Mainly, just to get some info before driving over, and double check the hours. 10 minutes before opening, on the phone, the dreaded answer "we don't carry those.". However, over the next 25 minutes, an explanation of who does, where they are, what to expect for the particular piece of equipment, things to consider, the insight of the employee. And, they do rent the equipment. With a fair warning, that they might sell the rental equipement, but since the particluar piece is industrial and well maintained, it'd probably go for MORE than normal places. And it'd be subject to the bosses approval. You have to wish more places would be open, honest, helpful and provide answers to the quality and extent that this place does. A stand up place to do buisness, if there ever was a definition of it. Clearly a tribute to it's many years of existance!

Prior to meeting Pandeli, I had no voice training and had a hard time singing simple songs. Pandeli has such an intuition and amazing understanding of the mechanics of the voice that we made great progress in 8 months. My voice has completely transformed during this 8 month time that now I can sing high difficulty sings (Michael Bolten, Bruno Mars, etc.) songs without hurting my voice, with precision, and with an endurance I could never imagine. The experience here at Harper's Music Store was different however. It's been years since I've been here- last time I was here, I recall getting a synthetic reed for my baritone sax. The owner, Steve, greeted me as I walked through the door and asked me what my needs were. I told him I was looking for a beginner AMP and first showed me some small, cheap options. I then asked him that I wanted something with a little more features to it and then showed me a Marshall MG30FX and a Spider IV Line 6 75 W. I decided to go with the Line 6 as the presets and customizability of the AMP was what persuaded me in buying it. I'm not sure if he works here too but Michael helped me in further solidifying my purchase of the Spider AMP over the Marshall because of the same reasons, so thank you to you too Michael! Purchasing my Fender Starcaster here was a breeze- I traded in a guitar for the Starcaster and that process was very straight forward- just show your ID and Steve'll take a look online to see how much it is priced and give you a fair offer like he did with me. Overall, if you're looking for musical needs, going to Harper's Music Store is a great idea. The customer service let alone is really what knocks this place out of the park. I'll be coming here again if I need anything else.

I called them about it and after several months they finally paid me back. Then a couple years later I noticed that they were doing the same thing again. I called several times and spoke with Gentry. He said he'd look into it and he never did. I went in person to the store and he said the same thing and he never did. I read some other reviews that said this same thing before I chose the store and didn't believe the other reviewers. I am telling you first hand, its true. If you rent from them, check your credit card statement every month, but better yet, rent from a different store. I am about to rent another instrument for my younger child and even if I have to drive an hour, I'll do it to find a reputable place that doesn't steal.

Or sometimes I just feel like getting a guitar set up after years of it sitting in the closet. I take my gear here every time. And without fail, they repair everything quickly, professionally and very reasonably priced. Accessories? They got 'em. Strings, picks, cables, pedals. You name it. I've met both owners, each with their own personalities, and I always found them to be professional. I wouldn't be returning often if they were anything less. Guitar Center isn't far, but these guys do such great work that I couldn't dare to go anywhere else.
