I would give them 6 stars if I could. I was in a tough situation at my dad's place after he passed away. When I went into his apartment in downtown BK after two months, I discovered the refrigerator had died in the meantime and everything in it was warm and degraded (and of course, stunk). Think: fruit flies EVERYWHERE. We called the removal service, and they showed up during the expected window. The two professionals working on the issue realized very soon that the fridge couldn't fit through the kitchen door without the fridge doors coming off. They took a tarp, closed off the kitchen doorway so I wouldn't have to smell the fridge's rotting contents, cleaned it out, took off the fridge doors and rolled the fridge out of the kitchen. They then put the doors back on so the sight of the inside of the fridge wouldn't annoy the neighbors! Everything they did was the embodiment of professional: no complaining, no "ugh, this stinks." Even when they were sticking the duct tape on the side of the kitchen entrance, they taped down the ends so it wouldn't damage the walls. They cleaned up after themselves constantly, mindful of the floors, and didn't try jamming me on the price even though it was a harder job than expected (I asked if it would cost more because of the unforeseen issue, and the foreman shook his head and said, "the price is the price"). I finally took down a temporary room divider and assumed I could throw out the leftover construction pieces with the regular trash last night but was informed I could not and had to scramble to find a removal service. TLDR: Use Junkluggers - they are professional, arrive when they are supposed to and are upfront about pricing. They missed the original window and then the rescheduled window. I tried to be understanding the first time but pretty irritated when they missed the 2nd window. I was charged an extra day in the apartment because I couldn't turn in my keys because they did not arrive when they were supposed to. And so I had to come back later in the day, which totally screwed me. And then when it came to pay the agreed upon $200, the owner says that I have to pay the additional tax, which he never mentioned before. I said something about all the back and forth and how they were late and I had to come back His response was, "It's government tax, I don't know what to tell you." Would have been great to know that in one of the many texts that you were going to charge more if using a credit card. Sounds like he prefers cash so as not to pay tax on it, but again, never mentioned. Whatever. I just wanted to get this over with. The guys who did the actual work were great. Literally the best! I called on Saturday morning at 9:15AM and they had my couch out before noon. The guys were all super polite and courteous from Joe on the phone to the movers. As a single female it can always make me a little nervous to let men into my apartment that I don't know but they all made me feel very comfortable from the second we spoke or met and I really appreciate that! The couch had to way 6,000 lbs easily and there was only smiles and happy to help. Pricing was also super reasonable. You can use them but they will try to increase the price on you. I called..joe told me 10 bucks a bag (of dirt) for removal..I had 35 bags which is $350. After a lot of ham acting by one of the guys where he strained and huffed and stopped for frequent breaks while clutching his back..the guy told me it would be 50 extra bucks and called joe for permission to charge. I guess he said yes and then I was told that $400 would be the new price. I called joe who recinded and I ended up paying the agreed upon price. If I hadn't called Joe would have happily taken the extra. They did an ok job...4 hours late..but ok. Would have gotten a better review if it wasn't for the ridiculous over acting.
