I would recommend Gus Automotive. Close to the interstate exit of Stuart. If you run into an issue you can get right over there. Our adventure consisted of a wobble in a tire. Not just any vibration in any vehicle but one in an older RV. Going down the interstate the vibration got worse. We pulled off in Stuart and went right over to Gus Automotive. They came right out, walked around our RV and agreed right away that we had a bad tire. Although they did not have the tire on hand, they let us stay in their parking lot and use their tool so we could get our spare on. We were in a really good position to be able to purchase the tire from them and pick it up at a later time. They were able to get the new tire and balance and get it all ready for us at our convenience. When two semi tires came loose from an 18 wheeler on White Pole Road and headed straight for our vehicle we had to take our car off into the ditch to avoid a possible wreck with the semi, and tire to the body and/or windshield of our vehicle. One of my girlfriends was driving across country at night and was informed from passing cars that her muffler was low and sparking on I-80. She spent the night in Stuart IA in her truck. I googled around for her and called Gus Automotive next day. Well lady on phone said they couldn't get her in till Monday and it was Thursday. The tire place in town gave me a name of another auto place in Stuart..she went there and was back on the road in less than 5 minutes. I was traveling from St. Paul MN to Santa Fe NM. Woke up in the morning to continue my trip and my truck wouldn't start. After failed jumping attempts, had it towed to Gus', and they had it running for me by 11:30 AM. I had a flat tire on the interstate and had Gus's number down on my list as a "maybe" in case I ever got in trouble. Well I did get in trouble. And yes, he tows cars. (The advertising doesn't necessarily say that.) Well that turned out to be a great day. Gus was there personally within maybe 5-7 mins, and I had a great time talking with him about his rotary piloting and what not. The tire shop in Stuart was closed that day (Gus doesn't sell tires anymore) and I had an appointment to get to in Des Moines. Gus just happened to have one used tire in his shop and it fit my truck! I was back on the road in no time, and more importantly I had a _great_ time there. I don't even remember what the towing and tire cost, it was so inconsequential. I know it was cheap compared to what I'm used to in the city. And he sure earned a customer that day. Unfortunately I do most of my own auto work, so my only regret is that I will not be giving him a bunch of business. He sure as hell deserves it! Customer for LIFE (when I need a shop or a tow). These are good people. Their internet presence (or lack of) well you'll just have to overlook. They've got like a 4-6-bay shop with lots of equipment, it's not a rinkie dink operation. And locallly he's second to none I'm sure. I was blown away when I saw his shop compared to his ads. It's just a different generation, guys. And he's got _decades_ of experience under his belt. My husband and I were driving through to visit family in Omaha when suddenly our truck started sputtering and losing speed. We pulled off the highway and it conked out on us like it was out of gas even though we had almost a full tank. Not being from the area, we had to Google towing services and repair shops and I'm sure glad that we found Gus. When he arrived, we had actually gotten the truck to start again but we weren't confident in it so Gus told us to drive to his shop and he'd follow us. We knew as soon as we tried to merge on to the highway that something was still wrong so Gus loaded us up and towed us back to his shop. Our truck was ready to go early Monday morning and it ended up being only a fuel filter. We paid a very fair price and I agree with the other commenters on the quality of service and the well stocked service shop.
