Although this beautiful restaurant can get very busy (due to popularity and incredibly delicious food), the quality of each and every meal and the cute environment is what makes this place so special to me. As Japan Inn is very busy and so popular, I highly recommend booking well in advance in order to eliminate waiting time to be seated. I also recommend that people arrive at Japan Inn at least 10 minutes before their booking. I highly recommend ordering the Banquette as it provides a range of different taste sensations, textures, aromatics and a delicious food experience in general. I guess it's typical food court syndrome - if there are limited options, why not offer as many of them as one can? i.e. not just sushi (Japanese) but pan-Asian and icecream. Sure, why not. And if there are limited options, there's limited competition, so little need to step up one's game. Sure, why not. Probably saves money, anyway, and we all know that's what business is all about. But seriously - the amount of plastic waste they provide is alarming. I remember years ago they would always serve rolls in paper bags, however now it's all single use plastic and they look at me funny when I ask for paper (it does still exist). I see families order over 10 rolls (all placed in plastic containers of course) and they sit in and eat. Surely you could provide plates for customers eating in? All the plastic get's thrown away in minutes, and fills the centres bins. I don't know anyone that doesn't eat their sushi immediately after purchase, so everything is thrown out without being recycled (which I doubt it could be anyways) Australia is so far behind other countries in tackling, advocating and making changes to reduce single use items, and offsetting the impact on the environment. It's sad. We're the worst polluters/consumers in the world, the only saving grace is there isn't as many of us. In San Francisco, single use items are a thing of the past, now everything is served in cardboard, or people bring their own containers to reduce even more. Please take responsibly for the waste and damage you're causing to the environment.
