I contacted the business because they have good reviews, unfortunately, good yelp reviews aren't always reliable. Made the appointment with the owner, Andrew, confirmed everything with him. On the day of the appointment, waited for 30min and the driver was no where to be found. Called and tried to figure out why they were late, the guy on the phone sounded like he just woke up and said he'd need at least another 30-45 min to get to the work site. I canceled the appointment and messaged Andrew about it, however, no response, no explanation, no apology ... basically, no communication and no customer service at all. I wanted to leave a 5 star review for this business but unfortunately I can't. Firstly, this isn't a reflection of the actual work done. The 3 man crew removed the items as needed. However, there were two missteps. The crew was an hour late so if you're tight on time, that may be a factor. I wasn't notified about their new ETA so in effect, I was just waiting till they arrived. I was flexible so it was not as bothersome...but noted. My biggest issue though is that upon arriving at my bldg, the lead guy IMMEDIATELY tells me ("oh, you're in a walkup bldg and we were not informed. Any floors above 2 will be extra"). Have to underscore what he told me was my biggest concern come to life. Having read dozens of reviews on this board & Google about up-charging from haulers, I was hyper vigilant about not being bamboozled. To then be up against that very issue within minutes was infuriating. Tried my best to keep my cool but the crew lead was insistent that he needed to "see the volume of stuff first" before making a final determination. What???!! Let me point out, I went through the proper channels on Yelp and that I DID relay in advance that I lived in a 4th fl walkup. I showed him my message chain on Yelp with his supervisor. I didn't have a number to call his base and he didn't seem motivated to call his boss to clear up matters. To be later told my price would change allegedly due to their miscommunication was badly done. I also told the crew lead the quote his company provided me was in line with multiple other estimates I received and that I would have gone with another company if they were going to come in higher than their competitors. I informed him we shouldn't proceed then if more $$ was going to be required on the spot. Ultimately...and reluctantly, he decided to move forward with the original quoted price but imagine my discomfort level being a woman alone in my apt surrounded by three strangers w/ one having indicated I wasn't charged properly. I didn't like the implication that I was underpaying. He was not threatening but just want to say, I felt vulnerable. It didn't make for a promising start. Unfortunately 3 months after service I haven't received a reimbursement for a discount they promised at booking. Tried to follow up privately over Yelp messages and email but after multiple follow ups, they still haven't provided reimbursement. Feel obligated to share my experience so people can make an informed decision, since who knows how many of the other reviewers ended up getting the run around too? Full story: They had a 20% off coupon on their Yelp page. I asked if I could use the discount at booking and they said yes, bring it up on the day of service. I brought it up in person and they hesitated, said I need to leave a review first to get the discount (reimbursement). Gave them the benefit of the doubt and followed instructions, leaving my honest review. At this point it felt sketchy already but wanted to see if they'd follow through. They instructed me to email my Zelle info after which I followed up multiple times politely. Two months after service they reply with more details, stipulating the 20% was for a full truckload and I could get $80 credit or a $20 reimbursement (5%). I chose the $20 reimbursement. Pros: Very Responsive Reasonably priced (even with the up selling) Professional Got the job done Cons: They up sell, so be prepared to pay more than the initial quote They were two hours late. A minor annoyance but understandable since it was two days after our area had major flooding. I contacted Andrew on a Thursday evening and was offered a slot the next day. I decided on a slot for noon the following day, Saturday. Marty and Alex showed up with one truck for my job. They were professional and pleasant and did the job well. I had to get rid of a basement-ful of junk that was damaged by sewage tainted flood water. All the stuff was already outdoors. The junk was about 1.5 truckloads. Marty and Alex had to go to the dump and returned to finish the job. It took them about 3.5 hours beginning to end. Now when I initially contacted Andrew the quote was $179-$259. Compared to other quotes I received, this was the lowest by far. I read about the up selling in some other reviews so I tried to lock in the $259. Andrew assured me that there would be no surprises. Turns out up to $259 is only for a fraction of a truckload. My stuff ended up being 1.5 truckloads and I agreed to pay $850. Other junkers quoted me $2k-$3k. Should they be more upfront with the pricing? Yes. But considering the amount of junk I had and the quality of Marty and Alex's work, I still think I paid a very fair price. I've never needed a junk removal service before so I did a lot of research between various companies around Queens, NY and Gutter Your Clutter came out on top. The booking and the actual process of removal was even more proof of professionalism. Andrew responded very quickly regarding my inquiries in the afternoon and helped take away my junk same day. I had an 8pm appointment but asked if there was any way they could come earlier. I received a call notifying me that 7pm was do-able which was great. An efficient crew of 3 came through, very quickly examined the job and gave me a quote which matched what was expected from prior discussions. They took furniture from the second floor, main floor and garage. I even had to leave early to pick up my wife from work so once all the furniture and other junk was outside I paid via credit card and they told me they would take care of the rest.
