All of the men that did work on the house were professional, skilled and solution-oriented when faced with the many problems of an older home. However, the owners attempted a few times to attribute design problems to the "character" of an old home. At times we felt that our "small" six figure project was mocked because we were unable to fit their particle board/melamine cabinets and other high end finishes into the budget. Unfortunately, we mistakenly used the sales team as a design team. We were agressively sold an expensive subcontracted banister which was installed into stairs that will need to be rebuilt even after requesting that it should be done last only if the budget allows. If you use Schrader because of their excellent master craftsmen and woodworking abilities, use an independent design group that provides true to scale digital renderings and follows the project to finish. It is a conflict of interest to involve the sales team during the design process. Also, subcontract as much as you can on your own. We had many small electrical, plumbing, sheet-rocking and tiling issues that were never resolved because we didn't notice them soon enough. Overall, everything was built to code, and I'm happy with the outcome, but the project ran way over budget and aesthetic details were not resolved in a fair manner.

While this company's concierge service was decorating a local Saratoga house (as they do every…read moreyear) with mostly absent homeowners, one of the staff they employ to do the work was absolutely rude to a neighborhood of year round Saratogian residents. Using a lift crane to decorate their customers home they completely blocked the street for hours and yelled at the residents to "go around the block" and at one point even gave the middle finger to two of us. Rather than say "sorry for the inconvenience and would you mind going around temporarily", they chose to be extremely rude. I find this unacceptable for a company that touts themselves as "local".

Our goal was to restore it to its original liveability as a single family home. Teakwood has a reputation as expensive and our initial bid, to do everything on a wish list, was pretty high. But they worked with us and a revised bid was significantly lower and we went with them. This bid entailed a clear-eyed distinction between "need to" and "nice to" improvements so we ended up with a price we were happy with. The quality of the work, both by Teakwood carpenters and their subs, is superb. Teakwood has a philosophy of assigning a master carpenter to oversee the job and our guy, Dan Decenzo, could not be better. Josh, the guy who did a number of built-ins, is a master of his craft and we now have benches and bookcases that look like they have been there 130 years like the rest of the structure. We were offered a 1 year satisfaction guarantee and I'm prompted to write because, well over 1 year after the fact, Dan has been back recently to fix a couple minor things. Bottom line, we are really happy with Teakwood and would definitely recommend you bid out your project to them.

We even had the added challenge of a product color issue which they noticed after the sunlight hit it a certain way. This involved them removing quite a bit of siding and re-installing the problem areas. We went with oversized corners, and wide width window frame caps to keep it period correct, which again challenged the crew. We…read morewanted a complete tear off of our old cedar siding, installation of 1/2" insulation board and installation of vinyl shake siding which has specific installation requirements. Scott estimated that the project would take up to a month even with a 3-4 man crew. He indicated that once they started my project they would work on only my project until it was completed. Pricing was agreed upon as well as costs for overages such as replacing rotten plywood, etc. Even though they used more plywood than we agreed and I had a couple spots with wood damage, we were not charged any additional for the project. We made several after the fact upgrades (6" gutters instead of 5", hidden soffit, etc. We were only charged the difference in the cost of the materials even though some of my requests required additional labor. We were very happy with the attention to detail that the crew had. They went above and beyond on our front entrance and garage doors to match the Azek trim that we had requested. Once they started our project, they worked on it exclusively every day (except 2 awful weather days) until it was fully complete. It took 3 1/2 weeks to complete. The pricing was not the lowest, but was far more reasonable than most of the other quotes that I received and the crew was skilled and efficient and they took pride in their work. Our home looks great and we have received many compliments from the neighbors. We highly recommend Precision Exteriors to anyone needing siding work in the Capital Region!

DQ provided the most reasonable quote at a reasonable time. Devis was incredibly responsive, communicative, and respectful. He was reluctant to provide advice on paint colors, but it was clear we didn't like the color I picked out for my living room. After some deliberation, a new color was picked and his team repainted the living room at no extra charge. Another important detail is that I'm pretty handy myself, and most contractors I've dealt with were generally dismissive of women who know a thing or two about home repairs, tools, and the work it entails. Not Devis. He and his partners were great - they listened, considered my input, and I never felt dismissed in any way. The work took a bit longer than expected due to material shortage but the end result was beautiful. I'm absolutely going to use QD for my kitchen renovation soon.
