Employees that eventually came to my house were great. My issue is with their scheduler. On more than one service call, had to leave several messages to get a call back. On more than one occasion had to wait months for service even though I prepaid. When the weather got better even though prepaid I was not in a queue for the service. I had to call and remind them, then wait months. This person was brusque, impatient and had a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. If they are that busy they need more employees in the field or a better scheduler. read more

I have hundreds of feet of aluminum gutters covered by Gutter Helmet. I just had a tree damage some gutter and called them to repair the damage. They told me they are only doing "warranty repair". What kind of company will not repair their product even if one is willing to pay for it? Certainly not one that I would recommend under any circumstances. read more

Absolutely atrocious customer service. You can't leave a message (per the operators) & the service department isn't available half the time anyways. It's like a game to get ahold of someone. So here is our experience: We were told that if we paid $150 and had an inspection that the warranty would be transferred to us from the previous owners of our home. We did this. There was some work that was deemed necessary. We didn't question it at all as where the work needed to be done we knew a tree fell on the house so it all made sense. We were quoted $500 to have the work done and an appointment was made. No one ever showed up. I called and emailed to see what happened and we were told they called (I never had a message). Then we are told that because this is a sales call not a service call we need to pay $750 not $500 as originally quoted JUST BECAUSE that is the minimum for a sales call. I want to pause right here and say either you have a lot of uneducated customers who just pay blindly or you think I'm an idiot. Sure. What the heck?! Why not pay $250 more for the same exact work that we were quoted (and should have been done at this point) JUST BECAUSE two managers decided to reclassify our job? So no, we will not be customers of yours......No thanks. We had the damaged gutter replaced by Leaf Filter. Outrageous customer service and a giant waste of my time. You all really need to get your business organized so you know what you're doing and how to handle warranty work. read more

Super frustrating experience! They do not get on a ladder and measure. Gutter does not fit against our home. Now water is leaking down my house, never had this issue before. They will not take any responsibility for not measuring and installing properly. They also returned to my property without telling me and left me a note to install a diverter,costing me more money after spending $5000! If you have a custom home definitely do not use this company! I am writing this review for "Huff 'n Puff" which appears to be one of the businesses associated with Anderson windows and gutter guards herein (?) I needed to replace the full glass storm insert on my Anderson front door. I recently purchased the home and the previous owner did not leave this item behind, only the screen door insert. Luckily (or NOT!) they left files from old service providers and the original invoices for the door were included. Without making this long winded - Huff 'n Puff is frankly the worst home service company I have ever dealt with. From every repeat phone call, to the lack of transparency, the outrageous pricing and the lack of communication from the very first day. It took 3 months of constant calls to make sure they were on top of my order. (THREE MONTHS to get a storm door and it's the middle of winter!) The final straw was learning that THEY had to install the piece or the original warranty would be void just blindsided me (that was an additional cost I could not bypass - even though the doors are made so we as homeowners can switch the glass to screen according to the seasons!) Buyer beware - save yourself the headache and hassle and stay away from Huff ' Puff for any of your homeowner replacement/installation needs. read more

We have had such bad service from this company, We ordered $10,000 worth of windows (just 8 Windows). The Sales person puts high pressure that the price is no longer valid after he leaves. We order, the installer installed the windows and the were not the correct color, and they did not wrap molding like they said they would. The color does not match the rest of our house . What followed was 3 months of them saying the would fix it and never did. the Sales person no longer worked at the company and he was the one that wrote the wrong code down for the color. All I did was Pay $10,000 and I ended up with Windows that do not match the rest of the house and the window frames not wrapped in aluminum. In the contact that says you cannot take them to court, and you must use Arbitration. We will do that now. But I would never sign anything with these people. Just look at what they ask you to sign. All Codes, and fine print. Plus they are not Anderson. We will contact the manufacturer next to complain. read more

If I had been able to rate with no stars, That is would be my true choice. It has been nightmare. My old gutters worked better than the New ones, installed by Huff n Puff after Almost $ 5000 . I am at my wits end . First they were pitched wrong and multiple downspouts weren't even getting water in them , as all the water was flowing off the ends and areas that were hanging improperly . They made a firm appointment with me to address this issue . The service provider never showed up , not even a call . Loosing a day of work myself having to be home for the appointment. Made another appointment after calling supervisor to let him know I was dissatisfied with this situation. He apologized and said he would send his guy out to take care of it . Took another day off from work for the SECOND appointment to address the Water Flowing over gutters. Second issue ICE First in downspout. Ice Busted the seam wide open ,and there at the break. Grew a giant stalagmite From the floor of my deck up to the break in the seam of the downspout. I took pictures and filmed it and sent it in to huff and puff via email Someone came out to see it and wrote up a work order and said they would be back and take care of it . They said it was overloaded and would add another downspout so it wouldn't be overworked and would also clear up issues of water goin over and falling onto threshold. Great That was over 6 weeks later Also I addressed the icicles. He's said I needed to get heater cables to get rid of them That it's normal to have icicles... NO ITS NOT -I NEVER HAD ICICLES LIKE THIS BEFORE These are ... Like I had never seen before ! ICICLE HELL ... So I take another day off . to have the downspout that was broken all along the seam replaced . Guy does what he said he would do . Then get me to sign off on the work order. Which did not include replacing the downspout that was broken, I said oh that's not in the work order. And the guy told me it wasn't broken I ask him if it wasn't broken then why did you replace it? He had no answer I had to write it into the work order myself I took pictures it's all very well-documented. I feel that they just wanted to not have it on record that their product failed. Anyhow I still have giant ICICLES and I'm really not happy. Literally I had an 8 foot icicle, completely insane. I GOT HIT BY ONE , Picture included, while cleaning up after my dog in the dog pen along the house . I worry for my innocence Furrbabies I'm really disappointed and disgusted. I have called them. And I have gotten no reply. I have asked them for the corporate office. And they said they do not have it. I'm really disappointed with this whole situation almost $5000 I put out thinking I would have a gutter system needing minimal maintenance, and now I don't even have a functional gutter system. read more

10 minutes agoNEW-Edit This was a horrible experience. Had an initial evaluation for estimate for full gutter replacement on 8/26/2021 with Mitchell Mendelson. The cost 2620.00. At no time did he discuss using old gutters on part of the second story of our house. WE WERE CLEAR WE WANTED NEW GUTTERS and expected that. Our old gutters on the front of the house second story had a 12ft gutter. It was replaced with a 5ft gutter. We waited for the install till October 5th. When I came home the back drain spout gutter was 8 feet long blocking sidewalk. The front of the house downspout was sticking out at least a foot and was a safety hazard. The second story back of the house was left with an elbow only to drain entirely on the roof. On October 11th they sent Larry out to correct the massive mistakes. He did a good job, but he said he spoke with Mitch and everything was in the contract.. So...when you want your gutters replaced make sure they don't use your old gutters. We scheduled an estimate for a front door installation after meeting a rep from this company at an event in Troy. While the salesman they sent was very nice, prompt and polite, he did not even attempt to work within our budget. In fact, he never asked our budget, nor did he let us know the different pricing levels of product. That's pretty standard when trying to sell products but, maybe because of our age, the salesman assumed we aren't savvy about these things. He was here at our home for the better part of an hour while measuring doors and telling us about materials. When that was complete, the estimate he wrote up was for $6,391. Talk about sticker shock. He then told us he could give us a "break" for $5,400. I want to make it clear: This is for one front door with a glass window, delivered and installed. One door. A normal door that you would see on the front of any home. Not a double-door, not a sliding door, not an organic, free-range artisanal door coated with coconut oil... A door with a knob. After wasting an hour of our time we (obviously) declined this company's services. I understand working for commission but this was pretty unprofessional. We will instead be painting the door we already have and replacing the knobs. read more

Horrible experience!! We meet with Mitchell Mendelson to get an estimate on all new gutters for our home, we just got a new roof one month earlier. We were clear we wanted all new gutters, when installed several weeks later, they used the old gutter in the back of the house, at NO time was that discussed. They also connected the old gutter at the top to the new one along the garage by putting an elbow on the old system to drain down the new roof to the garage gutter, total incompetence! We had to have them return to fix all the mistakes. We didn't get what we wanted or expected, absolutely awful dealing with this company and especially Mitchell Mendelson. I find it hard to believe there are no reviews on this place. They were probably removed because after my parents incident, we have heard nothing but bad reports on this company. The preference in using this company was to go local and my parents replaced their bay window with the 50 year manufacturers warranty. This was not a cheap investment. 4 years after the windows were installed the windows began frosting between the panes. When my parents attempted to call regarding the warranty to have this fixed they were told the warranty was no longer valid because the company that provided the window was no longer in business. But they would be happy to fix the windows for a cost. Absolutely ridiculous. Cut to another year or so later a rep. shows up at the door to try to sell them more business after they saw the window. After being told it was THEIR WINDOW that that they were offering a new deal on to replace they meagerly called a supervisor to see if there was anything they could do. We haven't heard from them since. The windows will get fixed - by another company. And we will be showing the next company how great their "warranty" is, as well as their customer service. I am not happy with the installation of the Gutter Helmet - and certainly not for the money I paid Huff n Puff for the installation. At NO time during the sales process or during the installation itself was it explained that the gutter shields could (or would) have to be installed ABOVE the shingles and screwed directly DIRECTLY into the roof shingles. During the sales presentation, the gutter shields were shown as being screwed into the roof after being placed UNDER a row of shingles for protection. Apparently, there was an 'alternate installation method' where the shields are just screwed directly INTO the shingles if the shingle distances are off from the edge. The salesperson never mentioned this possibility, and the installer never mentioned that they were using this alternate installation method. The fact that the shields were screwed into the shingles rather under the shingles was not noticable from ground level. I discovered that I had sixty to seventy screws put into my roof AFTER I climbed up a few days later to see how it looked. I was shocked to see a row of screwed-in panels going down the full length of my house. The entire roof, front and back, was installed this way. Upon inspection, I found a few faults with the installation. For example, the screw they used on one panel was close enough to the edge of the shingle above that it pushed that shingle up a bit. When I called to complain about the installation, I was informed of this 'alternate installation method'. No explanation why I was never informed of the possiblity that they would needo install with screws above the shingles. They did come back to correct a few issues I addressed - but I hadn't gone on the roof myself, they would have never been found. They were obvious problems that should never have been left from the initial installation. Seeing the final result of a bunch of screw holes in my shingles, I would NOT have had the Helmet installed. I am very worried about future leaks with some sixty screws embedded in my roof shingles. A few weeks after the installation found one soft spot where a screw was not secure. This was a spot where the installer had come back to fix because that area appeared crooked (which was probably because of the spot.) I was actually able to remove the loose screw with my fingers. Didn't look like much sealant in place. I added my own sealant to the screw and replaced. I'm not having Huff n Puff back again. I don't feel that I was provided the product that I was sold. I'm worried that I traded one problem (the gutters) for another (future roof problems). Time will tell, I guess. This project was NOT worth the high price or headaches. I will not use Huff n Puff of Middletown again for any home project. The reason I gave one star in this review is because I gave a two-star review when Huff n Puff asked for direct feedback, but then never heard back from them. Hopefully, this review will get someone's attention. read more

I called this company to install gutters on the upstairs roof years ago. When the service rep arrived, he took one look and said it was too much work and left. I called them again after this to repair the gutters already installed and they said they would send someone out to look at the job at a certain time. Three minutes before this scheduled time, they called and said the agent would not be able to come. After this I kept receiving calls pressuring me to buy windows and doors. read more

No stars if it were possible, because there is not a NEGATIVE star rating. My wife calls to set up an appointment for estimating the replacing of our front porch windows. The FIRST thing the customer service woman asks is, "Are you married, or living with a significant other?" NOT "are you the owner of the property or are there more people?" Then she rambles on to say that "IF they show up and you are NOT alone, they will LEAVE!" Then we see a van go by the front of the house a few times a couple of hours later, but they never did stop. I tried to call back this morning (6/29/13) and the phone person says she can take a message because ALL the "managers" are in a meeting, like they do every Friday morning. I have her put my call back to the manager and it goes to voice mail with, "TOM!"... that's it !! No your call is important...leave a message and I'll call you back soon, etc... Made the mistake of not looking them up on yelp or elsewhere before we hired them. Basically, we hired them to our new gutters on our house. They had a concern about the facia, but after inspecting it TWICE determined no repair needed to be made. They also quoted us $200 if anything had to be repaired, but again they said it didn't. Flash forward just a week later to the first snowfall, and the gutter is hanging off our house. After calling them 5 times to get someone out to take a look, they changed their mind on the facia and all of the sudden it was $700 to repair it, which they said was "a deal". They took the gutter down. They said we could repair it ourselves and call them to re-hang. Well, we had a local handyman repair the facia for the original couple hundred, and called them NO JOKE 5 more times to come back and re-hang their gutter. They said "their computer was down" every week that my husband called. I bet their computer isn't down for taking new business, though--only fixing what they broke. To this date they have not returned our call, and we are out $2K on gutters that are siting in my back yard. read more

Huff 'N Puff products cost me several thousand dollars. The purchase experience was okay. Same with the installation. Their gutter guards kept most but not all of the leaves out. Not as good at keeping pine needles out. Or the gritty debris that is on shingles. Before long, that combination caused the gutters to clog in a few places. I called Huff & Puff several times, left messages for several employees but never heard back from anyone. I probably should never have mentioned clogged gutters in my first message because I never heard from them again. Few things in life bug me more than people who do not return phone calls, especially from someone I paid thousands to. I eventually paid another company to clean the gutters who happen to mention he gets calls like mine all the time. If you have lots of trees, all gutter guards will eventually fail in some places. Maybe some other gutter companies stand behind their products and pride themselves with good customer service better than Huff 'N Puff, these people do not. read more

I decided to write this review after seeing yet another of the panes in my huge bow window start to 'pixelate' with mold or fungus or whatever 'grows' inside the window once the seal fails. Triple panned windows! With, gasp, krypton gas no less! How could that possibly fail? And should it fail? Guess what? It's a lifetime warranty!! Oh, wait, no that was a big fat lie actually. Apparently Gorell, the company that made these fabulous windows has been bought out by Soft-lite and SHOCKER the new owners are not honoring the warranty. No customer appreciation on Huff n Puff's part either. They will replace at cost with no installation fee . Gee thanks for the consolation prize fellas! I must say that the negative comments here about Huff and Puff are not consistent with my experience. I purchased the gutters and gutter helmet. The salesman came when he said he would and went through the product very carefully. The installers, Anthony and Derek, were on time and did the work efficiently and were very personable. The reason i don't give 5 stars is that I haven't had the product long enough to know if it works and whether or not H&P stands by their lifetime guarantee. Story 1 hear about Gorrell Windows - Thumbs Down on Gorrell windows they fog-up after about 5 years - Huff n Puff tells us the manufacturer is under new owners and they do not honor the past warranties - I can see why - the windows are junk. Huff n Puff will install replacement sashes (are they any better than originals?) for a big price - like one half what a new window costs. Huff n Puff should think about what is happening to their reputation and perhaps handle the Gorrell problem a little differently - I do not think they care about us out-of-luck homeowners. The mild-mannered, "nice guy" salesman was a wolf in sheep's clothing; we never saw it coming when he pulled the classic "bait-and-switch" scam. Then there was some sort of "miscommunication" between the sales rep and the office staff, because the office had NO idea that the deadline of the installation was imperative and guaranteed to us by the sales rep. The installers show up the evening before the deadline, visibly irritated by the amount of work thrust upon them at apparently the last minute, which is when we discovered the aforementioned bait-and-switch -- conveniently timed so that we had no choice but to let them continue with the inferior product. To round out this awful experience, my adolescent daughters were treated to a colorful conversation the installers were having about various local strip clubs. I wish there was an option for a negative star rating, because 1 star is too many for this company. read more

This is the second time I used Gutter Helmet. First install was on my house which went very well and works great. Second time was on my 2 car garage addition. They changed the way they install the system and it was screwed down on top of and through my shingles. They state that this is an option, but wish I had been given the choice to have the metal Gutter Helmet installed under the shingles like the first install. It just seems wrong to be on top of the shingles and I have seen water go under the metal edge. read more

Beware of bait and switch for both your time and your money. This is a Renewal by Anderson franchise, which is nationwide, and has many comments online that describe an identical experience all over the country. They sell only one version of the Anderson line. Time: They claim that the appointment will be 60-90 minutes, but there is a rigid script, which took over 2 1/2 hours, and that with pushing to get the guy to finish. Much of the time is wasted with show and tell models of other people's windows and why they are so bad, and how thick the ones they will put in are. Also, the person looks for any evidence of bits of dirt that accumulate in the corners of the existing windows when they are open, and declares it to be black mold. Money: At the end of the very, very long presentation, there is an extremely high quote, which the salesperson refuses to break down. However, we are assured that the massively advertised 40% off sale has so much fine print that the current person will do much better than that. Further theatrics continue, with the price continuously dropping. However, to get this price, you need to give them a deposit before the person leaves your home, even though there is no written estimate. The assurance is that you have 30 days to prove that exactly equivalent windows are available for less money, and they will refund the deposit. The windows may be OK, but it is impossible to figure out if the price is decent, and the whole experience begins to sound like a TV show about high-pressure sales. read more

I want Anderson windows however huff n puff will not be doing the work. Huff n puff did previous work on my home and despite providing pictures of uninsulated walls they had ben paid to insulate huff n puff refused to address the issue and ignored me. Charging full price and only providing a fraction of what was paid for violated the law and I wish I knew that at the time. They split the company to try and hide the huff n puff name behind Anderson Windows. There are other Anderson contractors available, please choose one of those and read the reviews. read more

Why is there no way to give this company a minus five star rating? They are sexist and unprofessional. On March 28, 2015, I called to set up an appointment for a consultation to replace several windows. The person on the phone sounded like a young female. She asked me for my name, address, phone number and some information about the windows I wanted to replace. Then she said, "Are you married or living with someone?" I told her that was not relevant, and she told me she had to make sure about who the "decision maker in the household" was, and whether I would be "consulting with someone else." I told her that I was the homeowner, and would be making the decision about the windows. She was persistent, and asked, once again, "But are you married, living with someone, or do you have a significant other?" I told her I was not going to answer that question, and I would like to know the name of the salesperson who would be coming to my house. She told me her manager would have to give me that information, but that she was on another line and would have to call me back. A few minutes later, another woman called me and confirmed my name and address, and the types of windows I was interested in. She then said, "Now Shawn, we have to know whether you are married, have a significant other, or are living with someone?" Once again, I told her that was not relevant, and that she could look on the Albany County Clerk's website and confirm that I was the homeowner. This did not deter her, and she would not give up. I asked her whether if a man called for an appointment, he would be asked if the "little woman" would be present? She insisted that they had to be certain that "all of the decision makers were present because the windows are custom windows." This went on and on, and even after I told her I did not want to do business with Huff 'n Puff, she kept it up until I hung up on her. If I had to manufacture the glass, make and install the windows myself, I would not do business with this company. I gave two stars only because they offered a discount for paying the entire cost of the gutters up front; otherwise, I would have only given one star. Part of the reason I went with Huff 'N Puff for my gutters was their lifetime warranty. What they don't tell you is that getting them to come service the gutters under this warranty is like pulling teeth. I had the gutters installed last spring. When I had them cleaned in the fall, the person I hired to clean them told me that the pitch was off. Several of the gutter clips had fallen off, and he found them in the yard. I called Huff 'N Puff once a week for five weeks, leaving detailed messages on voice mail and with employees, before someone called me back about servicing the gutters. At that time, I attempted to schedule an appointment, but I was told that they couldn't give me a definite date of service until approximately two days before they would come. Since I work and there is no one at my house during the day, I needed to make arrangements to be home or to have someone else be at my house for the service, so I asked to be notified as soon as a date for the service became available. I was not able to be home for the first date that was offered, so I asked for the next available date. When I didn't hear anything for another week, I called and left another messsage. Another attempt was made to schedule a date of service, but, once again, Huff 'N Puff failed to follow up. I resumed my schedule of calling once a week, having to leave a message every time because the person I needed to speak with was never available. Only after I submitted a complaint via their website did I get another call back. At that point, there was two feet of snow on the ground, and I was told to call back when the snow melted. I called again two or three weeks ago, and I just got a call back four days ago. I was given a date that someone would be at my house to check the gutters, and I was told that I'd get a call two days prior to that to give me an approximate time. That call never came, so I called the day before the date of service to find out when the service person would be arriving the next day. An annoyed-sounding employee told me that there was no way to give me an approximate time until the actual date of the service, because "they do their scheduled appointements first, and then they do the service calls." Apparently, lifetime warranty service calls are not considered appointments that can be scheduled, and if you need your gutters serviced, you're expected to sit around all day waiting for someone to show up. Frankly, seeing as I've been trying to get the gutters checked for almost five months now, I'll be surprised if anyone from Huff 'N Puff ever shows up to service them. I would not recommend purchasing anything from this company unless you can be sure the product will never need service. read more

This place is ridiculous. They spend an inordinate amount of time questioning you about your home and making sure your spouse will be available for the appointment, then they call you three times to go through an agonizing confirmation and re-confirmation process but never ask you any actual questions about the circumstances of your home or the job you are requesting a quote for. I just had my time supremely wasted by these people when they came to my home, they said not only could they not add a gutter to the back of my home because I have a rubber roof (something no one ever asked me when I made the appointment) they also had no way of repairing the leaky POS gutters that they had already installed on my house because the "angles weren't 90 degrees". What started out as a good experience turned into a very poor one. Their senior sales rep came out, measured two areas and provided a quote. It did did not include the cost for an electrician to install and wire in the breaker. We signed the contact and shook hands. The next day he called back and said he made a math error and the cost was actually double. I offered to meet him half way in spite of the fact that we had a signed contact. He said I had to speak to his boss which I did. His boss offered a modest discount above the half way point I was willing to go, and proceeded to read me his fine print about a signed contract not really being binding for a math error. He then sent a certified letter to rescind the contact. The cost they wanted for the work (running cheap wire) was ridiculously high, especially since it didn't include the electrical work ( which was the hardest part).
