Don't ever confuse being furious with being difficult! First LIE; Shawn, Bill & Shawn Jr ALL proudly shared with me the new 30K Engine Analyzer they had & would be using to diagnose the reason for the SERVICE ENGINE SOON warning dash light coming on. Second LIE; Yes THAT SERVICE ENGINE SOON is the correct light that was on & the reason I brought my mother's car in. Shawn was aware THAT was the warning dash light that was lit & he even reset it following their unneeded service. Not a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. Third Lie; I DID NOT MOVE ANY BARREL blocking your carwash entrance & for you to accuse me of doing that is beyond ridiculous. If Shawn is such an honest guy, as you initially touted to me, he would have told you HE MOVED THAT BARREL & then told me to drive in & he'd start the carwash. It never started, not one drop of water was ever released. Shawn even apologized to me saying he was sorry he didn't realize it was not working. I was even told to come back in the Springtime for a free wash. I hope my reviews give future potential customers pause before taking their vehicle to your service center. Again with the false accusations. Any still pictures you claim to have of "a woman moving your barrel" is not me. Ask Shawn, IF he's the honest guy you say he is, he'll tell you the truth, HE MOVED THAT BARREL. YOU however are the height of an unprofessional businessman. Funny how when you texted me pleading with me to bring the car back you stated "I'm not like those other guys, I'm professional & I just want to make it right for you" HA AND by calling a dissatisfied customer a "Karen" immediately identifies you as a immature & hateful MAGA, certainly NOT ANY KIND OF PROFESSIONAL!

I received my inspection report within a few hours, and I am so so happy I did this! This was the most in depth, thorough prepurchase inspection I have ever gotten. My suspicions were right on with the vehicle. At 120,000 miles, I saw that the Carfax didn't mention any maintenance or service past the 100,000 mile mark, BIG red flag! At that mileage there's much that needs to be done...timing belt, all fluids flushed, possible water pump, gaskets, shocks/struts, etc. None of that had been done to this car, resulting in needing a timing belt replacement (I thought I heard the faint sound of it being worn out when I test drove it), shocks/struts, gasket leaks, and a new alternator, to the tune of around $7,000. Oh, and the kicker was they found that there were several diagnostic codes that were recently cleared. Hmmm, wonder who cleared those? Needless to say, I did not purchase this vehicle. I did inform the dealership that was selling it of the issues, and as you can imagine, they didn't care and said that Christian Bros was making stuff up so they could sell me more services. Um, you're also trying to sell me something and it smells like lemons! Christian Bros has never let me down, and I've never done business with you. BTW- we live in Ankeny and Christian Bros has been our go to for honest, reliable car repairs. I will continue looking and will always bring my cars to them, they are the best! They gave me a reasonably priced estimate, so I decided to have the work done there. I left my car at the shop and expected the repair to take at least three hours. Instead, they called me after about two hours and said the job was finished. When I arrived to inspect the vehicle, I immediately noticed that the fender had not been properly aligned after it was reinstalled. When I pointed this out, they began loosening and adjusting the fender outside in the parking lot instead of correcting it properly in the shop. I also discovered that not all of the plastic clips that had been removed during the repair were reinstalled. Leaving out fasteners is unacceptable and raises concerns about the quality of the workmanship. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet my expectations. This was my first visit to this shop, and it will also be my last.

And still not better. Two months go by and it's apparent that at least one of the new struts has failed. Confirmed by independent shop (our regular shop). Took the car back to Brakes Plus to have the strut replaced under warranty. Found out both struts failed. Interesting and pretty coincidental. Work done on 4/27/23. Went to pick it up after leaving it for a day. Was told there was issues with the stabilizer bars that had to be changed. When I looked surprised, the technician said "oh, didn't someone call you to talk about that?" No, no they did not. Two days later, I notice a lot of grease thrown around the driver side front wheel well. Closer inspection revealed several holes in the outer CV joint seal. Again went to independent shop and they said the holes were undoubtedly caused by heat from a torch, as when someone might cut away a seized bolt in a stabilizer link. At this point we've decided that B+ cannot be trusted to "fix" anything so we had our regular shop put a new CV joint on. All good now right? Nope! We started noticing more and more front end noise again over the next or so. Thought maybe the struts were going out again. Not the case though, as it was found that the bolts on the stabilizer links were not tightened by Brakes Plus. On one side the bolts were almost falling out and the other side were hand tight. We've tried multiple time to get this situation resolved and have only received cursory responses that offer nothing in the way of progress. And we've spent nearly $1,300 having these mistakes fixed elsewhere because we have no confidence that Brakes Plus could competently get us on the road again and not have another issue small or large. In short, if you value your time, money, and peace of mind that your driving a safe vehicle when you leave a repair shop, look somewhere else.
