Easy and fast smog service. Will was very helpful. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes.

Guys Smog is a well operated shop. Guy is a true professional. I recommend this shop hands down!

Great place to go. Battery was dead the day before and he was afraid it may not pass. He hooked up his tester to see and he thought it would pass after all and did the smog. No issues. Was very helpful and quick. Would definitely recommend. Great price. read more

Absolutely a 5 star! In at 8 a.m. Out at 8:10. Friendly, courteous service. This place is highly recommended for your smog check!

Tereible service. I was never greeted when I arrived. Told the technician, who appeared to be on a personal call, that I needed a smog check. He conducted the entire inspection and transaction while on the phone call loudly arguing with someone. Did not even put the phone down while processing the payment for the service. I think he said maybe 2 or 3 words to me the entire time I was in the shop. read more

I've taken all my smogs there for about 6 or 7 years now. They have always shot straight with me and told me as early as they could if they were aware something something was an issue before that needed to be addressed. Many shops know full-well that I'll fail but take my money then tell me afterward, which is BS. I have sent family and friends there for smog and repairs. They are not just parts changers, they'll evaluate the problem first. Recently, I sent my ex wife there (I know, we're cool). She had a pipe broken by her muffler. Other shops quoted her to replace the exhaust from the head to the tailpipe for $3,200, more than the pos was worth. These guys advised us to get the pipe welded and they were stoked and fixed for under $1k. read more

Will, at Guy's Smog, has done a good job for us these last two years. He smogs all our vehicles, which seem to be legion. He's efficient and fairly priced. Just drive in; no appointment necessary. read more

I received efficient and friendly smog certification service from William for my routine smog renewal. The test was performed quickly, and met the STAR certification requirements. The owner is highly experienced, and knowledgeable about applicable next steps. The shop provides excellent value, and it is an honor to support our local business! read more

Great service, Guy and Will have helped me out with lots of different projects for the last several years, including repairs, getting a car we bought with a check engine light fixed, welding up a broken bracket that another shop wanted to sell us a $3,000 exhaust system for, along with $800 labor to install, which was way more than the car was worth. Will and Guy were able to disassemble the parts in the way, weld the broken pipe closed, and the car was quiet as new and ran perfectly afterward. We recommend. read more

The best place for smog, family ownership. Always honest and fair going there for many years. Highly recommended read more

Went in for a DMV required smog test before work and was in and out in no time! Convenient location and fair pricing made the only thing incredibly painless! There's also a well behaved dog behind the counter which is always a plus! read more

Walked in for a quick smog check, no appointment needed. The staff cleared my car within 15 minutes, this shop had a coupon on their website for a smog check. Dont forget to check out for any coupons! read more

From the moment I walk in the first I had an amazing experience with this shop. I always do my smog here. The customer service is outstanding. They took the time to listen to my concerns, and provide expert advice on the necessary repairs. I drive a Toyota car and a month ago had my engine light come out, so I went to Toyota to have it diagnose and the estimate ended up being like $8000. When I went to see Guys smog to get a second opinion after they diagnose my engine light they told me that the only think I need it was a new fuel tank cap and that should fix the engine light and it did. I highly recommend this place. read more

All went swimmingly well, good service, 20 minutes. I wish the nice gentlemen behind the counter had let me know I only need regular Smog. Could safe me $10 from $68.00 read more

New to Martinez and based upon my Yelp Community Reviews I was inclined to support Local Business. They have a coupon advertised on Yelp for $31.75 plus an $8.25 certificate fee for most 2000 or newer vehicles. They have a few ancillary charges if your vehicle is 1995 or older vehicles are $20.00 extra. Trucks, Vans, and SUV's are an additional $10.00. 1996 to 1999 vehicles an extra $10.00 and if Diesel and Out of State an additional $10.00 They had 1 older Toyota Truck in front of me that took extra time to complete which justifies the extra charges. I'm sure some other vehicles by design could have additional charges not listed depending on how labor intensive it can be. My 2020 Prius was very simple and I was out fast. Unfortunately, I just moved from Illinois and got the extra $10.00 charge bringing my total to $50.00 It's a fair charge. I know dealerships charge substantially more. The tech was their usual mechanic persona. Guess, some people could be taken back by it but you don't pay them to be personable. read more

Had to Smog my car last week and it reminded about going here 2 yrs ago. Live in Richmond, work in Martinez. Mistakenly sent in my check to pay registration before smogging the car so to make sure no issues that DMV didn't reject me rushed to this location closest to my work location to make sure smog pass was in place first. Honestly i feel dude was trying to fail me. Honda accord that has had catalytic converter stolen (Bay Area surprised?), i had replaced with CA compliant unit and nobody but nobody has ever questioned it. This placed lifted my car up, told me he had to check part #'s etc.... 45+ mins later very reluctantly (IMO) passed me. Overall place gave me a locals and 'good' fellas vibe only. I will not be returning here read more

I took my Type B RV in for a Smog check and got service right away without any problems! Good job!

I've been here at least 3 times, different cars, only once with an appointment. The fee is less than other places I went to years ago and no coupon needed. Fast, friendly service. I highly recommend. read more

I arrived shortly before they opened, hoping to get my smog check done before heading to work. I was helped immediately and the check only took about 10 minutes before I was back on the road. Convenient location downtown and good customer service. I would definitely recommend this shop and will come back in two years when it's time again. read more

Had to join yelp just to review this place. The guy there was INCREDIBLY rude. Like seriously. Was the closest place so I thought it would be fine and I like supporting small business but oh well. Should've trusted my gut when I walked in and walked away! Do not bring your car here! read more

Quick in, quick out. $40. No hassle and done, as it should be. They had Covid protocols in place. My go to local smog place. read more

I went to Guys Smog when my old Chevy wasn't passing. They were very straightforward and professional about what they could do for me. Prices were reasonable and they fixed my truck in a timely manner. read more

I've been here twice now, and each time they've been super helpful with getting each of my cars smogged. Oddly enough, each of my Subarus had little idiosyncrasies that caused the wait to be a little longer than 15 minutes, but not by much. This father and son team are great and I'll be back here when needed. Don't forget to mention the online coupon to get a lower price! read more

They got me I. Right away, 10 minutes to smog great price! Highly recommend using them for smog services

These guys are honest, fast, and affordable. We smogged two cars close to closing time and he managed to squeeze us in. I will definitely come back. read more

They took me right in and did the smog test. I'm satisfied the vehicle passed. This was my first visit and will return in the future with my other car read more

I have been here several times over the years. The son is awesome. The father is a nightmare. He has been condescending, demeaning, and downright abusive to me on multiple visits. He yells at me and rolls his eyes and tells me," [I] just don't understand." I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have been supporting local business first and foremost well before it was considered the popular thing to do. Guy's Smog has always been a great resource and he has provided a great service. He is friendly, focused and very helpful. I've never had to wait for more than 30 minutes to get in and out. He once informed me that I had a gas cap issue and that the next time I had to smog my truck it should be replaced. He is proactive in making things work, he will help when he can make a difference and I appreciate his service over the many years he as taken care of me and my vehicles. I can't think of any reason I would not want to have him work on my vehicles and I would highly recommend him to anyone that is in need of help in getting their vehicle smog taken care of. read more

This place is a rip off. Took my 1987 4Runner over there and before it's even written up the one guy insinuates it's not gonna pass. 20 minutes later I'm told it failed. They said the timing was off by 25...!!! And that it could be the TPS. Also failed due to high NOX. Told it could be the EGR or CAT. Asked me if I plan to do the work myself? Not. Took it to my brother-in-law over at Toyota Marin. Valve adjustment and reset timing which was retarded by 3. 25....??? Waste of time and $80. Never again. There are more reputable smog facilities in Martinez. read more

Guy and William are very nice and efficient. Got my smog in and out within 20 minutes. Always a pleasure supporting a small family business in Martinez. Thanks again! read more

Came here at 8am on a weekday with no appointment and they had my car done in 10 min! Great location in downtown mtz. All you need to do is mention their online coupon and they will give you that price! My 2007 Honda civic was $40 out the door with certificate! Best price around!!!! The guy who helped me was very sweet and helpful. Knocking a star because when i came back to get my car he left it on their corner with the windows rolled down! Not very smart since there is a bunch of crazy tweakers in martinez. I definitely did not leave it that way.... read more

This place F#$%ing!!!!! sucks I went in to get a smog and the guy couldnt answer any questions that I had for him. They also want to charge to put air in the tires. I went to another smog check station and got better service and my questions answered. Just avoid this place read more

I bought a used car off Craigslist in Martinez, and the seller recommended this place. I assumed it would pass, so I didn't care where I went, so I took his advice since this was the closest place to go. Bad idea. Before the car was even tested, the owner (I guess), who is the father of at least one of the other workers, gave me incorrect information saying that the seller by law has to smog it before selling, and how if it doesn't pass that's bad news for me. Really? I had no idea (sarcasm). This was inappropriate to begin with. It's none of his business. Then he proceeded to ask how much I paid for the car and told me he thinks I paid too much. Thanks! He also showed me something under the hood which he called suspicious and said how someone was trying to bypass something and this or that. So, it ended up not passing, but they didn't tell me anything about why. I called them later after freaking out on the seller, who sold it as a business so was NOT obligated by law to smog it, and they said they charge $90 to diagnose a problem, and that they do not subtract that charge from the cost of the repair if the repair is done there, which in my experience most shops usually do! I ended up getting a simple $40 welding job done at a muffler shop to fix a leak in the exhaust pipe. Then, I called this place back to ask if they offer a free retest, and they said no. Retests are half price. So, I went somewhere else closer to the muffler shop in Pittsburg I was at, and luckily it passed. Needless to say, I would not recommend this place, especially to women. There are much better and cheaper places you can go instead of this place. I most definitely will never return there again. read more

Really liked this place. Took a truck we recently purchased for smog and it was in and out fast. The staff/owner(s) were nice and professional. Plan to take any vehicles that need a Smog cert here in the future. Prices are competitive and fair. I used to use coupons and such and frequently travelled town to nearby town(s), but after adding up travel time, gas prices, the wait time, the "hidden" fee's imposed at drop off, etc. etc., I finally did the math & figured it all added up to basically the same end-cost(s), if I just went "local" to nearby in-town place! And this place is it! I would recommend to family and friends with confidence. read more
