My wife and I made the trip down from Sumter to check out the town of Manning and D&H Bar-B-Que. We have been exploring various new places since relocating to the area and what I read about this place online was very encouraging. In my opinion, this place is DEFINITELY worth checking out if you are in the Manning area. They have a buffet with a wide variety of entrees and sides on it. The price is very reasonable and includes dessert. (Just make sure you save room for it!) We will definitely be heading back to D&H on our next trip down to Manning read more

I had a really disappointing experience at D&H tonight. I called around 7:20 to place a pickup order, and the person who answered was rude and told me I needed to come in to order they weren't taking any call in orders since they close at 8pm. So I hung up and drove there like they said. When I got to the drive-thru and tried to order a fish and shrimp plate, I was then told they weren't cooking fish or shrimp anymore tonight. That would've been helpful to know when I called. I use to enjoy this place but things have changed and i will never be back again. It honestly felt like the owner wasn't there, because the service and communication were way off compared to what you'd expect. Just a frustrating experience overall. read more

Driving from Charleston to our home in Charlotte area I decided to go through Manning. My wife looked up D&H and we stopped for lunch. It had a good crowd which is always a good sign the food is good. We decided to get the buffet which was reasonably priced and the selections were good. I got BBQ, rice and hash along with a pork chop and a piece of fried chicken along with some hush puppies and potato salad. I got sweet tea to drink and it was delicious as was all the food. I also got a piece of pecan pie which was very good. They also had banana pudding and some cake slices which my wife said was also very good. This place rocks! Was in Manning and read about the fried chicken so I had to try it. The service is so quick for take out- I don't think I waited more than 5 minutes. All served by the friendliest person! The food was amazing- I basically inhaled it! Mac & cheese was so flavorful, the Cole slaw fresh, the field peas were cooked perfectly and the fried chicken was the star! Skin crispy and inside so moist and flavorful. Will probably get take out again before I leave. Taking one star off for no pepper vinegar. Any place with collards, cabbage or field peas has to have Pepper vinegar. read more

The food here is country fare. BBQ is delicious with vinegar based sauces you add yourself. Coleslaw is sweet and finely shredded. The small self serve buffet is kept stocked with hot food. Fried chicken is phenomenal when it's fresh out the fryer. Seafood buffet is offered ever Tuesday n Saturday night for $15 a person. We love the fried shrimp, seafood boil & catfish stew on seafood night. The banana pudding is great & pecan pie is always on the dessert bar with a variety of other desserts. Small town vibes abound when you eat here. You can see all your neighbors who are dining in as you enjoy your meal. Staff is always friendly, the food is fairly priced & tea is always delicious too. Awesome home cooked meal. Buffet is open and they do it right. Sanitize you're hands, put on gloves and 6 ft apart. Buffet has plexiglass shield and everyone wears masks and gloves. It's very inexpensive at 7.89 pp. Now the food is really good! Chicken is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Pork chop wasn't dry and cooked perfectly. I also tried SC style bbq. Being from eastern NC , I like a vinegar based sauce and this had vinegar with a little sweet and tangy kick. It had a red tint which I couldn't figure out but I'm a fan now. Macaroni and cheese was exactly the way I make mine, so I liked it. Green beans were out of a can but good and the sweet potato casserole was like mine too! Sweet with cinnamon and marshmallows. I was looking for fried chicken and decided to try this place. I'm sorry to say I was disappointed. The chicken was dry and the coating was greasy and soggy. I enjoyed the hush puppies. The Mac and cheese was congealed, not creamy at all. The rice was well cooked. He did enjoy the seafood buffet, and judging by the mounds of shrimp shells, so did every one else. ;-). I find the bad reviews here odd. For less than $8 you can get a buffet with pork BBQ and fried chicken, as well as a number of sides. Our hush puppies were 100% not frozen and store bought as someone said. The pork and chicken were both moist and tasty. Cole slaw, mac n cheese, and potato salad were all solid. I enjoyed everything I ate but my favorite was a dish that combined rice and chicken. I can't for the life of me remember the name but it started with a "P" and ended with "eaux." Thanks to Yelp for leading me to this great Southern gem! If you ever find yourself in South Carolina, D&H is only a short five minute detour from I-95 AND unlike other Christian chicken places, they are open on Sundays! It seems to me that D&H is THE place to hang out with neighbors after Sunday church service because as I was walking in I saw a big mess of Southern ladies in their big church hats on their way out. There are two ways to order here: from their takeout counter or eat at their buffet which closes down at two pm. The boy and I were in a rush so we decided to go the AYCE route which was a little less than nine dollars a person. The buffet isn't up to Vegas standards per say but they did have a nice selection of home cooking staples such as turnip greens, mac and cheese, potato salad, hush puppies, pulled pork, bbq chicken, fried chicken, banana pudding, red velvet cake ....and funfetti! This place is REALLY bare bones...they don't even have an ice machine! Instead they serve cool your drink with ice cubes from a mini cooler in the middle of the dining room. But don't let that deter you, this place is a great bang for your buck! The fried chicken was perfect. Not too greasy with a crispy skin and moist meat. The hush puppies were out of this world and surprisingly not too greasy as well! Rob raved about the pulled pork BBQ and even helped himself to seconds but I found it to be a little bit too vinegary for my taste. Mac and cheese is hands down the best I've ever had (sorry John Legend!). Our servers included a middle aged lady and a high school aged teenager who were gossiping about Kaye Lynne's auntie's momma's cousin Jamie Lynne from the church which was adorable to listen to. This is a hometown BBQ place with a small buffet. We enjoyed our meal. There was no waiting.

Quite simply the most disgusting BBQ I have EVER had. Seriously not trying to be mean... The pork was completely soaked in uber intense vinegar with waaaay too much pepper. The result?? A gagging reflex for both the taste buds and nose. I'm not sure what the cole slaw was made with, really not good either. Rice with hash was edible and hush puppies were not terrible but that's it. I have eaten BBQ in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Cali and even NY and jersey so I was expecting so much from SC. Texas has everyone beat by way too far. First off let me say I used to love this place, my father in law Bunny Clark turned me onto this place years ago. We even had many Clarks transport Christmas parties over the years and spent thousands of dollars with them overthe years..I've even met Henry the owner..though I couldn't tell it today...An order was mixed up by one of his employees, I had ordered hash and rice on my bbq plate. I've always been under the impression that hash and rice came with all bbq plates...when I noticed we had no hash and rice I went back to correct it...I was immediately told by the same girl that took my order that I had not asked for hash and rice... I told her no. I said my order 3 times, her reply? No you didnt!! Really, I asked to see Henry the manager and he came out, not asking a single question about what was going on and just handed my money back and said don't evver come back....I said so now you let your staff attack your customers and don't do anything? Bottom line if you go there and there aren't any issues on their part, it might be ok, but If they get something wrong management makes no effort to retain customers...I'm kinda surprised that they're still open! D&H is a short distance off off 95 so it was perfect. It's a small diner, that excudes southern hospitality. On Sundays they have an all you can eat buffet for $8.26. Pork bbq, fried chicken, Mac n cheese, green beans, sweet potatoes, slaw, potato salad, stuffing, hush puppies and quite a few different pies. Between the 2 of us we sampled everything but the chicken. AMAZING. We both kept saying how different items tasted like our grandmother's recipe. So delicious! We found this restaurant on Yelp while driving from FL to VA and stopped in for the Sunday buffet. It is just a few minutes off I-95. We were seated right away and could immediately tell the restaurant was filled with locals which is always a good sign. My husband, teenage daughter and I made our way to the buffet ($8.26/person). After the 2 ladies behind us found out we were from Connecticut, they described all of the buffet dishes for us. Everything was amazing! My daughter has always said my sweet potato casserole is her favorite food but she said she liked the casserole on the buffet better than mine. That is a glowing recommendation! The fried chicken was the best I have ever tasted. We all got seconds of the hush puppies. My husband and daughter both went back for seconds of several things. The banana pudding for dessert was absolutely delicious. Other options were pecan pie, sweet potato pie and lemon meringue pie. As we were finishing our meals, one of the women who helped us earlier stopped by to see if we enjoyed it. Southern hospitality at its finest! A short detour from I-95 took us to this great bbq joint. We were there for the 7.50 lunch buffet which was all the southern-fried, pulled-pork goodness you could hope for south of the mason dixon. The bbq is quite vinegary, but delicious if you go easy on the sauce. For dessert, we had the banana pudding and pecan pie, which were excellent. A great break from the usual highway fair.
