Nice value hotel. There's no doorman, no bellhop, and no luxury frills, but it has a lot else going for it.
The rooms are small, but not atypical for Paris. To give some context, the bathroom door couldn't open all the way because there wasn't any room between the door and the bed. Judging from the exterior of the building, I think the rooms on lower floors are bigger than those at the top.
The hotel is clean and has a fun patriotic French decor. It's very affordable compared to some of the big chain brand hotels in town. The daily breakfast was much better than expected, as was the "open bar" the rest of the day (it's mostly cookies and candy, no alcohol, but nice to have). Free Wi-Fi is appreciated but kind of slow, especially at night.
Location is great. Easy walk to the Lourve. Easy Metro ride to the Eiffel Tower and other sites that are a little too far to walk. Plenty of good restaurants nearby.
There are a few small flaws to note. The temperature control in my room didn't seem to do anything. I like a cool room but couldn't get the temperature right (this hasn't been a problem in any of the last several hotels where I've stayed). The only way to cool down the room was to open the windows, but that's inefficient and lets in tons of street noise.
Walls are pretty thin as well. Every night I heard my next door neighbor making all kinds of ruckus around midnight. You can hear every door slamming on the floor and due to poor door design, these suckers slam HARD. A few were powerful enough to cause me to shake while sitting in bed. read more
