I understand HEB has a 10-item policy at self checkout, and I acknowledged that. I even told the self-checkout lead, Chris, "Sir, I'm having a really hard day, I just need a little grace. I'm only taking ten items." I was calm, cooperative, and trying to make things easier. Instead, he pulled my cart toward him and said, "Well lady, why the hell did you come over here with all this stuff?" referring to a small basket with about 16 items. He then continued making comments and jokes while employees and customers watched, making me feel embarrassed and humiliated over groceries. I was not stealing, arguing, or causing a disturbance. I simply needed a quick stop at the store during a difficult day. Policies can be enforced without mocking or publicly shaming someone. I appreciate that HEB has several locations. However, with any HEB, the parking lot is usually a bit crazy. This one was no exception. Being my first visit to this location, I appreciated that it was easy to navigate. I was able to find what I needed in a relatively quick amount of time. While it was the day before Easter, the lines weren't too bad. I only had a few items so I was able to go to the fewer items line. The store was clean and there was a wide variety of items to choose from. Overall, this is another solid HEB. When I'm in North Austin again, I will not hesitate to go back. read more

This is my HEB I ha e been going here for around 4 years.. They have recently renovated the store which makes it looks more modern and fleet. Normally the store is well stoked with my favorites but as of late that hasn't been the case... The service or customer service is always on point........ Thenreason for the 1 star is because I bought a 10 pack Mini Dr Pepper, not noticing anything strange about the product when I put it into my basket .. When I got home and started to unload my groceries I felt something very sticky on my hand, well after getting into the house I noticed that the DR pepper had some foreign substance on the bottom, that went all across the bottom, as you can see in the picture.. At that point she turns her back to me and gets on the store phone. I ask her is she going to ring me up but she will not even look at me. Zero communication except for eye rolling. Currently under construction* We love to visit this H‑E‑B, and are always happy to be rung out by Diane. Even though there is some construction going on outside and inside, they still have a great selection of food and other products, and there's plenty of parking. The quality of their produce, and meats cannot be beat! Located in a shopping center, peak hours tend to get a bit hectic, but non-peak hours are the best times to go! Wow.... pardon all of the big inconveniences while we remodel! Shopping carts are across the drive and down one of the parking aisles. Way down one of the parking aisles. That would be a HUGE bummer in the rain. It wasn't helpful in the frigid temps I was specifically looking for the coffee aisle for filters.... and finally figured out after much walking that was the aisle which was in no way marked. There is nothing fluid about this HEB.... and extremely congested at the front. HEB....you can do a lot better... even when you're remodeling. read more

Store manager Michael implied a simple return for store credit without receipt despite the item definitely originating at this location, was possibly fraudulent/stolen goods. I have never been turned away for something so simple and low rent in my life. The item is brand new, sealed and in mint condition, and the manager even lied about the return policy, which I verified with the service manager to block the return. I picked up some medication from the pharmacy and needed to take it straight away. And as I was leaving, I walked up to two young gentleman H‑E‑B employees who were standing at the checkout lines, sort of talking amongst themselves and monitoring. I asked them if they had a water fountain or drinking fountain. They said no we don't. And I said thank you and struggled to walk away, to find the exit. As I'm leaving, one of the young men comes running after me with a bottle of water. "Here you go." I thanked him, and he said "Take care." What heroes. I know that's not common practice. It's my first time at this convenient location, I believe. I was passing through town and needed a few essentials. One was a bolillo roll. It kind of looks like a torpedo roll and it tasted fresh. The manager was very kind to ask the bakery lady (no name tag, too bad, she was so sweet) were there any single rolls left. HEB usually collects them at the end of the day and sells them in bags. She volunteered to open a bag just so that I could have one. I was kind of worried that they made accommodations for me, but they said they make a new product when the bulk bag is off count. But still, that was very nice of her. The manager also showed me where they're healthier living section is. I was impressed that they had the bulk self serve which I hadn't seen yet in the Austin area, and this is a small store compared to many I have been to. The advantage of a small store is you can shop faster. While I was there I picked up some herbs and treats. They tasted fresh, except the squares which looked like is a local favorite, because it is half gone in the dispenser. The cashier was very sweet and asked if I wanted a bag. I said yes thinking I'd get a regular shopping bag, but he gave me a nice reusable one. It will come in so handy later. I hope some day they will carry single boxed juices in grape flavor. I noticed that they did have a Glacier Water vending machine outside for 40 cent refills which isn't bad at all. Other than that, I think this is a nice store that is trying to become a better store. I suppose I'm just used to the setup of other H-E-B locations, but I find going to this one rather disorienting. I'm still able to find all of the things I'm looking for, but it takes me a little longer due to the setup, which seems almost flipped from a standard store setup. One thing I do quite enjoy is that they occasionally have booths set up for samples - always a nice touch! In general, I'm a huge fan of H-E-B (probably one of my favorite things about Texas, at least in the top 50!) but this is not my favorite H-E-B to visit. I tend to come here more out of convenience when I'm in the area and only need to pick up an item or two... never if I need to do my regular shopping. read more

Good old HEB on North Mopac. You've been my neighborhood grocery store for almost 15 years now and we've settled into a comfortable long-term relationship. Yeah, you're not as fancy as the HEB at Techridge or Lakeline or Far West, and you don't have the selection of hippie stuffs available at Whole Foods or Natural Grocer down the road, but you're always there when I need to drop in (which is often) for household staples. I may venture out to other stores, but I always come home to you. Your friendly tenured staff members like Joe and Mary and Si have been there as long as I've been a customer, and they always greet me like a loved neighbor. They've watched as my grocery list has matured and my family has grown, and my son thinks of them as familiar friends (the generous provision of Buddy Bucks at each visit doesn't hurt). Even though the traffic pattern around the parking lot of this store can be dangerous and infuriating (what with the busy northbound Mopac and Parmer intersection hugging the property and several fast food drive-thru's on site), I still enjoy coming in to get a taste of my little corner of Austin. I get to sample your new products, buy key ingredients for my world cuisine meals, and clean up on the Combos Locos deals where you practically force me to take home free food. Pro tips: -- Defensive driving skills are a must when entering and exiting this shopping center. People leaving northbound Mopac for Parmer will be driving 65 MPH down that access road to turn right, and they will plow right into you if you're not careful. -- Don't come here on Sunday afternoon unless you have plenty of time to spend; the parking lot will be full and the checkout lines will be long. -- Remember to bring your reusable bags! It's an Austin ordinance that limits use of plastic bags in stores, so don't get mad at HEB about it. -- Beware of the hilly terrain of the store front. If you park in one of the spots facing the store, you may need to work to control your cart as you're unloading it. I've seen carts start rolling down the hill with a panicked shopper chasing behind. read more

It is absolutely unbelievable how poorly this store is managed. I've been told so many lies, false information and absolutely ridiculous statements by managers and "associates ". One checker told me it was "illegal" for cardboard wine carriers to be stored at the check out stand. During remodeling, when everything was a clusterf**k, the floor staff didn't know where anything was when asked. A comment to a manager that his staff should be better trained where products could be located, he replied, "They are not privy to that information". ?!? What?? Customers can know where products are located but H-E-B employees aren't allowed to know?! That doesn't even make good sense. The carts for "to go" groceries are so numerous, they block the aisles and the people manning the carts are oblivious that shoppers cannot access items on shelves or pass down the aisle because there are 3 of them blocking the entire middle of the aisle. I spoke to the cart manager who curtly told me she was busy and did not have time to speak to me. Just blew me off. I then spoke to the manager who never made eye contact with me and gave me a "canned" response. I told him to look at me and address my issue rather than give me a "canned" response. He acknowledged he purposely gave a canned response b/c he was busy and did not have time to address my concern. These are just a few examples of interaction with absolutely clueless management and staff. It's a joke. No one cares b/c they know they monopolize the grocery market and folks are going to shop there anyway. read more

Cheers to the worst H‑E‑B I've ever been to. If I can give 0 stars I would. Yes, I'm aware of the shortage but I find it ridiculous that you manage to have barely any vegan items here. Huge disappointment that I purposely drove into Austin expecting to have better/more options like I did in Houston. But was shocked to see they don't even carry half the options. This is in Austin??? How? Service is the worst. A manager was walking around helping people and completely ignored us. But managed to go to the guy right behind us. Cashier didn't tell us we had to pay for bags. We just happened to ask. This should be upfront. Store is hideous. They're doing construction on one side but the entire store looks very drab and dark. They don't even have a lot of dog food selections compared to other HEBs. I assumed a location right by the Domain would be nice but it's far from it. Stay away if you can. This review is for the pharmacy department, which is AWESOME. For one, everyone I've ever talked to here has been not only polite but very friendly -- I call here every few weeks to refill my 1381498127 prescriptions, and I haven't gotten a single person who wasn't incredibly warm and helpful. Special mention to Paige, who ran my meds out to me one day because I was too anxious to set foot in the store and couldn't wait until the next day to start the meds (which had been delayed by the doctor's office); I hadn't known it was even an option and was freaking out about the lack of a drive-through, but she suggested it and I was just so floored that she'd go out of her way to do so (thank you!). Honestly, I feel like the last few months with HEB is the best customer service experience I've ever had with a pharmacy. Their free delivery service is also a lifesaver these days -- you can usually get it scheduled within the next 12-24 hours depending on when your rx comes in -- and their price for uninsured patients is the lowest I can find in the area. I've also never had a problem with any of their generics. Basically, they're great and they're going to be my pharmacy for the foreseeable future. read more

This would be one star, but the service for the store overall is acceptable. Most of the issues are with the pharmacy. There is never any consistent service or quality on display here. You can send in a prescription to be filled on a certain day, wait an entire day, and call in only to learn no one has touched or filled the order at all. It is always up to the customer to pester the pharmacy about getting the request filled regardless of if the prescription has been sent. But you should never call too soon. Any conversation you ever have with the pharmacy will inevitably be null and void by the following day. If they say an order will be ready by tomorrow rest assured this will be a complete surprise to the people actually fulfilling the order and there will be a delay of at least half a day getting your prescription. If your prescription is regarding a specific substance that can cause supply issues, expect to be screwed over in any way possible- there is no system in place to put aside the needed medication so even if they have the supplies available one day they will refuse to ensure it is available when you need the prescription filled, whether that morning or even in the next hour (remember, none of the staff bothers to communicate with itself so any time a doctor says it will be available they are only guessing and hoping the next doctor in the chain has some on hand at the time). All in all an awful pharmacy you should avoid. read more

The shelf is empty. Which is a freaking unsolved mystery since every time I am in here I have navigate around the stockpiles of unshelved inventory clogging/blocking the aisles and the staff attempting to shelve it! But, the avos are a sort spot w/me...they are always out of quality avocados...literally the last 3x I have been in there have been nothing but disgustingly overripe and even some straight out rotten avos as the only things available, unless u want to pay $2/ea for the "large haas" variety, which I do not. OK, but not too impressed. Multiple things that I was looking for that are at other locations not present. However, each location stands on its own. I was surprised at the lack of fresh pressed juices and specific non-cured items that I love from HEB. OK, they stock to please their customers. Got it. While I was roaming from one end to the other, not one employee asked if they could help me finding something, but several were chit chatting and working slowly to stock shelves. I was a bit taken aback, but then I thought this might be a location to find some very hard to find items. Not so. Routine. So to sum it up, this is an OK location, you can get a lot of routine items, the checkout was quick and very friendly. I would not hesitate to stop in again if in the area, but not for speciality items. In addition, I was impressed that it was quite clean for a heavily trafficked store. I did not the gentleman at the meat counter being particularly polite and helpful to a very confused elderly lady. That is a solid star right there. read more

I come here for curbside pickup a lot, and the staff here are great problem solvers as well as being great at their jobs all-around. There was this mixup where the wrong name got matched to my curbside order, and within 5 minutes tops they resolved the issue with honesty and grace. When I bother to go inside the store, every staff member I've met has been attentive, helpful, sincere, friendly, and driven to provide good service. I only wish that the franchise would be more willing to recommend tipping their staff, because they are worth it. read more

this is regarding the pharmacy, mainly. i don't shop here because i can't ever find a partner to help me heb pharmacy austin parmer/mopac every single h-e-b partner that works in that pharmacy is RUDE, condescending, and dismissive! when i call there (and i've timed it), im immediately placed on hold. "heb pharmacy can you hold?" they don't wait for my answer...just placed on hold. last time i called, i waited just over 22 minutes - before anyone came back on the line. the girl finally picked up. she sounded disgusted and put-out. i actually felt as if i'd done something wrong! this happens EVERY TIME I CALL. so, i decided i'd go in person this time. keep in mind, i only wanted to refill my prescriptions. i thought it would save time. it was worse. i was scolded for leaving too much room between myself and the customer in front of me! whaaaat? i worked for heb on far west for almost a year. PARTNERS don't treat customers this way. i found the store manager to voice my opinion of the (lack of) service. i gave him names of specific partners that are continually rude. i told him of the wait time, on the phone, too. he just looked at me and blinked. offered no assistance or advice. i will now ask for pharmacist. i will explain the situation to pharmacist. after going thru the heb training and once hired, we had to watch all those mandatory videos. those videos were mainly about how customer service and how PARTNERS are expected to treat customers with kindness and respect. read more
