Is it the best HEB in Houston? Nah, but it gets the job done. I come here often because it's 5 minutes from the house and I don't like to drive far just to do some grocery shopping. This location has inconsistency with their service. The cashiers aren't the nicest or very welcoming. But I will say, they get you in and out. HEB has pretty much everything you need and I like that everything is well stocked and organized. Their meat department is the star of the show. There's also an area where they put out some hot and ready to eat meals. They have rotisserie chicken, chicken wings/bites etc. if you come early in the morning they put out some kolaches, sausage/bacon egg and cheese croissant, empanadas etc. If you're in the mood for sushi and don't wanna pay restaurant prices they also have a sushi station where you see them prepare it and you just grab and go. In addition to sushi, there's also spring rolls, dumplings etc. During crawfish season, they're outside selling ready to eat crawfish, you can also order them uncooked as well. So, in my opinion whoever is boiling up some crawfish needs major help on seasoning. It was bland, barely spicy and not saucy at all. No hint of Louisiana seasoning, old bay or zatarain's. Once I bring it home I have to doctor it up with my own seasonings cuz that ain't it. If you want cooked crawfish for an affordable price go to the HEB on beechnut. Overall, the location is fine. It's convenient and it gets the job done. I will say go early as possible because it's very busy during the afternoon/evening time. I came in today 4/18/26 at 6:08 pm and the cashier Mekhi C - 157561, was very rude. I asked him to check the price of a juice that was marked down but had no price on it and he just scanned it and moved on didn't say anything. Then after the transaction he just handled me my receipt then didn't even make eye contact or say anything at all. The bagger was nicer than him. I don't understand why he chooses to work there and his customer service is horrible. He always said " do you need help out" with an attitude. I surely don't want any type of help from you. I was disappointed that on the same note, I was advised by the HEB customer service to call the water dispenser owner directly. All HEB's are not the same. Its the only time I've seen during the day there be little to none of the heb meals ready to eat out of stock. Its still HEB so if you are in the area I would recommend it - maybe just not if you're looking for the ready meals. Its a pretty big parking area although its busier so you kind of have to look out for what everyone else is doing. read more

This two-star-AT-BEST experience included an employee who had the audacity to mention religion. So you know I had to get on here. Long story short, after getting all our groceries, we chose the closest checkout lane to us that wasn't express, unloaded our cart, and waited our turn. I was organizing our items on the conveyor belt (snacks last so I can keep an eye those bad boys) and making sure I put a border bar after them and my reusable bags in front of all of our stuff - including two reusable HEB bags 'cause we're loyal like that. The cashier, Nicholaus M, and his bagger were finishing up with the customer before us, sending them off with a friendly goodbye and thank you. Then everything got silent....except for the quiet-ish greeting from my son. My son doesn't work at HEB though. We were doing our shopping together. Neither the checker nor the bagger greeted me nor did they return my son's greeting. The cashier and his bagger did their job on our groceries while having an animated conversation with each other. They were clearly buds, but they were 100% going out of their way to say nothing to us or even make eye contact. Nowadays, this lack of comportement from employees at this "level" doesn't phase me, regardless of what the employee looks like. I come from a different generation, and when I had similar jobs I did them with more respect for myself and for my employer. Period. But the obviously adopted blaccent coming out of these two HEB employees' mouths, while they chose to ignore at least one person in this transaction who was no doubt of Sub-Saharan African descent--namely me--just has to be part of this Yelp. I'm surprised they didn't throw in some Tejano Spanglish along with their African American Vernacular English, just to dig a knife into my Blaxican son. No love for La Raza, I guess. It gets worse though. I mean, seriously I wanted to run for cover from the lightening bolt I thought was going to come from sky. The bagger started talking about Eid to his cashier buddy. E-I-D. Eid, the festival marking the end of Ramadan which is expected to be celebrated at the end of this month. The bagger was going on about how excited he was for all the feasting he was about to do, AND HE SAID ALL OF IT IN SPOT-ON BLACCENT. Uh-unh Booboo. I mean, he didn't get into how "screamin'", "bussin'" or "fire" that spread was "'bout to be" at Eid. But still.... You mean to tell me, with all that blaccent coming out of that bagger's mouth, he thought it was appropriate to mention religion while dissing customers of color right in front of him? One of whom just so happens to be a dark-skinned African American--of Texan heritage, thank you very much? How is that living in peace according to any religion's tenets, except maybe satanism? And then at the end of the transaction the bagger kinda-sorta shoved my remaining usable bags in our cart without a thank you or a goodbye or anything. What a caracicature of Black urbanity. His "homie" at the cash register was no better. All he said loudly enough during the entire transaction was my grocery total, a "here you go" when he handed me my receipt - followed by NO RESPONSE to my thank you after I gently took it from him - and then he muttered something under his breath that kinda-sorta sounded like a "have a good day". But seriously he might as well have had a hand over his mouth it was so inaudible; I might've even been imagining things. Never again at this HEB. Bought a birthday cake for my mom here today (July 19) when I first arrived at the bakery section no one greeted me. There were two ladies there putting price tags on some cookies and cakes. After just standing there someone finally came and asked if I needed help. She was very nice (I think her name was Camelia) although the cake was decorated nicely it did NOT taste like a freshly baked cake. I bought the 10" chocolate cake with strawberry buttercream. First of all I'm from out of state , I used the app to TRY an order flowers for my sister In the delivery tab when I put in the address I cut and pasted my sisters address from my contacts. Nearly $400 in groceries + delivery fees plus a generous ~$40 tip to drive 1.7 miles (6 min drive and maybe 5-10 min drop off) I received Favor Delivery text at 10:03 pm that driver was 17 minutes away. It is now 12:36 am and still no groceries. No text. No email. Nothing to explain delay. There is no one to contact for assistance at this hour. Also, Favor Delivery is owned by HEB. The GM has promised to either "look into" something for me, or do something for me at least 10 times, and followed through precisely ZERO times. He never calls me with the information, and in fact DOUBLE PROMISED the second time, because the first issue had been handed-off to a lower manager, and that person did not follow through--which made him promise yet again to take care of the issue himself. Nope. Never. Products I rely upon vanish, and are replaced with multiple options on things I never buy. For example: this store sells more than 25 different versions of frozen pepperoni pizzas. There are almost no vegetarian options, and those that exist are very few in number. For some reason, they appear to believe that people whom want an organic or vegetarian option also require a cauliflower crust. FALSE. The kicker came last night: at the deli, while waiting for my shaved Boar's Head chicken, I decided that perhaps some cheese would be nice in the sandwich. They offer a large variety of fresh produce, fresh meat, wine, beers, baked goods, cooking items, toys, cards, and they have a pharmacy as well! 1 stop shop with a plethora of items you need as well as ones you don't .........but since you're there.....why not!!?? I bought some lamb shoulder chops as well as fresh vegetables to make a delicious curry lamb stew. I bought a slice of their strawberry creme cake to share while dinner cooked (dessert first) but I ended up eating it all. The meat was fresh and the vegetables were fresh as well. As this crazy economy and inflation starts to rise I never thought in my wildest dreams that HEB would charge such high prices now for the produce amongst other items. Following suit. As I was shopping for avocados at the price of $.96 each I noticed that a lot of these avocados were past their time. I was able to find two that I thought pretty were good, only to find one completely rotten on the inside. And it's not only the produce it's just the prices of everything escalating in the store. It's just unbelievable and sad to think that this establishment who I thought was for the community has changed so much. I have been a customer for over 30 years and I will now shop elsewhere. I usually don't review big brand name businesses but I had to say something today. I went to the seafood counter to get some items for dinner and when the young man came over to me he had just finished helping someone else. Now I cannot say for sure if he had gloves on at that time or not BUT I can say I did not see him throw anything away. He came over to me and asked what I needed help with and I told him what I wanted. I watched him touch the tilapia, then the salmon (NO GLOVES) then his phone after we were done talking. The packaging was old and wrapped loosley, I felt an omnious feeling as I was getting out of the car to walk in. The outside of the store was not manicured as most HEB stores are. There were dirty leaves everywhere and had not been blown from the outside of the store. The inside of the store felt old and creepy. There was no specialty selection of foods and the produce department felt old and cramped. Curbside closed 30 minutes before my pickup window even began, despite my receiving texts that my order was ready to be picked up with all items in stock. My order was given away and the only resolution was their refunding new and making me shop my own order. The parking lot is a complete nightmare. There is never anywhere to park and its a bunch of cars circling the lot. Many people also use the curbside parking , while they go inside to shop. This make the convince of curbside obsolete, aS you have to wait for spots to become available. Curbside needs to monitor their spots and come up with a solution soon! We use this HEB location regularly and have normally been very happy with the products carried including skeet items. That changed this week. My wife and I were shopping this store Tuesday for preparation of entertaining our family for Thanksgiving. We purchase some pies for desert. The pecan pies were a complete disappointment. When we cut into them the entire filler beneath the pecans was completely liquid, not sure what the bakery did but you couldn't serve them without a ladle. Needless to say the pies were thrown away. This particular HEB is located at the corner of Kirkwood and Westheimer, and is extremely busy any time of the day. Parking is always a nightmare, and there is nonstop traffic of pedestrians going in and out of the grocery store and other customers trying to park. I usually have to park way at the end of the lot and then walk towards the entrance. Once you're inside, it is still very crowded and I find myself dodging carts sometimes. The layout itself is very nice. They seem to be very organized and most of their items are very well stocked. They have this bakery section, which is always a treat and there is a sushi stand where 2 very nice asian ladies are making fresh sushi and dumplings. I usually hover in that area, and they always give free samples to try. The Asian women take care of me! The workers at HEB are also very knowledgeable of where items are located and how to find them, unlike the workers at Walmart. Also throughout the store, HEB has coupons on their store brands and clearance sections. They have a nice size pharmacy, and service booth where you can do tons of transactions, such as wire transfers, utility payments etc. The one thing I like the most about HEB is that crowd or no crowd, they seem to have all cash registers open. They have plenty of express lanes of low quantity items. This seems to expedite the checkout process and to maintain the steady flow of traffic. The layout of this store is a little different and the size is a bit smaller. Wasn't able to find everything I needed but was able to get in and get out pretty fast. Parking was congested but this location does have a gas station so it keeps steady traffic in the parking lot! H-E-B has is normally fairly cheap, so don't forget to fuel up. This is my absolute favorite grocery store! They have everything I want. This store is approximately 6 miles from my house. I drove past several grocery stores to come here for several reasons. The first reason is the deli meat department. They have Boars Head brand deli meat you can buy and have pre-sliced by the weight. I know that a lot of grocery stores offer the slicing in their deli's however, not all HEB and other grocery stores carry Boars Head meats. The Honey smoked turkey and maple honey ham is absolutely define. You will never want to eat Oscar Mayer pre packaged deli meat again. The staff in the meat market and produce departments are very friendly & helpful. I can always find the items I need here. They also have an extensive craft beer selection which my husband loves. I can always find unique IPA beers here. The only downside to this location is it is always busy and hard to find a parking spot but I guess that is a testament to how great this store is and I am not the only one who feels this way! read more

I have been shopping at the HEB located at 11815 Westheimer, since Mr. Kerry was in charge of the store. He was always friendly, actively listened to customers, and made a wrong situation right. Today I went to the store, around 12:30pm CST, to pick up a few items. I started in the deli section. The young man assisting me, was Hispanic and the shortest partner in the deli at the time. I did not get his name. Initially, I asked if there was a HEB chopped ham. The young man stated, "No, there is not. But Boar's Head Deluxe Ham would be similar to chopped ham." I then asked him if I could try a sample and he replied, "No, we do not provide samples due to Covid restrictions." I understood the reasoning, but I explained to the young man that I am not going to buy a product I am not familiar with, nor have tasted previously. He shrugged his shoulders and put the ham back in the case. I then asked for Boar's Head Beef Salami (sliced on 3) and HEB Yellow American (sliced on 1,5). While waiting, I decided that I wanted some HEB Mesquites turkey (sliced on 1) as well. Once all of my items were complete, I placed them in the basket. The cheese did not feel correct, so I decided to inspect it. The young man placed 8 slices of cheese, per sheet, which had them all sticking together. The standard is to have 4 slices of cheese (2 on each side of sheet) per piece of wax paper, so the cheese does not stick together. I then turned back to the young man and asked for more pieces of papers. The young man asked, "Why?" I was taken aback because no partner in the deli had ever asked me that question before. I then explained that I needed additional paper to properly separate the cheese. The young man then threw a piece of paper on the counter. Again, I was shocked with his behavior. I would not take a piece of paper sitting on the counter (which customers touch all day long) and place with my cheese. I asked for more sheets and the young man said with an attitude, "How many sheets do you need?" By this point, I was beyond displeased and feeling totally disregarded as a patron of HEB. I stated, "I need 4 pieces of paper because you did not separate the cheese properly." The young man replied to me, "That is my mistake." and threw 4 more sheets on the counter. I asked him, "Why are you throwing the sheets at me?" The young man argued that he was not throwing the sheets at me. There were several deli partners witnessing this interaction and one partner was dressed in black, so I am assuming she was a team lead. At no time, did anyone intervene or come to assess the situation. I left the deli and first went to grab some cherries and then I went to find a manager to explain my situation. I located a manager standing near the frozen foods and cash registers. Again, foolishly. I did not get her name. I asked her if Mr. Sam was working today, as I have had positive interaction with him. (In May, I was cleaning up a spill in the store and Mr. Sam offered me a job!) She stated Mr. Sam was off today. I then started to explain the incident in the deli. She stated that the description I provided of the young man sounded familiar. While in the middle of our conversation, a man walks up to her and asks for a price check on a pot. Instead of telling the man she was dealing with me and my issue, she does a price check for the man. At this point, I feel invisible and that I, as a person, let alone a patron, hold no value in this particular HEB. I left the store in tears, and I sat in my car and cried for about 20 minutes before driving home, without groceries or my dignity and respect. I have never had an encounter like this at HEB. In fact, a few partners know me and are super friendly when I come in to shop. As for the manager interaction, I am beyond disgusted. I frequent the store located at 5895 SAN FELIPE STREET. Ms. Christin and Ms. Dar are exceptional managers and focus on the customer that is speaking to them. They would never put off an escalation/incident to do a price check. Those ladies always go above and beyond to help a customer, especially one that is dissatisfied with service. Today was so traumatic and dismissive to me as a customer, that I do not know if I will return. The most important thing to remember is that in today's climate, you never know what a person is going through and what emotional state a person is in. I left the store in tears because I was so hurt and could not believe I had been treated the way I was treated, in a HEB, that I have been shopping in for over 10 years. However, how many times in recent weeks have we read about a customer/client/patient shooting up a place or shooting innocent people because they felt disrespected or that no one listened to what they had to say. I think this is a teaching moment and redirection is need for store #38, at 11815 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77077. I am gradually building up a series of links for those poor unfortunates who cannot get by without a small taste from the Sceptred Isle I live just down the road from this HEB and go here to stock up on the basics but it has the added benefit of an International section. Once again those Plebs at work never told me about this and I happened to stumbled upon it on my third visit. Within this section there are areas of shelving dedicated to various ethnic cultures and, Joy of Joys, there is one for us Brits. It is surprising what you miss once it is not easily available anymore. Branston Pickle, Jammy Dodgers, HobNobs, Maltesers, Polos, Robertsons Jam, Piccallili, Bounty, Salad Cream and a host of other indispensable essentials for late night snacking but the Crème de la Crème was that you can get Birds Custard and Treacle Sponge and Spotted Dick here. For anyone of you currently dialing 911 to have me nicked and charged with a public order offence, stop, Spotted Dick is not something you accquire from a Lady of the Night. If desserts were all made of Champagne it would be the Krug Clos du Mesnil 1995. I also have nightmare memories of the time I arrived at the checkout and had all my goods bagged and paid for and was turning to head for the door when the cashier Girl uttered that immortal phrase. "yewaaaanhellowsigh" I seriously thought I had been addressed in some ancient form of Cantonese "Pardon ?" I politely enquired Again, her mouth moved and out came "yewaaaanhellowsigh" "I am sorry, but i didn't catch what you said ?" for a third time, this is what my shell likes were telling me, "yewaaaanhellowsigh" I was starting to panic, had I forgotten my mother tongue, the people queuing for this cashier were looking at me like I had just landed. In fact, even I felt like I had just landed. Last resort..."Please, I'm sorry but I did not hear what you said. Could you give it to me one word at a time?" Ok so, all my fellow coffee drinkers out there, you know how it makes you feel when you wake up in the morning running on about 4 hours of sleep after a "yesterday" that kicked you in the... but you have things that gotta get done so you're up when you could have slept in. What's the first thing you're thinking when you get outta bed? Exactly! COFFEE! You go in the kitchen ready to fire up your trusty brew meister and look in the fridge, NO COFFEE! [Insert profanities here, not one of two either] Well you gotta have the Java to kick this day off right. Taking over the world requires certain fundamental essentials. So off to HEB I go which is about 4 miles one way. That's a trek for a caffeineless man. I get there, pick my poison, a fresh gallon of spring water, and hot tail it to the checkout. Im looking for the shortest line then Bingo! A squeaky fresh register beckons me. All systems go! The guy rings me up then bags my coffee and slides my gallon over just out of reach. The coffee is still in the plastic bag on the little bag dispenser on the far opposite side of the register counter. Trevian H., my cashier, proceeds to the next customer, not even thinking "maybe I should give him this bag of coffee so he doesn't have to perform pilates to get to it". So I reach out and gesture towards the bag, with a little animation to indicate that assistance would be nice, and he says "What, you want a bag for your water?". I'm like, "No, I would like my bag of coffee if possible". The guy gets an attitude, snatches the coffee of the dispenser and then hands it to me and switches his attention back to the next customer. Ok, I'm old school from the hood. If you from the hood you know what I wanted to do but that involves police and court systems. I opted out. I left and said to myself, I need my energy cause I have bigger fish to fry. So I get home and I'm ready to get the java flowing. I grab my bag of coffee and guess what? There's a hole in the bag... As afore mentioned, I'm old school so I pour the coffee in a zip lock and said this just gonna have to due, cause I'm not going back up there, for several reasons... but I'm going "Yelp" they @$$ for this one. I started to go to Walmart because there you know what you're getting in terms of customer service the majority of the time (no offense intended). But I gave HEB a shot. Thanks to Trevian H.
