We ordered vanilla with raspberry filling and chocolate with salted caramel, plus 6 GF and dairy free cupcakes for specific dietary needs at the party. Everything was incredible, esp that raspberry filling! It's also surprising how great the cupcakes were. I am going to order a gluten free cake for my daughter's shower in a few weeks. It was written in the stars for my fiancé ATT and I to meet Gwen at a bridal expo we attended at Webers. My hubs and I actually set up most of our vendors up north (where our wedding location was) and honestly thought we would find a good baker up there, however had no luck. We visited a few bakers up north and (I) was sorely disappointed because the cakes we tasted were über sweet. Anywho, after we had one taste of Gwen's cake at the expo, we set up an appt. for the following week to do a tasting. She had made a 6-inch cake with four different flavors. I cannot tell you what the flavors were, but we already knew going in, what we wanted. The whole process took maybe 30 minutes and we could not have been more pleased with the whole experience! The location itself is as her house and she did have a very sweet kitty walking around the front part of the house. So those of you allergic to furbabies, make sure you let her know ahead of time or take something before going in. Like the previous yelper had stated, her prices are unbelievably reasonably and by far the most affordable. And I LOVE the fact that she offers to make regular sized AND jumbo sized cupcakes! Since my hubs and I were heading up north a few days before our wedding, my friend picked up the cake and cupcakes from her the night before and dropped it off at my caterers. I was preparing myself for the cake to be not as moist as the day we did our tasting, but was floored at how delicious the cake tasted! We ordered a two-tier white cake with Bavarian cream and fresh strawberries and ordered jumbo salted caramel chocolate cupcakes. They turned out great and tasted even better! I found her by searching cakes in Saline and I'm so glad I did. I set up meetings with her via email (planned a Michigan wedding from NYC). She opens her house to her clients where you sit in her warm home and taste these delicious mini cakes (that are in no way tiny) that she makes just for you. She made the process so smooth and easy that I didn't even have to concern myself with anything at all. She was great with the design I had in mind for the cake decoration and pulled it off so beautifully, it was better than the photo I gave her from a Martha Stewart website. I'm still getting emails and calls about how wonderful her flavor combinations were. We love Gwen's cakes!! It's often very hard to find delicious cake if you have celiac disease or are gluten intolerant so we wanted to write a fantastic review for Gwen to hopefully help others start experiencing her delicious cakes! Gwen has a large selection of cake and filling flavors for all to enjoy (my husband is a gluten eater and he can't get enough of her cake regardless of flavor) but she also has some that can be made gluten free- my family can't tell the difference between gluten free and regular. She's made our bridal shower, wedding, birthday and anniversary cakes and is making cakes for our family members as well..everyone raves that she has the best cake around. If you are looking for a cake sculpture or some really difficult carved cake design, Gwen is not your woman but she is honest and will tell you this herself. If however you are looking for taste- she's it. And, as pricing is concerned, she is extremely reasonable. Was extremely impressed upon first meeting. However, once the wedding came closer Gwen had a hard time communicating. We were out a out of town wedding and had a lot to think about. The style of the cake was not at all as we hoped for. Sent pictures and was not even close. Did not see the cake until the reception and was disappointed with the cake. Gwen did a 2-tier cake and 100 cupcakes for our wedding. The white cake with buttercream and fresh strawberries was good and nicely done. The cupcakes (50 white and 50 chocolate) were pretty, but were very dry and not good. I ended up throwing away half of them the day after the wedding and I'm guessing many were only half-eaten the night of the wedding. Very disappointing. For my graduation party, Gwen made a two-tier cake, one layer white almond with raspberry filling, and the other red velvet with cream cheese frosting. In addition, we had two Costco cakes, one vanilla and one chocolate, but no one would touch them after tasting Gwen's cake. It was breathtakingly beautiful and also delicious--a rarity among cakes these days. Were the prices affordable? Yes. Was a tasting offered prior to the event? Yes. Was the cake itself worth the time and expense? Not at all. I was very surprised to bite into the cake on my wedding day and find that it had none of the moist delectable flavor that the tasting cake had exhibited. I ordered a two tier square white cake, filled with strawberries and cream, and two dozen cupcakes of the same flavor. While I cannot speak to the cupcakes (since I didn't bother to try them) the cake itself was a massive disappointment. The innards were dry, and the strawberries were very unevenly layered. One whole half of the cake was completely void of them, and the few strawberries I found on the other side were no where near the fresh quality that had been showcased at the tasting. I honestly wonder if she only used fresh strawberries on the tasting cake, with no intent to use them on the wedding cake. I'm not sure if the size of the cake was where the issue was for the overall taste and texture, as the tasting cake I had two weeks prior was lovely and delicious in every way. Maybe the baker is not skilled at larger cakes, or perhaps this was just one that didn't receive much attention. We actually wound out throwing the wedding cake out after the ceremony, since it just wasn't quality enough to bother with the ample leftovers. The woman in charge didn't appear to have very good customer service either. She'd accidently double booked my appointment originally and had me come at a different time. And when I called on the Friday before the wedding to confirm that everything would be ready, she appeared very bemused and flippant about my contacting her, as if it was strange for a bride to want to check up on the centerpiece of her wedding. I had Gwen do my graduation cake, and filled cupcakes. I figured she was the lady to do them because she had done my cousins wedding cake. First thing that went wrong was she mixed up our appointment date. My mom and I had driven an hour to her house and when we had gotten there, she told us to leave because our appointment was not that day. She was very rude but we still ordered from her. The day of my graduation party my parents went to pick up my cake and cupcakes, and they were very poorly done. The cupcakes were sloppy and frosting was everywhere. The filling was wrong in every single cupcake! Plus there was barely any filling in them! And my cake was so plain. There were only red flowers on it.. I asked for red, green, blue, and purple. I had to call my aunt and have her completely redo it before my party. I am never going to her again! Walmart would have done a lot better and for cheaper! read more

Gwen provided the cupcakes for our recent Ann Arbor wedding. We had both mini and regular sized cupcakes, which she set up on two tiered cake stands. All the standard cupcakes had a variety of DELICIOUS fillings, with a small decoration on the top that "hinted" at the inside flavor :) The combinations Gwen offered were vast and we had a hard time making decisions! My husband and I called Gwen and set up an appointment over the telephone for our whirl wind tour of wedding planning on a long weekend in January (planned a wedding from Colorado). We did a tasting and talked about what our expectations were for our wedding cake. My husband had high requirements for the way the cake tasted and Gwen's cake met his standards.
