Horrible f**ing service . Like 20 people working and no one helps. I waiting in front of the register and still people walked by.

I was a customer calling and the man that answered literally didn't want to say anything to me so I asked "can I speak to somebody for a minute" and he questioned me rudely so I explained my question. After that he hung up on me while I was thanking him. I called back to ask him his problem and immediately a woman answered and said "Guitar Lessons," this person did not know who could have spoke to me, she put me on hold, I called back and she picked up again right away but this time she was laughing, oh, it turns out that she is the Manager and I could also hear the other guy in the background. I told her that I was hung up on and she laughed more. Do not believe under any condition upon entering this store that the management and workers are not extremely rude, uncaring and insulting. read more

Worst customer service I have. I am ready to buy FULL Dj system today and spend $3000-4000 dollar and nobody say hi to me, I asked for help and nobody help me. Nothing! The staff here are very rude! It was difficult to find someone to help me and after I hunted someone down, they didn't at all seem interested in assisting me. It's quite possible that I was being discriminated against. Do yourself a favor either buy online or go to a smaller music store where they can give you better service! read more

David in the electric guitar department at this location was incredible! He helped me pick out a new Les Paul and he couldn't have been nicer and more patient as I looked at a wide variety of guitars. It's common these days to look around with all inventory on locks and nobody comes around to help or to unlock, or ask if you need help, but this location was great! David was super helpful, knew his stuff, and clearly passionate and an expert about all the different guitars in the shop. Could not have been happier with the purchase and the customer service. As far as I can tell, from the handful of times I've been to this location, just a bunch of airheads for employees. They all just stare at you drooling as you walk into the store as if they were never taught what a social cue is as an employee, only making you feel unnecessary awkwardness. Last time I went in there i was looking for where the capos were, so I went to the counter closest to guitars, & the employee behind it was jamming, proceeding to play an entire song before acknowledging me, then just pointing in the direction (only), after I ask him. Went to the counter closest to the door to checkout, & about 5 employees behind the counter were just chopping it up (probably discussing their circle jerk during break) as I was standing there for like 2 minutes before I had to say something. Guitar Center used to be one of my favorite destinations in San Diego, from testing out all of the beautiful equipment to the friendly staff that seemed more than happy to help, give gear tips and ask about my personal music endeavors. Well, this is no longer the case. I've gone to guitar center twice in the last two months and have called 3 times. Each time it's a gamble of whether I will cross paths with someone who is annoyed by questions about features or their inventory or a manager telling me no more live playing for the last 30 mins in the store (even though I was buying a new bass AND all the fixings). I bought my new bass from Sam Ash where it says under their sign, "Come in & play!". Three stars since they usually have items in stock when I'm in a hurry to add a cable or accessory. I miss the old friendly guitar center where they treated you like a Ma and Pop shop would. Now there is no rapport, no customer service. My business is not a burden, Bro. read more

So I drive 20 minutes to visit this Guitar Center only to be totally ignored by anyone associated with the store despite the fact there is no other customers in the store to be seen. I walk in to what looks to be the drum, percussion area to be further looked at with disdain, I do believe because I am older, and when I had the rudeness to ask the young genius if they only had electric drum kits set up he said "Yes" and that was it.....nothing else...total silence. to which I said "Nice talking with you" and left as quickly as possible. I signed up for my first lessons at Guitar Center. Then a few days later they called me and said it was canceled. The guy on the phone said they wouldn't be any openings for 3 or 4 weeks, so I told him to just refund my money. He said he would leave a message with the manager and they would call me back the next day, they didn't. So I went in to talk to them and the lady at the desk said they don't refund. I told her store credit would be fine, but she refused. I found lessons at another store that are $10 a week cheaper plus they don't charge you a $30 fee to get started like Guitar Center does. The instructors may be fine, (I don't know never had a lesson). It doesn't seem like a good way to do business to me. read more

If you ever want some alone time come to this place. there's people everywhere doing stuff but no one asks you if you need any help. Not one person asked me if I needed any help and I walked through this store entirely. I even walked past the greeter/door guy Twice maybe I just got profiled as a non guitar player. Everyone looked extremely knowledgeable though I'll give them that but looks can be deceiving. I don't know whatever the case maybe I like when people ask if I need any help so I can give you my money. I didn't give them any money cuz nobody asked:) the really funny part about it about 7 years ago when I came here with my cousin it was pretty much the exact same story. I'm not sure what all of the bad reviews are about. Every time I've been to this guitar center I have had a great experience, especially compared to other San Diego locations. I went in with a minimal amount of knowledge of what I needed and immediately, Rudy (I believe was his name) one of the guitar techs helped me out in what I needed. They setup my guitar in a turn around of not even 24 hours and I was able to take it back in after that to get my action re-adjusted right then and there to get the setup exactly how I wanted it. I then went to get a pedalboard which I knew essentially nothing about and a man, who I wish I could remember his name, helped me even amidst a huge rush he was still bouncing back and forth between customers. They really do not cut corners here and they make sure you get exactly what you're looking for. Best guitar center experience I've had in San Diego. It's not the closest to me, but I go out of my way to come to this location! read more

I bought an awesome guitar and everthing that is needed with it amazing place had the most knowledgable employee showing me options and recommended me a better guitar for then one I was planning to get and yet stayed In my budget actualy lower then the price i was originally going to pay. I have gotten 2 guitars here and I have gone with one of my buddies to get him a guitar as well. All 3 times I have went the employees were very helpful and gave you their honest advice. I used to be more of a SamAsh guy but the customer service is far better at this specific guitar center. I"m currently taking both of my kids for lessons at Guitar Center La Mesa with two different teachers (Garrett S. and Mike R.). It's really great that both kids can have their lessons with two different teachers for two different instruments at the same time. The kids love the lessons as their teachers are excellent and help them with the music that they're interested in with enthusiasm and positivity - even when they might not have practiced as much as they were supposed to. The recitals are a fantastic experience. Instead of a series of solo performances, each student gets to opportunity to play in a band as the instructors happily fill in the roles that each student's song needs. I'm really appreciative with the talent and skill the instructors have to give my kids a rock star experience on stage they'll always remember. The lesson area is clean and each room is soundproofed. The instruments and amplifiers in the rooms are of solid quality. The referral program is aggressive and we've referred several of our friends. Several of the other reviewers seem to be commenting about their experience with the salespeople on the showroom floor and that's a whole other thing than the lessons. Great Instructors! Great availability of hours! Great customer service! ALL the people I have encountered on my weekly visits, taking my daughter to her lessons, have been incredibly friendly and so helpful! Guitar Center should be proud of the entire team representing their name! Special shout out to my daughter's voice instructor, Allison, who is sadly leaving at the end of the month. After my unpleasant experience of not being assisted, Conner being off work gladly grabbed me an associate to help when no one else seemed eager enough to help me or at least grab someone to help me. I just want to say that this place went above and beyond my expectations. You have to meet Miles because he was awesome! From beginning to the end he was so helpful--even helping us get my items in the car! This was a trip I've been planning for awhile but life kept getting in the way! Brought in gear to trade in, high end gear mind you, watched them man handle it and treat it like crap. Then they had the audacity to offer me less than $1000 for a $3000 item. Would never step foot in this guitar center again. They will rip you off and laugh all the way to the bank. read more

Would have given a four star but the dude working the front door was a f::King dickhead, very rude and definitely not customer friendly.

it became a regular thing to be called into our lesson late and then end the lesson early. 30 dollars per lesson .. a 30 minute lesson is a dollar a minute. so when 5-15 minutes it taken away from the lesson that is a problem. if they call the student back late then they should keep the student late. maybe because we didnt make a fuss about it in the store it continued to happen. the instructor would be late with the previous student then come out and talk to the other parent sitting next to us about the students progress and finally call my child back for their lesson LATE. and end her lesson at the regular time or even early. the last straw for me was when she came out of the room during the lesson and was talking to a customer at the front desk. and i am just sitting there thinking you are suppose to be in a lesson with my child. i thought surely since she called my daughter back late and came out to get a pencil but ended up talking to a customer for awhile... i thought she would make up the time at the end of the lesson but nope she let her out a few minutes early. even my child said she left her in the room doing nothing for a while and my child said that the instructor would also be on her cell phone during the lesson not paying attention to her. greasy wheel gets the oil. if you are not a complainer they will just take advantage at your expense. they have cameras in the room so you think they would be more careful but i guess nobody really checks those or maybe it just isnt recording. its a shame. we are going to try another instructor or look for another place to take lessons. read more

Very neat and organized but no "hello", "hi" or even "welcome" from any employee. My husband and I walked in and there was an employee standing by the entrance who just stared at us and never said any word. Not even a "thank you from the cashier". I give 1 star bec of cleanliness only. read more
