I called Joel to inquire about drywall, framing, and installation of a door in our master bathroom. He came that same day to look and texted back with an estimate which was a fair price. Said he could start at 8am the next day and the job would take 3 days. He came back later that same day to drop off supplies and I introduce his helper Alex. Next morning, Alex was there at 8am and worked hard all day til 5pm. Following day and the next, both Joel and Alex worked together to finish. They protected my house extremely well, created zero mess and cleaned up after finishing the job. They were both very personable and great communicators. They did drywall, framing, installed door and trim, baseboards, and textured the walls to perfection. I have never had a contractor provide such prompt response, do exactly what they said they'd do in the amount of time stated, for such a fair price. I can't say enough good things about Joel Guzman, and his right-hand man, Alex. Having hired painters, drywall guys, plumbers, electricians, gardeners, gutter hangers, window companies, etc over the years, I dread hiring anyone for blue collar work. It never fails, you hire someone that talks a good game, but it turns out their unprofessional, disorganized, lazy, dishonest, don't take pride in their work, put their own self-interests ahead of the client, will take advantage of you if they can, et al. Joel is the antithesis of that description. I'd hired a window company, Graceland Windows, to install new windows at my house last year. They did a poor job, damaged the windows, did garbage trim & drywall work, and left me holding the bag on windows that were an eye soar. So, I called Joel last Friday to see about having the trim removed & the drywall repaired. We set an appointment for him to come by at 8:30 AM on Monday to look at my project and give me a quote. He arrived on time, and was really professional, even stopping to offer advice & critiques of what I had in mind. Within 30 minutes, he had the entire project quoted out. The price was excellent, so I hired him on the spot. Surprisingly, he offered to start that day, and within an hour and a half, after getting materials, he & Alex were hard at work. The first thing that impressed me about Joel was his dedication to protecting my windows & furniture. He went well beyond what other drywall guys & painters have done, even sealing off the section of the room he was working in, so dust didn't get all over the house. As he worked to remove the trim & repair the shoddy drywall, he routinely would point out issues he discovered, then walk me through the pros & cons of our options for resolving them. At several points, we changed direction from what we'd initially laid out during the quote. But, Joel was always flexible, and put a premium on getting the details right, not just getting them done. They just finished this morning (Wed), and I have to say, I'm pretty darn impressed. Not only was the work done quicker than expected, but you can tell Joel & Alex truly invest themselves in getting every detail spot on perfect. They even fixed several issues caused by Graceland Windows that weren't in the purview of the project. I have zero complaints & zero nitpicks. I don't know that I've ever hired someone for a job, and walked away feeling like every aspect, from the communication, to the professionalism, to the attention to details, to the pricing, to the timing was perfection.
