The whole place has recently been reonvated

Back at Main Street with friends is like a comfy armchair. Great atmosphere, friendly and excellent staff and of course the wonderful Two Brothers boutique beers. The menu is always fresh and seasonal. I can recommend the DIY sliders for a tasty beer snack. Slow cooked Cajon spiced checked on brioche, quacamole, salsa, Chipotle aioli yum. You will really enjoy The place and be sure to ask for Katie as your server.

Yummy breakfast!

Favourite local cafe to catch up with friends. Great to catch up for coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Off a great variety on their menu that they change seasonly. Kids menu available. Great service with friendly staff. Full table service. Lots of variety of beverages; hot, cold, alcoholic. Great location. Always busy! Don't split the bill when busy.

Driven past here at least 100 times and found it always to be busy. Decided to try it out for brekky one Monday as I was meeting my friend from work who had just finished night shift. Was really impressed with the friendly staff and great menu. The cafe soon became very busy and you could tell its a place for all the locals. I loved my eggs and my friends meal looked amazing too. Coffee was great. Overall really pleased. Will def be back here or at one of the sister cafe's

The main salad with calamari

Came here for a birthday celebration with a group of four of us on a Saturday night. The service was not the best throughout the night. Meals came out scattered - my dessert was served, then everyone else on the table got theirs 10 minutes after I had finished. Drinks being forgotten about (especially mine). The food itself was pretty good. We all had the garlic bread to start off with. It just melted in your mouth. I had the main salad with calamari which was nice & fresh. Everyone else on the table had the lamb shank which came with mashed potato & a few carrots looked very boring & glad I didn't order that. For dessert I had the New York Cheesecake- I just wish that every restaurant would only called it a NY cheesecake if it is actually one, and not brand a plain cheesecake a New York version. The rest of the desserts on the menu were over priced and not very flavourful.

Hungry Hippo

Quite s busy cafe, was here for a late brunch. Coffee is good and the Hungry Hippo... was a solid feed! A lot better than most Big Breakfasts served around town. Scrambled eggs were nice and fluffy. The bacon could've been a bit more crisp however. Also had the Stockland burger. Found it a bit dry. Patty passable. The bun I would not classify as brioche. The bacon needed to be more crisp. It could be a great burger if there was some sauce with it. Perhaps their own version of an aioli herb wasabi mix?? Could do wonders. otherwise improve in the patty. Make it medium rare. As is .. it's not up to scratch with rivals.

Breakfast !!!!

Main Street! What a find, if you are down Mordialloc way then you must try out Main St. Mordialloc is an up and coming area with lots of trendy new shops and cafes popping up all over the place, but beginning that trend and still holding the title is Main st. The decor is trendy and comfortable and the menu regularly updated (I'm a massive fan of the sliders). The staff are friendly and aim to provide fantastic service to all customers. It is often really busy, so if you are going with a group book ahead otherwise be prepared for a wait or disappointed if they are booked out. Make sure you give it s try you won't be disappointed!

Smashed avo with fetta and eggs. Was nice but nothing more.

The Diplomat - Loving this decor

Breakfast, we are told, is the most important meal of the day, but unfortunately very few…read morerestaurants get it right. The Diplomat Cafe in Highett I'm pleased to announce is one of the few. This cafe is centrally located on the main strip across the road from the Highett train station. The cafe itself is really well designed with a small show kitchen pumping out meals to a rather large minimalistic dining room. It really has a great vibe. The first thing that I was impressed with was the staff. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly, and escorted to my table, offered water and a coffee to start with. This in itself seems to be a lost art in today's restaurant scene. I ordered a jasmine pearl tea to start, which, when arrived was presented on a wooden board, with a cup, an iron teapot and a box with three sandglass minute timers. The first one set at one minute, the second at three mins and the third at five minutes. Each timer representing the strength of the tea. A pretty cool concept. The menu looked awesome, but all I really wanted was poached eggs, bacon and mushrooms. So that's what I ordered. Now it's generally at this stage when I ask the waiter if I could have my bacon crispy, but in all honestly I forgot, so I was a bit concerned. My breakfast arrived in a reasonable timeframe, and my first impression was, that it looked pretty good. It wasn't good, not at all, it was awesome. Let's start with the eggs. Perfectly poached, soft and gooey yolks, and perfectly poached whites. As much as the eggs impressed me it was the bacon that wowed me. Crispy but still juicy and full of flavour, just the way I like it. I have to say this was one of the best bacon and eggs I've ever had. The food that was coming out of that kitchen was amazing. So if you find yourself down Highett way check out The Diplomat, it truly was amazing.

Of course, it's all about the bagels so we had a quick look at the menu and ordered. You choose your bagel first: - plain, sesame, poppy - garlic, salt & rosemary - onion & poppy - lot (sesame, caraway, onion, garlic, salt) - rye - wholemeal (with oats or seeds) - pizza - blueberry - choc-chip - cinnamon & raisin Then you decide if you want it toasted, and then what toppings. As well as the standard cream cheese offerings, they also have a whopping choice of toppings, from tuna melt, to breakfast, to salmon, and chicken schnitzel. We both ordered the chicken schnitzel (with cheese, red pesto, rocket & mayo for $10) and I got mine on a lot bagel and toasted. They're freshly made right at the counter and the staff have a super chilled but professional vibe - they were so precise about putting the toppings together, I was very impressed. We only had to wait about 5 minutes and then I was in bagel heaven - not only was the bagel amazing but the schnitzel was perfect and I loved the combination of flavours. For me there was a little too much red pesto but that was easily sorted out with a knife. I loved this place and am hoping to return for a second bagel-scoffing lunch before I head back to Glasgow.

Oh my! How pleased was I to find this little gem not too far from home?…read moreCafe on Warren has a great breakfast & Lunch menu and a lovely ambience. Not too loud and a wonderful modern interior with helpful staff. I've had a bit of a sweet tooth lately so I ordered the brioche toast with caramalised bananas, topped with maple syrup and came with a side of ice cream. This was delicious! The only downside was the coffee but I have to admit I've been very spoilt lately with the likes of St Ali, Dukes & Seven Seeds. All in all, I will be back. I'm so happy I've found cafe on Warren in Parkdale.

The restaurant was quite with only a few tables on both visits. And it left me with the feeling that veryone seemed to be more interested in having a chat than serving. COW as it is more affectionately known is very child friendly with activity sets to purchase and a children's menu that has a cow on it for the little ones to colour in while waiting for their meals. I must admit I wasn't blown away by the service and the given how quite it was I'm assuming that everyone has moved around the corner to new cafe that has recently opened up. It does have a friendly feel about it, but I wouldn't rush out to try it.

Another success for the Bayside area!…read more The Parlor is a gorgeous cafe located on Weatherall Road that opened at the end of 2011. Since then, I feel this cafe has gone from strength to strength. This local delight is now open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings (hopefully with more nights to come). Considering The Parlor is almost isolated in a largely residential area, you may be surprised to see how busy it is - especially on weekend mornings! But how can you blame the Bayside population? The Parlor is simply a pleasure to visit. The menu is varied, offering something for everyone and being updated often. I've found the meal sizes to be generous, especially when ordering brunch. The french toast was of a gigantic size. The little touches are cute, such as milkshakes coming in adorable milk bottles. Flowers on the table, friendly staff... you can see why this place is thriving in Beaumaris. The front deck is perfect for catching some rays of sunshine, with the view of the golf course. If the weather is less than ideal, don't forget there's also a back room. The large communal table in front of the kitchen helps to give the Parlor a lovely and warm homely feel. My favourite spot would be the quaint table for two inside, overlooking the deck. Just remember for busy times, you can call up ahead and reserve a spot! The Parlor Milkbar and Kitchen is truly a hidden gem, that has impressed since it's opening.
