I miss shopping here. It's not an HEB Plus, but the Plus part isn't anything I shop in. This is a neighborhood location, so when I popped in on the day before a major ice storm in January of 2026, the parking lot was only somewhat full, but it didn't look any fuller than 5pm on a weekday, or midday on a Saturday. The store had been affected by panic shopping, so the milk was gone, as were eggs. However, they made a display of almond and oat milk. I'm not sure if it was going to encourage anyone to try them, but it was a nice effort to provide an option. I just popped in because I wanted some cold brew coffee and yogurt, and I was in the area. Surprisingly a lot of the name-brand yogurt was gone too (I don't understand why; it wasn't on sale and is it a panic buying item??), but I just wanted a couple generic ones. Also, most of the cold brew was gone. I didn't expect that either. But I managed to get one. The check out lines weren't horrible, just like a regular busy day. The person working the checkout was effective and the bagger worked quickly. I appreciated that. I was in and out under 10 minutes. If I lived in the area, I would definitely shop here. read more

This location is great! Its where i film my prescriptions and those are the days ill skip Walmart (nextdoor to my house) and shop here instead. They have an amazing selection of items and great sales. Get the app to scan coupons in the store and save you time and money. I knocked off one star just because someone in the pharmacy returned my prescriptions to the shelf early and without a call to warn me. read more

The whole store is easy to navigate and I love how clean and new the store feels. We will probably drive a little farther to shop here from now on. Since my move to Texas, I've come to love H-E-B for its large selection of quality goods, friendly staff, and convenient locations. I have started shopping here after setting up my new office in the neighborhood. I like how this store (and all H-E-B locations) tend to accommodate the local wants and needs. There is a large Jewish population in the surrounding community and the store's Kosher items (particularly in the deli) reflect that. Highly recommended. read more

Had a Great experience with the curbside pickup. Being disabled, it/they were really helpful. Was a little learning curve to figure it out, and was reluctant to give it a try, but glad I did. :) Made the challenge of shopping a little easier for me. Being diabetic, as well, liked how one could choose not to substitute. Only suggestion I might have is to make it so one can choose "No substitutions" for Everything(All items), instead of manually having to go tjru each item. All in all, though, Great experience!! I love my local neighborhood HEB!- But not being inside it since I avoid fluorescent lighting in expansive spaces if I can. I love this HEB for their curbside friendliness. I almost never pick up my groceries in the timeslot I choose, because of my busy schedule. Yet they are so gracious every single time, providing curtesy calls and NEVER with an attitude. This is the closest H-E-B to me and Im happy I no longer have to accept being closest the one on East Riverside drive. When I do have to go inside this store, the attentive staff at the self checkout are unusually pleasant! It's not chaotic (like many HEBs) so I usually stop by the floral section to treat myself to a $3.98 bouquet of flowers. read more

Do I recommend this business? Hell yes. They really really support local schools with money, in-kind donations and executive involvement. As the adopt-a-school coordinator for my daughter's school, I experienced this personally. I love their Organics line. I love their annual celebration of Hatch chilis and other Texas traditions and foods. When Covid hit, they were the first to provide curbside shopping. They were among the first to provide the vaccine. Their pharmacy has been so careful with my mom's meds. I'm fairly confident that they've saved her life. The quality of their food is outstanding, comparatively speaking, and Central Market is a delight. Their flowers! Long stemmed roses for $1 on Tuesdays! Most of the HEB's I've been to have been very sensitive to the needs of their specific community. For example, in an Asian area, the Asian aisles are full of new and interesting choices; in a Jewish area, they have a kosher deli. They carry a great choice of Hispanic brands, too. The wine department is super well stocked, too. I've had several conversations with the wine buyer, and he really knows his stuff. And the number one reason why I love HEB? They really pay attention to what's going on and they get ready before everyone else does. Bad weather coming? H-E-B has all the supplies. Another wave of Covid coming? HEB offered self testing kits before anyone else in Austin. My local H-E-B is one of the smallest I've seen, and yet, I rarely have to go shopping anywhere else. read more

By far the best HEB in our area. It's organized and relatively clean. You can always find parking even when it's busy. I've had a few encounters with staff members that have been helpful and friendly. They also have a kosher section, which not all HEBs have, so that's cool if you're Jewish. Their meat counter is also much better than other HEBs. Big fan of the prime tri tip, wagyu butterflied fajita beef, and their pork ribeyes. They even have a counter by the back that does demos and samples of prepared foods and sauces. read more

Me and my family always go to a different grocery store when we are in different states because we believe that we should experience new things including grocery stores! We needed to pick up a few things like water and fruit. The fruit was super fresh. We went through self check so I can not advise you on how the service is. It was super clean and nice. HEB overall is five stars. This Far West one needs a face lift, but it's my neighborhood store and I'm 100% loyal. Fresh produce always, and that's most of my purchase. They also have a good selection of health items, not as gourmet as Central Market or as natural as Whole Foods, but they now carry more ancient grains, quality pasta, artisan sauces and cheese, tofu and both local and imported items. Also worth mentioning is a wonderful staff, many have been there for years. I recently saw a young trainee struggling with remembering the codes, and another employee not much older helping with bags playfully gave him some tips. He was so respectful in front of customers -- left smiling to see such kindness. read more

This is closest H-E-B in the Far West area which makes it fairly busy. There is APD that roams the store aisles to deter stealing. The store went through a recent renovation. They have new grab and cook pre-packaged dinner options. Great prices on fresh cilantro, leeks, peppers, but I don't buy many other grocery items. Freshness can be major misses. I occasionally buy bone-in chicken breast. Beef is quite tough. The H-E-B jalapeños bacon is delicious! The German bread is delicious in bakery. Excellent beer selection, if you see it, grab it because it is gone. They have great big parking lot and side parking as well. read more

At this location... - Produce can be iffy. - The cheese is at the deli, not in the dairy section! - There's quite a large kosher deli. - Sells bulk nuts, dried fruit, flour, spices, etc. - Recently started carrying eggs that are "Certified Humane", which are impossible to find at any mainstream grocery store. - Nice beer/wine selection. - Baked goods are mediocre. I'm a big fan of this HEB. Since the pandemic I've been ordering groceries to go by curbside. In the beginning there could be several days wait before getting a spot but in the last month or so I've always been able to pick up on the following day. I use the app and that makes it easy to see what's in stock although occasionally I will get a substitution but rarely am I disappointed with them. When I pick up the groceries they usually deliver them very fast. There's also some nice shady spot to park the car so you don't have to leave it running the whole time. So, why not five stars? They just don't have a good selection of killer tortillas. The bakery is fine the kosher department is great but great tortillas are missing. read more

The renovation of this HEB turned out well. Nice wide aisles, clean and really stocked. I was really surprised by the Kosher section which was off to the side like a little deli. I found everything I was looking to obtain, the place was really clean and the staff was really friendly to me. Things were located in different areas than the other H.E.B's that I use, but when I am up in this area of town again, I will definitely make use of this one. Not bad. Not bad at all. read more

Due to distance, is is not my main HEB, but it is my preferred. The fruit and veggie section is better than others, and the other sections have a good selection as well. I am vegan and I appreciate that this location carries some of the products that other HEB do not. With that being said, there are some products that HEB does not carry. That drives me up a wall, but again, at this one there are some things it carries and some it does not. This location is always clean and we'll organized. read more

While I stand by the H‑E‑B brand, the location.on Far West Blvd. has got to be one of the single worst grocery stores I've ever shopped. First, they are consistently out of stock on common items. Just cannot count on them to have staple things. Second, they've got a serious meal moth issue. If you don't know what those are, look it up. The moths infest food, esp cereals and grains. The moths are all over this store even swarming around my head in the checkout lane. It's gross and I brought it up to a store manager he acknowledged they had a problem. The staff are nice but there's almost always lines to check out. Just too many reasons NOT to shop here. read more

This is one of my favorite HEB locations because they always have things stocked and I never have a problem when I go here. The set up of the HEB is well organized and things are just easy to find. The staff is always friendly helpful as well which is really important to me. They also have kosher options if that's what you're interested in. The bathrooms are clean which is good because I hate disgusting bathrooms. They recently installed self check out stations which helps because it can get pretty busy here depending when you come. read more

I have a love hate relationship with this H‑E‑B. The location itself is small but has a good amount of products. However, I continuously find expired perishable foods left on shelves, sometimes to the point that there's a foul smell. I've accidentally purchased expired products twice already, both times were from the dairy section. I've never really had problems with accidentally purchasing expired food at other places so I don't have the habit of checking dates, but at this H‑E‑B, unfortunately I had to start. Noticed something today shopping here since the statewide mask mandate has been lifted. They have brought back the door greeter with hand sanitizer & wipe wipes who makes a point to almost aggressively greet customers, these greeters have been absent for the past couple months. I also find it odd that HEB thinks we as adults don't know how to use the automatic hand sanitizers at the door entrances that have been there for 1 year. Another observation was the self checkout assistant who has circled back to using the line "STEP BACK! and I'll fix it" if your scanner has an issue. This type of behavior died down months ago as well. Maybe the person who schedules the placement of employees might want to consider not putting someone with such a high germaphobe issue in a position working directly with the public? Maybe stocking shelves at night might be a better suited position? read more

This used to be my HEB before I moved 6 miles away, and I miss it fiercely. - Easy entry from both Wood Hollow and Village Center streets, if you're coming from inside the neighborhood on NW Hills or from the freeway off Far West. It's far enough removed from the freeway that you're not having to worry about fast traffic when exiting, but close enough that it takes only a minute out of the way. - Good selection of items without feeling like it's overstocked (like many HEB Pluses) or missing lunch staples (like Parmer). There are enough customers that items don't sit forever and get stale on the shelf like at the Exposition Randall's. - Friendly workers - Bright, comfortable aisles with a layout that makes sense (no doubling back for things!) - Best of all, in close proximity to a public library (Old Quarry shares its parking lot), USPS (around the corner), and a CVS and a liquor store if you need 'em. To be honest, sometimes I go to this HEB instead of my new neighborhood HEB out of nostalgia. read more

Posting this here since we haven't heard back from HEB headquarters. Hopefully it will help others make an informed choice in light of COVID. My husband was at this HEB site on Wednesday just after noon and said he was turning down an otherwise empty aisle when he saw an employee just standing in it looking around at the ceiling. Weird vibe, so he hung back. The employee then removed his face mask, licked his hands and rubbed them on the bags on the shelves, put the mask back on, and headed up front. My husband said he followed him from a distance to the front of the store where the employee got onto a register as a cashier. He thought the name tag was "Stephan" or "Stephen" and did speak with a manager named Heather, who he said seemed skeptical and busy and had other managers interrupting her throughout the brief conversation. My neighbors and I have all had challenges with this location over the past 4-5 years. I've purchased almond milk and other items that had the protective seals under the caps already removed once we got them home. Just some odd encounters and food (although the folks manning the sushi counter have always been just the kindest and friendliest with our questions, so maybe it's limited to a department elsewhere). Since other HEB locations are fantastic, most of us in my neighborhood and moms' group just don't mess with this one. I forgot to tell my husband before his errand, though. Would definitely recommend using one of the many other HEB locations in Austin. read more

I am personally a fan of this HEB. It's organized well and you can see all of the aisles if you walk down the centre divider. It has a solid selection of bakery items (can't beat those $1 french loaves or delicious fresh hawaiian rolls) and modest amount kosher items. It's always clean and it doesn't stress me out to walk into like the other Super HEBs. It has a 5 item or less checkout by the produce section which is fantastic for when you just want that quick in and out run, although check-out lines are pretty well staffed and I've never had an issue with long waits. Overall would recommend and I kind of wish I could take this store with me whenever/wherever I end up moving. read more

Great neighborhood HEB. The only thing that makes it really unique is the Kosher store. Otherwise is is a midsized food centric HEB. Like many store they have expanded their prepareD foods. I like their Israeli couscous salad. Buy some prepareed shredded chicken anD you have a great lunch (or several ready for the week). Remodeled store is essentially the same with self serve check outs. They have sushi (I'd pass). Deli. Butcher and fish counter. Decent wine selection. Better beer selection. read more

I do love the produce section here at this HEB. It's the freshest around town. Everything else is so -so. I used to Love the bakery but it's not what it used to be. Their protein and health area is good with array of products to choose from. Seafood could better but their red meat selection is great. Overall not bad. Parking is complicated sometimes. read more

This is one of my favorite HEB stores because you can find items here that I have not seen in other HEB stores & I think that is because it is a kosher store as well as a store that carries products that I remember seeing in my trips to NYC every summer for many years. Oh how I hate thee. It isn't all HEB's fault per se. Admittedly, I do have issues with grocery shopping ... why is it that people think it's "OK" - or better yet, at this location "desirable" to be rude in a grocery store? People do not say excuse me, even when they literally run into your cart or you, apparently eye contact is against the rules, and people here seem to think they are the only one in the store as they talk on their cell phone, with their cart in the middle of the aisle. Or, when they don't talk on their cell phone, with their cart in the middle of the aisle. I believe my most memorable encounter was with the freaky hippie (I like hippies - just not this one) in the organic section. The area is much smaller in aisle size than the already 2.25' wide aisles in the rest of the store - well, apparently going down the same aisle as this guy in that section, more than once, put him over the edge as he forcefully threw his cans of whatever in his cart, mumbled under his breath, and blasted off into the rest of the store like he had explosive diarrhea. People here are tripping, hard, and I can't figure out why. Take Earl, the fish fucker at the fish counter, you can find him on any given day providing you with his lovely presence of disgruntled-ness. He is guaranteed sunshine on a cracker. He has no problem letting you know he is doing you a huge favor - and is pissed the hell off about it. This is only after he ignores you at the counter, while he plays hide and seek in the crabs and saran wrap for a minimum of 5 minutes first. So after you have survived getting your groceries in here, you are ready to be ran over in the parking lot on your way out. read more

Don't know whatcha got til it's gone... I miss HEB. It was one stop shopping for me. And their prices were better than anything I could find on say, Amazon Pantry. I have moved to a city with multiple grocery chains, but I often have to try several stores to find certain items that HEB always had. It's a FWP, I know. But HEB will always be the standard for me. Pros: This particular HEB has a GREAT bulk foods and spices section at amazing prices. Freshly ground peanut butter was cheaper than buying peanuts by the lb and grinding it myself at home. There's nothing like that where I am. The only store near me where I can get bulk spices is Whole Paycheck, and their selection is paltry compared to this HEB. No one here even knows what I'm talking about when I mention buying by the lb. (Ok, so I sound snooty and elitist.) The Jewish deli has great food at great prices. Cons: The other deli in the store had ok food. it was passable but not great. Their in-store sandwiches and salad display were still a much better deal in my view. I love the fact that carried some local produce, but I wish they had more. While this was not the location for fresh tortillas, the Rundberg location was not that far for me to drive. I wish they had self check out lines. As of March 2017, they did not. Lastly - I've read that some reviewers hate their system of weighing and labeling your produce yourself. I LOVE this system! I'd far rather deal with this than wait behind someone who didn't weigh theirs. I wish we had this in Raleigh. read more

We just had another great experience last night at this HEB, and now I just feel compelled to share. My fiancee and I were shopping late last night, and just before we were about to step out the door, it started POURING RAIN! I mean it was dumping buckets! Just then, an HEB employee came running up to us with an extra large umbrella and offered to escort my fiancee to his car, so he could pull it around and I wouldn't get wet. Then, as we were pulling away, we saw him doing this several other times with other customers. Isn't that so nice? Way to go HEB! read more

Ahhh...Good 'ol Harry Ecchy Butts! Anyone who's lived in Austin (or Texas) for most of their lives can tell you how much this chain has improved over the years. The Far West location is probably the best store in the chain when it comes to variety of organic goods, fresh meats, fish and produce. One of the best beer, wine, and cheese selections this side of Central Market as well. Never had a problem with the staff or management, and if I have to bag my own groceries, it's no big deal given the amount of seniors here who do need help out the door. Be forewarned...this store gets extremely crowded at times with pushy, rude, and arrogant a-holes. It's not the store's fault that they sit in the middle of a rampantly snobbish, and entitlement-driven demographic. My compliments to the staff and management for not going postal on them. Last night there was a guy blocking an entire aisle. 1. Because he was HUGE. 2. He was talking on his cell. 3. See my comment on the local demographic above. There was a little old lady trying to get around this clueless ape, So I whacked into his AMPLE behind with my cart while pretending to look at canned goods. Homeboy spun around pretty quick and was about to snarl until he saw the 6'3' guy with pony tail and tat's giving him the GTFOOTW glare. LOL! Yeah, I don't fit the demographic. Please move. Also worth mentioning, this HEB caters to the local Jewish community and has a kosher deli and small kosher market located in the store. Very nice touch! read more
