Holy croaker this was a delightful stop! Come thru the charming lil town of Manning and stop just one block off the Main Street at this family run local favorite. We had fried croaker (never heard of that fish? Is either. It's white and sort of a cousin to tilapia), hush puppies (mmm) and "my sisters stewed chicken and gravy) which was IMO the piece de resistance! So perfectly satiny smooth and just right salty and the chicken fell of the bone and please just go get some. They make all of it to order so it's piping hot, fresh fresh fresh and also you have time to soak in the vibe which is created by the awesomely friendly sister behind the register. For us she had stories including some local tea & a built in moral dilemma for us to consider while we waited. My only complaint about this place is that it is 938 miles from my house,

Zero stars really. I hate to do this because I love to support black-owned businesses, but after what my family and I experienced today, I'm convinced they should close their doors. We came in from out of town for a funeral. We decided to go on a double date, hoping to enjoy some seafood based on the positive reviews and the fact that it was black-owned. How very wrong we were. It took over an hour just to get shrimp and grits and some fish sandwiches. By the time our orders finally arrived, we had all lost our appetites. You could hear them arguing in the kitchen and it was all very unprofessional. This place completely ruined what little quality time my husband and I get away from the kids. I'm so upset and disappointed. They need to see this review and realize they must improve drastically, or they won't last much longer. I will add pictures later of the food. I'm so upset. Please save your time and go anywhere else but here. Update: I got a refund on the shrimp and grits because I wasn't hungry anymore and it took too long. My husband got crab legs and a shrimp po boy that we both thought was not good. Fried shrimp was salty, sandwich was bread and "special sauce". Save your money and time.

Great stop along i95 just a little beyond beaten path! Only have outdoor seating. Flavor is on point! Service is a bit slow but they make up for it with the food! Will be back on our next trip through! Snow crab legs delicious! Also great was the fried shrimp with a Thai sauce - yummy!

A small quiet shop with big plates. A serving of ox tails and rice was enough for two, I tried to push through and failed. The rice was delicious and the ox tails were a meal by themselves. The only drawback was that the flatware wasn't big enough to hold more and I didn't ask for some white bread. The whiting meal was just as good. The fish was fried well and flaky. This was true Gullah cuisine and not just a name to get you in. If your from the Low Country you know what I mean. A customer ahead of me provide a peak of his low country boil so a return trip is a guarantee.

Captains Quarters is just across the street. Yelp showed great reviews and the menu was super appealing. Mix of seafood, steaks and just good home cooking. It opens at 5pm for dinner weekdays. We got there about 6 to a pretty large crowd already. Apparently the locals know . Gypsy was our amazing server. Sweet and super knowledgeable. She's this places best advertisement. She had great tips on the whole menu. She was spot on for the red sauce. Chicken parm was perfectly tender. Sauce was like Nonnas. Recommendation to do the shrimp blackened was perfect. Way too much food for sure but she did warn that we would not go home hungry!! Beer was cold. Wine recommended was perfect and did we mention Ms Ellie? Ms E is an amazing young lady who stood watch on the whole dining room. With a hawklike gaze she quickly recognized a table needing bussed or a chair needing straightened And didn't need a prompt. Her quick action ensured table turn times were super Low. Please recognize her hard work. She's making everyone money!!! We stopped by to show her our appreciation on our way out and she lit up . Two big meals. Beer and wine and I was embarrassed how small our bill was. What a great bargain and great find. We booked the same hotel for our April trip so we can come back here!! See ya soon Gypsy!!

We were just passing through Santee SC for an overnight and sought out the Prime Rib dinner at the Lake House. It definitely did not disappoint! All the wait staff were super friendly and helpful. They pride themselves on scratch cooking (as do I!). Be sure to save room for dessert and plan on not being able to finish it. I gotta say, the OMG Carrot Cake just might be the best carrot cake since I got married so many years ago. Each slice is 4 layers tall and so massive that it's served on a dinner plate.

RVers are a "captured audience" since onecan walk from his or her RV to the restaurant. This is quite convenient. As well, the restaurant is located in a scenic environment. These are the two big pluses. As stated earlier, offerings are not tasty. They are way overpriced for what is delivered. One in our party had Yaya's cut of steak for 35 bucks. Take a look at the picture below and ask yourself a question: would you pay 35 bucks for this? The taste was not there. The portion size was not commencement for the price. Salads are not delivered as salads, but rather a bed of greens slathered with so much dressing that one can barely taste the salad at all. This place is a huge disappointment and a waste of your dollars. Don't bother stopping by.
