Located on the service road near the corner of Nepean Hwy and Balcombe Rd, this is quite a rare find indeed.
ATMOSPHERE
Do not be put off! Embrace it! The most endearing thing about this place is the Time Warp. I felt like Dr Who stepping back into the 70's. Dim lights, brown linoleum tables and old community hall chairs add to the character and most certainly remind me of the stone grill bars I visited in Istanbul earlier this year. Packed to the rafters on all three occasions I have eaten ( two take away and one dine in). A real find amongst the locals families
SERVICE
The restaurant is family run. The family certain,y handle the busy periods very well indeed and make you feel by welcome indeed. Even during busy periods they welcome takeaway orders with enthusiasm. You can feel the pride behind the cooking and they want you to feel well fed and happy when you leave
FOOD AND DRINKS
Where do I start? All the mains are served with rice , salad and Turkish bread so keep that in mind when ordering.
Kadinbudu Kofte is our favourite entree but you can order any 3 for $13. The Kiymal Pide is very filling indeed ( meat filled Turkish pizza) . For mains you can't go past the mixed grill ( a little bit of everything) but you must back it up with the most amazing succulent marinated Chicken Cutlets ( salivating now at the thought of them) The only downside was the Baclava, it was too hard with a toffee like rather than moist bite to it.
ROUND UP
Very very vey good value indeed. Starters $4, mains $13-$17. You can indulge in a 21 dish take away banquets for $29 per person ( min 2) . Despite the low cost, the food quality is excellent so don't be fooled by the old shabby decor. I highly recommend read more
