I've been shopping at this location for over 5 years and the people who work here are amazing. The wonderful Albert, who works in the fish department, is amazing. He is so kind and my children LOVE him. He's watched them grow up and always says hello to them when he sees them. This HEB is definitely older than some of the others and not as well maintained. Their selection is severally limited considering the nicest one in Austin is literally a mile up the road at Tech Ridge. If you are going to go to HEB in 78727 just go to the Tech Ridge one, you won't be disappointed. read more

I should start by saying I hate grocery shopping with a fiery passion that can only be found in the pits of hell. I would run my cupboards empty until I absolutely had to buy food...until I found this little heb. This is the only place I buy groceries. It has the small town feel that I'm used to, where employees actually talk to you and remember you. They may not have the ginormous (and quite unnecessary) selection of other massive stores, but they have exactly what I need at decent prices... and I don't need a treasure map to find things. read more

I love my HEB! Does it look spectacular outside? Nope, but it's nice & clean inside where it counts! The staff here is always super helpful and I even have a couple of regular checkout clerks. I'm in here at least 2-3 times a week, I think (I usually stop on the way home from work, so get there around 7 pm or so). Last week I went on a Saturday morning at about 11 am - omg, I'll take the weekday evening crowd, thanks. :) Regarding the selection - it works for me: the fruit & veggies are always fresh (I don't care so much about the organic aspect, I admit), the brand selection is good, and the HCF brand prices are awesome. Sometimes I'll go to the HEB on Parmer @ 35 if I need to also gas up, but overall, this is the one for me! Great staff & great prices! read more

This location is convenient and the lines move pretty quickly. I hit it on my way home from work so it just works out. I prefer this location over Parmer as it is less congested and the staff seems a bit friendlier. Not too bad read more

Place is pretty much well stocked at all times. Seafood and produce dept is helpful and nice. Meat dept not so much. If they don't have a particular meat on the shelf you better hope the person you gonna ask will be willing to help. Sometimes helpful sometimes pretty lazy and not so much. DECEPTIVE! HEB is bait-n-switch, total scamming folks like an illegal drug gang. I'm going to Wal-Mart from now on. HEB posted prices arenot shown in a clear hope nest fashion. They love misleading customers. Their pricing and signing of prices are illegal: meat at "per pound" price, are posted with the "LB" cut off to where you can't read it. Then when the mismanager is notified, she is just civil enough to not warrant a call to my VP friends at the San Antonio Headquarters of HEB. Still, I may call them... Their pricing "errors" are always in favor of the store. Never do the computer errors favor the customer. I don't buy much in groceries, maybe $200/week. But from now on I'm going to Trader Joe's in the Arboretum, Sprouts nearby, or Walmart. Never again to HEB... read more

Horrible customer service in the deli department. As I showed up to the counter there were other people being served so obviously I had to wait. Understandable. There were two younger adults and one of them seemed very new to the position as he was asking a lot of questions from the other person. There was on older gentleman in the area but he was packaging rotisserie chicken and he had the demeanor that he couldn't be bothered. At this point simply telling me that someone will be with me in a minute would have been great and easy to do. That tells me that I am being acknowledged as a valued customer. Nope. I've been to other HEBs and this seems to be the only one where this happened. I blame the Managers and supervisors at this location for not training properly and holding employees accountable. read more

Dear H-E-B, I've been coming here for years and my only issue would be that I have never once had a bagger. I've always had people walk away and comeback only after I'm done but that's it. I average an $80 haul each time and it is difficult to keep up with the scanner. Is there a certain criteria you have to meet to get a bagger? If so, it seems like it's a rather arbitrary system since the people who get bagged (at least while I'm there) have smaller loads. I'm already having to pay extra for these bags yet I can't get someone to help. read more

I hate shopping, Especially for groceries. This HEB is fast and always has what I'm looking to buy. A few months ago I went in and they didn't carry camel crush cigs. I made a comment and they now carry them. I'm impressed. Lines are fast. They need to update the cashier area. It looks much more chaotic than it is making the store appear old and frustrating. It also needs self checkout lanes. I'd like more donuts. They are always out of chocolate glazed. I'd recommend it though because even though the lot is full it's fast and easy to get in and out. read more

In general I like HEB, but this location is far below other locations. To start, the store is way too small for a heavily populated area with limited grocery store options. The little bit of close competition, a Randalls on Parmer, was closed a few years ago. The store also has a dated feel and it feels like a 1980's grocery store that hasn't been updated in years. It's 2010 and they also still don't have self-checkouts, which I strongly prefer during the evening rush. The store also frequently runs out of stock on common items and I find myself running to Wal-Mart or to the HEB location at McNeil and Parmer. I like that they have Sweet Leaf Tea, but their stocking system seems to never catch that they always have original Sweet Leaf Tea and almost never have the Green Leaf Sweet Tea that I like. The only good items are that it's close to where I live and the prices are fairly reasonable. read more

So I never thought I would review a grocery store but I am after reading some of the terrible reviews of this location. This is by far my favorite HEB or all the ones that are within a few miles from my house. I purposely drive past 2 other HEBs just to get to this one. It is always clean, neat and the service people are extremely friendly. There are some icons like "Joe" the greeter/bagger/all-around-knows-everything-about-the-store guy to the super nice manager who has ordered 2 products for me when I couldn't find them and helped out when I lost my ID/CC and was stuck at the checkout. Their selection is varied and they always push sale items, not necessarily the most profitable organic foods but if you wanted to choose organic or even ethnic there are options too. No, its not the mecca of ethnic options - TechRidge/Parmer is known for that but it is consistent and healthy. Honestly, I get near panic attacks when I go to TechRidge/Parmer or the Far West location because its too crowded and confusing layout. My Parmer/Mopac HEB is peaceful and inviting, clean and well stocked - not like the others around my house where I feel like I need a bath after leaving because it was overcrowded and dirty. So that's it. I love my Parmer/Mopac HEB over the 6 that are within a few miles from my house. I don't even go to the others for just milk. read more

I went to the store on Parmer and Mopac today to get some staples before going getting surgery tomorrow. I'm in a lot of pain (herniated discs, left neck/shoulder) and went during the afternoon to avoid the crowds. Got a few items and went to the express line. The cashier must have not have liked me for some reason, because she was in a big hurry to get rid of me. I wasn't moving too fast, I know, but she seemed a little impatient with me and threw my receipt down on the counter. It was in a place where I'd have to reach in a painful way to get it...she ignored me when I tried to ask her to hand it to me. I have contacted HEB about this, but I'll be looking for other places to shop...when I get healthy. read more

Checker- Darren.... A totally cool guy! Nice and polite and fast. There are many rude young ladies that work at this location, but Darren is a nice change of pace. It is hard to work as a checker, because the public is not normally nice. I will always look for this checker cause I know I won't have to deal with a snotty attitude! Store- Always clean and the people stocking (mainly dudes) are really polite. Be careful during busy hours because the foot traffic can be scary. Parking Lot- eeek! Police Cars- The police park where ever they want ....even if its in a driving lane. Watch out for those guys parking illegally. I had one pull over in my lane without a signal and did not even bat an eye when he parked and blocked the road. read more

This star is for the pharmacy. If I could give negative I would. My husband always gets calls/texts that's his prescriptions are ready and everytime we get there they are NEVER ready and we have to 30+ min. So, I tried to do it through calling them to fill the prescription so it would be ready before I got there. Well, they were closed when I called and the status said processing which to me that means that in the morning they would see that and fill the prescription...well I went to pick it up and the lady told me there was no prescription filled for my husband and it would be 30 min, what a surprise!! After I patiently waited an hr and watched them bring other ppl up to the counter to get their prescriptions they have waited on AFTER me I finally went up and asked if my husbands was ready and she pulled it out of the bin...I said I've been waiting over there for an hour and she said I'm sorry it's really busy because its Monday. Funny how they came to get every other person that was waiting and for some weird reason I was forgotten about..horrible customer service and this happens every single time!!! Unfortunately this is the only HEB my husbands medication can be picked up from because of the insurance plan but why have a refill automated system if you arnt going to fill the prescription anyways?? read more

You know, I've shopped at HEB for years. Let me tell you what is really bothering me about this location, and many others at this point in Austin, Texas. You need to get your act together and start supplying plastic bags to your customers again, since the Texas Supreme Court ruled the city bag bans illegal. But yet, you are still scamming your customers by selling bags, making lots of profit for your upper corporate folks. How long are you going to ride the scam wave? I went there recently, and the clerk asked me if I wanted a bag. I simply told her yes, if it was free. She checked out my six items or so, and just left them on the counter, and gave me the receipt. I'm so sick of this nonsense. HEB, you need to provide bags to your consumers in Austin. You can do it in the surrounding cities, now get with the program and do it in Austin again. Even Randalls has always supplied at least paper bags. Stop the scam. read more

Am I the only one who feels kind of silly review a grocery store? Then again, there is a lot to say on the subject. The older I get, the more I realize the differences between groceries really do matter. Or maybe I am just getting old. Anyway. This is the store I come to most often because it's closest to my apartment. They are just now completing a renovation, and while they didn't do anything major, it did make a difference. The isles are wider now, for example, which is always good, especially in a store that is crowded more often than not. The layout is still not the greatest, but it's an older store, so I try to be understanding that they're doing the best they can with a store that's really too small for the number of customers it has. That also means the selection is not great (almost no ethnic or foreign stuff to speak of, for example), so we go to this location for quick trips, and for epic trips we go a little further down Parmer to the one at Mopac, which is huge and awesome and has pretty much everything short of being an HEB Plus. The major issue I have at this store is the entire check-out process. First of all, on a Friday after 5pm or a Sunday anytime after "church time," it's a nightmare. The checkout stands are so close to the front of the isles that when it's busy, even if all the lanes are open, all the lines reach into the isles, which makes it practically impossible to navigate, whether you're still trying to shop or trying to find a line to stand in. You can hardly tell one line from another. People are constantly cutting in front whenever they can, and using sneaky tactics like pretending they're standing next to you for the checkout stand next to yours, and then when you're not looking, and sometimes when you ARE looking, slowly edging forward until you look like you're behind them, and then would look like an a-hole trying to reclaim your spot. When the lines are not quite that long (meaning you can still push a cart behind the end of the lines), I often times pick a line, and then get directed to another one by a checkout manager. This would be fine if the new line were truly shorter, but that has never happened. Every time I've been directed to another line, it's taken MUCH longer than the other line would have taken. In a store that's already annoying to be in, this can be really frustrating. So overall, it's okay, but it does have some issues. read more

I'm giving this HEB four stars for one reason only, they consistently have the most friendly and helpful employees of all the HEB's I have visited. The produce selection is not as robust and some of the newer stores and they do not have a bulk section, but for day to day items it is convenient. read more

The people at H-E-B (this one in particular) make the difference. They are very helpful especially when I'm shopping with my two babies. I appreciate their help unloading my cart, bagging the groceries, and helping me out to the car. The people are very friendly. H-E-B prices are great. Our family especially likes the H-E-B brand products. The quality is high and the price is right. The only reason it did not get five stars is that their parking lot is small and gets busy fast and that is not their fault. Thanks H-E-B! read more

This morning I made a trip to my HEB, I wanted some Boars Head turkey from the deli department. I placed my order then I asked a question. Instead of the clerk just answering with a simple yes we have that or no we don't have that he gave me biology session. He was extremely condescending. I don't remember his name, but he was an older guy with salt&pepper hair. Maybe he was upset because he is almost a senior citizen and has to work in the deli department at the local grocery store. Not my fault, he should have prepared better for his golden years. I'm really getting tired of these cranky old people in this town. read more

I normally shop the Parmer and Mopac HEB. Occasionally I also shop the #4 shop off of Far West and my husband shops the McNiel store(although I wish he didn't). Of course the Far West store is unique with its Kosher deli and its live sushi people and excellent florist. But I like the Parmer and Mopac better than the McNiel store because at the latter all the expensive versions of produce are put out front and you have to hunt around for the normal produce. My husband won't do this (and I'll bet most won't), so this results in my husband bringing home five-dollar strawberries and others expensive produce. The McNiel store must push alot of Central Market stuff, because he's always bringing home expensive wannabe-hippie food, too. At MY HEB at Parmer and Mopac they try to point out all the sales of the week. They also sell garden soils and plants. They have a nice mix of staff, with regard to races, ages, languages, etc., making it a little like shopping at the UN, which is cool. They have a whole aisle of Asian stuff. The pharmacy at the Parmer/Mopac store is so tiny and often has someone new, it seems. It's so crowded BEHIND THE COUNTER that I don't see how they keep from beating each other up in frustration. They often don't have what you need in stock, but that has to do with a "just-in-time" stocking policy that a lot of companies are using for a lot of things. I will say that the Far West store has it over both the others when it comes to the florist, though. And at MY HEB they know a lot of customers by name, and try to make you happy, and really care about you. read more
