffee - I don't know which. It's in Grimes, not "Frimes", in the plaza across Toyota. Ever since I moved here, I've been complaining that there is no Starbucks or a good coffee place or hangout in town. Until I saw my boyfriend's co-worker drinking a caramel macchiatto and asked where she got it in this town. It's this place. I went here, and I was super happy. I have a place in this town to hang out now!!! Especially the parks here are crappy, and there's not a lot of goings-on in this town. I heard teenagers' hang-out spot in Walmart, and I've never seen people hitting on each in Chili's until I came here. Anyway..... They have comfy couches and free wifi. They have a drive-thru. They're open Mon-Fri, 5am-8pm, and weekends from 6-8. That's pretty cool so if I'm sick of the free motor oil coffee in the hospital cafeteria, I can get my coffee fix here. The staff is nice too. And did I say their coffee is good???!!!! Comparable to Starbucks or to coffee places I've been to all around the country. This will be my favorite place now until I leave this town. I give it 3.5 stars. I used to love going here last summer. Since then the drinks just aren't the same. I usually get a blended coffee or iced coffee. My fave drinks were buttercream dream frap, nutty Irish frap, caramel macchiato frap/ iced coffee, macadamia nut frap, pumpkin pie (seasonal), or caramel apple smoothie (great during the hot weather). I don't know if the baristas have changed (I don't see the same workers) or what. I've gone to the drive thru and the actual spot and have received mixed results. Even when my family came to visit in January we all got different drinks but yet they all tasted the same. It's a hit or miss with this place. I would love to support local businesses but not when the quality/taste are lacking. Starbucks, here I come!! read more

Their employees are friendly, the orders are accurate. I've tried the chicken salad which is delicious, Sunday's soup is chicken dumpling which is just like my Grandmother made. Their have a nice selection of freshly made bakery items, bagels, sausage rolls. I love that they have a variety of sugar free flavors to add to coffee/tea etc. Husband is a fan of the green chili sausage rolls. I was passing through on the way to Dallas and stopped based on reviews. I was very disappointed. I ordered a house coffee and it tasted burnt. The scone was soggy and void of taste. My wife ordered a tea with a sugar free flavor and received a flavoring with sugar. The person taking our order was the saving grace as he was entertaining. The other three employees working were not very organized nor were they dressed appropriately (one girl was wearing short shorts working with hot liquids). The atmosphere was dingy in my opinion and was not inviting. I question all the reviews at 5 stars and would warn all looking at this site to beware of false advertisement. In the end I had to dump my coffee and settle for gas station coffee to get me through my trip. Sorry to be so negative here but I wasn't impressed and the product should match the rating. read more

Drive-through needs a speaker you'll be there for 35 minuets at a time waiting for one sweet tea. If you like tap water go to this place that's what they use for all there drinks.
