I took my beloved 2017 Ram 3500 to Barrett based on reading their reviews. The truck had 830,000…read moremiles on it when they serviced the Aisin Transmission, which is the original and never rebuilt. I noticed when I picked the truck up that the water and fuel light was on and I thought that was a strange coincidence. Over the years this light has come on two or three times after a car wash, and it's an easy fix to clean out the water in the sensor connection. I did that and even replaced the sensor in the rear fuel water separator. The light was still on, even though the fuel looked clean, so I ended up taking it to a shop in Oak Harbor before driving to the Tetons, as that light was bothering me. It turns out the technician at Barrett had inadvertently pinched some wires that ran along the crossmember below the transmission mount when he reattached the cross number. Thus the cause of the water and fuel light. Barrett was extremely honorable and covered the cost of those wire repairs, and the shops diagnostic fee. So the only thing I was out was the cost of a water and fuel sensor and time. At the time of this post, the truck has nearly 832,000 miles as I just did a trip to Teton Valley and back to Washington and the transmission ran beautifully. The service work the technician did was otherwise perfect and this type of mistake could happen to anyone, so I do not fault Barrett and I would gladly use them again and intend to. The fact that they honored this situation without question is an indication of a shop that has integrity.

I'll be back with any of my transmission needs. I came in…read morewith the recommendation of several of my ASE mechanic friends from different local repair shops as I had red fluid pouring out between my tranny and motor. Mark assured me that they'll take an assessment of the issue and get back to me before doing any work. Later in the day I received a phone call from Mark. He shared with me the red fluid was not tranny fluid, however, the specialized coolant my duramax requires. He went on to describe that all fluid levels were appropriate and the tranny and transfer case were in fine shape. Despite feeling a bit embarrassed about not differentiating the difference between the tranny vs coolant fluids, I was extremely grateful that they did not take advantage of me and, instead, went on to show me where the issued was. Such honesty goes a long way these days. Based upon numerous recommendations from mechanics I trust and respect, and Barrett transmission's honesty (and the time they took to further investigate and show me the issue)., I'll be back with any transmission issues or maintenance needs that I might have. Thank you Mark and Cameron (the tech) for your professional and honest assistance. Charlie D, Ferndale

The truck went 193 miles before the transmission seized. From what I know now I'm so thankful it was not towed back to the shop we had the transmission repaired and it ended up in the hands of Mark and Owen at L&D transmission. I must say Mark and Owen were very professional and upfront with us what to expect and genuinely concerned for us in the situation we were in. I felt very at ease knowing they were doing the repairs to rebuild our transmission the way it should have been done from the beginning. THANK YOU, THANK YOU Mark and Owen I can't thank you enough for your honesty, professionalism and kindness. Gina Proctor and Wilfred Letourneau

I strongly recommend not wasting your time with a scamming bunch of hacks at Burt's Automotive…read moreTransmission. It is because of them that I am out over $2100 and am now without a car. Four months ago I took my VW Jetta to Burt's Automotive Transmission to have my clutch repaired. Despite the high cost of over $2100, they seemed to have done a decent job, that was until the clutch they replaced broke four months after being repaired. My car was towed to Burt's where the manager George, who previously worked on my car, informed me that he would get to my vehicle when he was able to find the time. He called me back 7 days later to tell me that the clutch they had replaced only 4 months ago was burnt out and destroyed and that it was not covered by warranty. Now I am 44 years old and have been driving manual transmission vehicles for the better part of my adult life, and I know without any shadow of a doubt that a brand new clutch does not burn out and break apart after four months. To suggest otherwise is absurd, especially after driving the car for over two years before having the clutch replaced originally. George, Burt, and the rest of you scammers, I will get to the bottom of this and this is not the last time you will be hearing from me!
