I came here a few days ago after their usual morning rush. I was in the mood for donuts and didn't…read morewant the usual generic Dunkin or Krispy Kreme and saw that I was closest to this spot, so I was like, why not? It's located in a tiny row of storefronts with a single strip of shared parking spaces. Inside, it felt warm and inviting with a few seats by the window. The displays with donuts were mostly empty except with a select few still left over. It's cool that they offer both yeast and cake donuts to choose from. I ended up getting a half dozen with red velvet frosted, cherry glazed, regular glazed, lemon filled jelly donut, and two more that I can't recall. And I got this interesting chocolate milk that had a good amount of protein in it too. Donuts and milk! The donuts tasted pretty good. A good combination of airiness and fluffy and seemed to be fully cooked through. That lemon filled jelly donut was pretty hefty too; definitely one of the heaviest donuts I've ever had...lol As I was checking out, the lady behind the counter informed me this particular store has been going strong for more than 40 years, which is damn impressive!! I'll definitely be coming back here for more delicious donuts!

I could have ate a couple more. The next day I ate the apple danish. It held up nicely a day later and wasn't all dried out. It was reminiscent of the apple danishes that McDonalds used to sell years ago, but 10x better. The apple filling was a sweet delight that i can rarely find. I really enjoyed the pastries here and everything tasted way better than they looked. If I would have known the goods were going to be great, I would have bought a lot more. To bad I won't be back out that way until next summer.

The menu options are endless, and they even have freshly made waffles, empanadas and various pastries. The waffles fill the air when you order one so you know it's made fresh and you get to pick the toppings. I've also tried the beef empanada and the breakfast one, they both come with a sauce that has a slight kick but the perfect treat when you want something soft and savory. In the cooler they also have various sweet treats. The Portuguese egg tart and the ube brownie are delish! This coffee shop is also pet friendly! We love to bring our little one and our pup to hang out and they love the attention. Overall we have a great experience every time and you can tell they care about the drinks they put out. I gotta make my way back to try one of their flights!

I added it up later and I obviously had paid for it. It was a rude enough experience it definitely prevents me from ever ordering there again. And it might impact my next decision on whether to even go back to this GWL location. They should remove this place after all these negative reviews and get a place that improves the hotel, not ruins it.

The donuts here at Gurnee Donuts are simply amazing! Let me tell you about their maple bacon that I had, it was hands down the best I've ever tasted. But that's not all. I also tried their chocolate frosted yeast donut and a blueberry cake donut, and both were absolutely wonderful. Every bite was a burst of flavor! Their products are unique and delicious.
