I took the day off of work and came in to look at Toyotas last Friday in the middle of the day…read more What's funny is I didn't even realize I had bumped into the General Manager, Erika Olson, and I was able to laugh and joke around with her. Beyond that, Erika was sitting at the front desk and was the first person I ran into. Which is wild to me, since most car dealership GMs aren't that easily accessible or reachable. I ended up working with Evan Olivier and I had one of the best car shopping experiences I've ever had. Evan was extremely personable and real with me. He mentioned the extended warranty one time, I mentioned I wasn't interested and that I had a bad experience with extended warranties in the past, and he didn't bring it up again. He didn't try to push unwanted services or products on me and respected my position on upsold products. I can't say the same for other dealerships... Otherwise, we were able to test drive 4Runners and Tacomas and I learned a ton about Toyota's the day that I visited. Evan was extremely knowledgeable about the different generations and capabilities they had and Evan being a Seattleite, knew what driving a Tacoma or 4Runner would be like in the city because he owned one, it wasn't just word vomit to be more agreeable with me. Instead of doing this crazy test drive, we parallel parked the Tacoma outside the dealership, we reversed into a parking spot, and we even focused on the turn radius like I'd experience in a Seattle parking garage, we almost took it to my apartment complex to check garage door heights to see if it would actually fit in my apartment complex, but phoned ahead and my apartment manager let me know it was a no-go for that specific 4Runner. Evan and I literally tested the exact things you need to check out when you live in Seattle and management was 100% okay with doing this odd check I had requested like taking it to my apartment complex. A+ for effort! The warranty transparency, pricing, knowledge, and information Evan shared with me and the experience overall was worth dropping a note here for others to review. I hope this has given you, the reader (yes you), reading this now the confidence in choosing Toyota of Seattle for your next vehicle and working with Evan Olivier to buy your next vehicle!

I made an appointment, not a walk-in, and unfortunately the customer service was very…read moredisappointing. No one came to say hello or even acknowledge me when I arrived. When they finally started checking me in, I was told that four staff members were busy. I understand that a business can be busy, but that's not the point. A simple "Hi, thank you for waiting. How can I help you?" would have made a big difference. Instead, I was met with an attitude that made me feel like my business wasn't appreciated. He even said that Lexus dealers must not be busy because they were so busy. That completely missed my point. I was talking about the quality of customer service, not how busy they were. I have been a customer here before and definitely remember receiving much better service, especially with different staff members. This experience was disappointing, and the quality of service has clearly gone down. After this experience, I'm honestly not sure I feel comfortable coming back, even though I still have 3 oil changes remaining from the package I purchased.

Last Saturday, my partner spoke with Jim about a Honda Civic. Jim asked my partner to speak with John, who was in the office that day. When we arrived, John was incredibly friendly. He kept referring to my partner as "my friend," and showed us pictures of his recent trip to Ireland. He also immediately started talking to my partner as if the purchase of the car was a done deal. He accompanied us on a test drive of the vehicle. During the test drive, John mentioned taking the car onto the freeway, but then directed my partner back to the office after driving right down the street, circling a lot, and then driving back. When we arrived back at the office, John pulled out some paperwork and gave it to my partner. Again, he was acting as if the transaction was a done deal. When we started trying to negotiate with him, everything changed. "My friend" went straight out the window, his smile turned into a frown, and he said to us twice that he wouldn't have had us come all the way down there if he had known that we were going to try to negotiate. What car dealership expects customers to purchase a vehicle without negotiation? I had to bite my tongue to keep from telling him that he didn't have us come down there, and that we chose to come take a look at the vehicle. At one point, he pulled the old "let me go talk to my boss" routine and stepped outside for a few minutes. When he returned, he refused to negotiate. Needless to say, we did not purchase the vehicle. And also needless to say, we do not recommend this business.

UPDATE: I am happy to report that this dealer sent us a full refund for the $911 surprise…read moreaddition to the car price, and by adjusting the purchase price back down to original expectation we got some tax & fees adjusted down also! Definitely buyer beware, but that is true at almost every car dealership... My husband went in person to purchase a used car they advertised online. He had to sign so many pieces of paper that he lost track. He wrote a check with the agreement that he would pick up the car the next day, which he did. However he drove it home (from Seattle to Port Townsend) without an actual bill of sale or purchase agreement. I obtained this the next day by email, some 3 hours after requesting it and found that he had inadvertently paid an additional $911 for (a worthless) protective coating that he had been told was included in the price and already on the car. It was NOT included in the advertised price, and he do his own calculation to add up the numbers to verify what he was told. Typical used car sales practice, but so sad to pull this on an 84 year old man who was really enjoying purchasing his first EV. Now he feels a bit cheated...

Me & my family head out there at 4:30pm and we take a test drive. During the test drive I gave an offer. The salesperson had a cutoff around 5pm so we decide we'll catch up online later. So we leave. Soon they accept my offer and send me the price printout at 5:30pm. I noticed in the printout - the mileage is noted as 32,000mi where in the listing in bmwseattle the mileage was 18,000mi. So i immediately let the salesperson know. He said he'll look into it next morning. The next morning the salesperson confirms and we negotiate on the price over text and we agree. Now at 11:15am - we just set a pickup time of 12-12:30pm today & we start heading out. Suddenly, I get a text back at 11:30am from my salesperson that there is another person in the dealership who is now out in a test drive with the car and they'll let me know if it doesn't go through. I'm like "wait! What?" the rep told me - another rep took the car on a test drive. I ask "why dont you tell them the car is sold?" They offer me "another car is coming in which we can offer you as backup". Then after I vent my frustration- the sales manager reaches out to explain that the second person was already on a test drive and they have the right to buy the car. Also tells me that the posted car photos have the mileage correct at 32,000 even though the listing says 18,000. I told him "the photos were not posted yesterday to the website". He tells me: "oh well, they are up now". Anyways - i hang up at this point realizing this is not a useful conversation. Absolutely unprofessional & definitely not something expected from a "premium" brand.
