We were really happy with our stay here. The staff were great, and the location is fantastic.
When I wrote about getting a taxi from the airport the day before our trip, they promptly replied and arranged it. When we arrived, we were greeted with free treats and warm drinks in the lobby. In particular, we had a lovely chat with Nadine at the front desk, who gave us insights on things to do and current events we asked about.
Like a lot of hotels in Europe, it is quite small, but the room itself was not bad at all. In particular, the bathroom was much larger than I expected, and had good amenities such as a blow dryer, heating rack and a nice shower head.
Marais is a lively neighborhood with a lot of personality. It has streets that cater to high end shoppers, but also streets that cater to everyday shopping, so you get a bit of everything. It is close to the Seine riverfront, Victor Hugo's house, the Picasso Museum, the Pompidou Center - to name just a few destinations. But it also has lovely parks and squares (the hotel itself is across the street from a school). We walked pretty much everywhere from here - but opted for the metro when we needed to get back from the Louvre (the hotel is just five minutes' from the St. Paul stop).
The only reason I'm not giving the hotel five stars is because some of the details were missing. We had to call for shampoo our first day, there was only one packet of coffee that was never replenished, and our tissues also were never refilled. The sheets were clean but had what looked like an old coffee stain on them, (hotels just need to trash sheets like this). I think if the hotel paid attention to these details, it would go from being a good to a great experience.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend. read more
