A minor annoyance but understandable since it was two days after our area had major flooding. I contacted Andrew on a Thursday evening and was offered a slot the next day. I decided on a slot for noon the following day, Saturday. Marty and Alex showed up with one truck for my job. They were professional and pleasant and did the job well. I had to get rid of a basement-ful of junk that was damaged by sewage tainted flood water. All the stuff was already outdoors. The junk was about 1.5 truckloads. Marty and Alex had to go to the dump and returned to finish the job. It took them about 3.5 hours beginning to end. Now when I initially contacted Andrew the quote was $179-$259. Compared to other quotes I received, this was the lowest by far. I read about the up selling in some other reviews so I tried to lock in the $259. Andrew assured me that there would be no surprises. Turns out up to $259 is only for a fraction of a truckload. My stuff ended up being 1.5 truckloads and I agreed to pay $850. Other junkers quoted me $2k-$3k. Should they be more upfront with the pricing? Yes. But considering the amount of junk I had and the quality of Marty and Alex's work, I still think I paid a very fair price. I hope I never have to get rid of sewage soaked junk again, but if I do, I know who to call. read more

The reason for my poor review of Gutter Your Clutter is due to the lack of transparency and integrity of the owners of this business. They did not deliver on all that they promised, over charged me, and jeopardized my relationship with a client. I want to note that the employees who collected trash were great. They did an excellent job and were very friendly. We contacted Gutter Your Clutter many weeks in advance of our client's event and explained what was required. There was to be 2 separate pickups during the same day and being on time for these pickups was critical to the event's success. We approximated there would be 100 large bags of trash to cart away. We were quoted rates for 1/4 and 1/2 truck loads. These carting experts said 100 bags would fill up no more than 1/2 a truck. We agreed to the rates provided. On the day of the event, we did our due diligence and called Gutter Your Clutter 3 hours before the 1st scheduled pickup to make sure we were on their calendar and that they were on track to be on time. We were told yes. It turns out that they would arrive 1 & 1/2 hours late for the 1st pickup. This was not ok, and it didn't go over well with our client. After the event ended and the 2nd pickup was completed, our credit card was charged for more than 2 times the amount quoted for the maximum 1/2 truck load that was quoted. We took this issue up with the owners of the company (who were the ones to give us the original quote) and they were less than helpful. When mentioning the fact that they were late and that they did not honor their prices, we got responses such as "What do you want, it's NYC traffic. You're lucky we didn't arrive later." and; "You can complain to Yelp if you want, they won't do anything. This was only an estimate". This suggests to me that they know what they are doing and have probably done this to countless others before. It's the ole Bait & Switch. After numerous emails (which went unanswered) and calls (where our phone number was blocked, and we had to call from a different number to get them to pick up) our requests for a refund of half of our money never got honored. As a business owner myself I was looking to build a relationship with this company to drive business their way. However, after my personal experience with them I would not use them again nor align myself with them. read more

I've never needed a junk removal service before so I did a lot of research between various companies around Queens, NY and Gutter Your Clutter came out on top. The booking and the actual process of removal was even more proof of professionalism. Andrew responded very quickly regarding my inquiries in the afternoon and helped take away my junk same day. I had an 8pm appointment but asked if there was any way they could come earlier. I received a call notifying me that 7pm was do-able which was great. An efficient crew of 3 came through, very quickly examined the job and gave me a quote which matched what was expected from prior discussions. They took furniture from the second floor, main floor and garage. I even had to leave early to pick up my wife from work so once all the furniture and other junk was outside I paid via credit card and they told me they would take care of the rest. The workers would just throw things down the stair case not caring about spilling mess or potential damaging the wall. I was late already for my next work appointment but cleaning the mess they made me late even more. So I would call the work unprofessional. After the work was completed the quote from the email was vastly different from what the workers quoted me. Be careful: we had a written quote (the quote actually included the statement: "we will get it done for this price, no hidden fees") based on detailed photos and a clear understanding that we did not have an elevator. The crew showed up and before walking in the door they said they needed cash in an amount more than 2x the quoted price to even start!
