SUMMARY: 3 stars because the room was nice albeit small, bathroom was updated/clean, attentive housekeeping with our room, and good location but front lobby staff was awful and hotel was misleading about restaurant/bar closure.
We were at a very nice 5 star hotel the previous week and then decided to try this hotel for one night on our way back from Northern France before heading back to the States. The location is great, not too far away from the Arc de Triomphe and Champs d'Elysee - quite a touristy area with overpriced cafes serving "so-so" food but that is expected since we were near to one of the main attractions.
The room was nice - very clean (linens were crisp, white, fresh), nicely decorated, mini bar, modern, clean bathroom with amenities. Like almost all hotel rooms in Paris it is was a tight squeeze for three of us. I reserved a room for three since my teenage son was traveling with us. They provided us a room with two twin beds which opened into another room where they had the pull out sofa made into a bed already for my son - nicely done. It is very hard to get a room that will fit more than two people without paying for two rooms and an arm and a leg, and this was perfect, albeit a very tight squeeze.
Hotel housekeeping was fantastic - turnover service, bathroom refreshed, garbage emptied.
The only complaint I have is the front lobby staff - they were not at all helpful particularly the staff (which seemed to be 1 guy only!) after 4 pm. The light in the closet kept blinking continuously on and off and could not be turned off. When I notified the front desk the one man working the desk said he could not fix it and that since the two beds are in the other room I should be able to ignore the blinking light. When I told him my son was seeping in that room he shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do. Another issue was when we tried to change our taxi to arrive at 6:30 am instead of 6:00am. The guy at the front desk (same guy who couldn't help us with the broken light in our room) told me I could not change the taxi arrival time as it would be hard to get a taxi. I found that hard to believe since other than tourists visiting the city the city was deserted because many Parisiennes are on holiday this time of year and we saw a ton of available taxis. Nonetheless we were able to secure a taxi at 6:30 am despite the front desk guy's instance it could not be done.
One other issue at this hotel was the fact that their restaurant was closed from July 30 to August 27 as well as their bar and nowhere on the hotel website did it state that or while I was booking on their website. The front lobby staff didn't tell us even during checkin. We didn't find out until we saw the sign in the elevator. This was a bit inconvenient as we're looking to stay only one night as a stop over and didn't want to have to fuss with going out.
It may have just been bad timing for us there was only a skeleton crew at this hotel but the other hotels we stayed in Paris and in Northern France didn't have any problems servicing their guests and went out of their way to be helpful, which is something that this hotel could have easily done. read more
