I really appreciate the staff at Lancaster Guitar Center in Manor shopping center. I've worked with them for over 20 years since they first opened, and it's been quite a journey. In 2025 the staff is still very helpful and friendly. Adam helped me file a claim for a fairly expensive item that I purchased two years ago with three year replacement coverage through Guitar Center. We filed a claim on the Phone, and he even helped me with completing the information by sending a screenshot of the invoice. Great people, great service, and great products. Lancaster shipped it without power tubes, couldn't locate the original Mesa Boogie tubes then sent me a set of aftermarket Groove Tubes a month later with zero follow up. I took multiple guitars of mine to Jake the guitar tech and I can honestly say I could not be happier with my experience. I'm very picky about how my Gibson Les Paul is set up. It was very comforting to have a guitar tech have the patience to hand me the guitar after he has it set up and ask if I wanted and changes. In between tours, I'll make sure the rest of my collection gets the "Jake" treatment. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Talked on the phone with an associate yesterday about some questions regarding an electric piano. He was very helpful. I told him that I would definitely be in that night. Walked into the store - two associates talking at the front counter... not one "hi" not one acknowledgement that I walked into their store. I don't know what they were doing, but obviously not in a hurry to help anyone. Then I walked through the store looking for the pianos, walked passed one associate, made no eye contact with me and kept walking. I didn't say a word because I was trying to see if he would ask me if I needed assistance. Nothing. I went back to the piano area, and must have sat/stood at 5-6 consoles, not one person asked if they could help me. I was in the piano room over 10 minutes (at least). One associate was "helping" someone look at a cheap speaker which wasn't even close to a possible piano sale they could have made. Then the associate "tested" a song for the client (who apparently was into Rap). The song had every obscenity possible on the song (not that I offend easily) but there was a kid in the back room playing drums and another with his mom. Seriously, this place is a joke and a circus. Two other associates just walking the floor (maybe doing research for customers), but not one person offered assistance. There were at least 5 customer service reps on-duty. Won't ever be back. Won't ever recommend this place to ANYONE. I ordered what I wanted on Amazon when it was all said and done (a top-of-the line Yamaha keyboard, which they couldn't be bothered to assist me with). Cannot wait to receive my keyboard and have it delivered in half the time I could have had assistance at this store. SMH. read more

We've had nothing but excellent and helpful service experiences at this location for the past three years, and since it looks like it's been a while since the store was reviewed, I thought I'd share a more up-to-date perspective! I first used this location to buy things like strings, then came here for some guitar repairs (electric and an acoustic), and last year bought a new Taylor acoustic here. All of these processes have gone smoothly. The staff is happy to let you test the equipment in-house and answer any questions you might have -- they were thorough and good communicators, especially when I ordered my Taylor. My experience was positive enough that when my 10-year-old daughter decided she wanted to learn how to play drums, this was the first place I thought of -- and thankfully, they had just started taking students. There's a big area of insulated sound rooms on the left when you walk in, and they offer drums, guitar, bass, piano/keyboard, as well as vocal lessons. They hold open houses so that those who are interested in checking it out can come meet the instructors, tour the facility, and try out some instruments. I'm constantly impressed by their clientele -- both young, new students like my daughter, as well as more mature and experienced players like myself -- and everything in between. My daughter has been taking drum lessons here for over a year now and she and I both absolutely love it. Her instructor, Jeff, is incredible -- he's patient, upbeat, and funny and keeps her engaged whether they're working through the necessary fundamentals or learning a fun new song. I appreciate that he's able to keep her on task and gives me honest feedback about how she's doing and what else we can do to support her growth. My daughter appreciates his encouragement and I've noticed a big difference in her confidence level thanks to Jeff's support. There are frequent off-site "recitals" held by the Guitar Center staff so the students have a chance to perform and show off what they've learned for friends and family. Despite her shyness, my daughter has performed at two of these recitals thanks to Jeff's encouragement. At the first performance, I was sure her nerves would prevent her from going onstage, but after spending a few minutes with Jeff, she pulled it together. He was on stage with her for that first performance, taking a seat beside the drum kit and giving her pointers on how to ignore the crowd. He offered to do the same at her second recital, but she chose instead to take the stage alone. It was a BIG moment for her, and we were both grateful to Jeff for helping her get there. Brian, who somehow manages to act as chief lesson scheduler, event coordinator (for open houses and recitals), AND guitar instructor, is a fantastic communicator and does his best to accommodate all kinds of crazy schedules. I was especially grateful over the summer months, when weekend trips and vacations kept us shifting lessons frequently. He's also been encouraging and does an excellent job taking an interest in the students and their families so that everyone feels welcome whether they're just in the store for a lesson or at one of these events. His efforts go a long way toward building a little musical community for those of us who bring our kids in for lessons. So, whether you're just looking for a place to sample equipment and instruments, or take your musical knowledge to the next level, I highly recommend you stop by this Guitar Center and meet the team for yourself. read more

I am a fan of Guitar Center in general however this store is kind of meh. The staff in the store is knowledgeable and helpful but the size of the store is very small and the selection is pretty poor for a Guitar Center. Prices in the store are a bit on the steep side, especially on the used items and it reflects in how long merchandise such as guitars stay on the rack. There are some used guitars that are so poorly priced that they have been in store for six months, something that is very telling in a retail establishment. The selection of amplifiers is also very limited. Finding a decent tube amp to try a guitar out on is limited to either a Vox AC15 or a Vox Night Train. Bass Amp selection is paltry as well. I wish this store had a better mix of product and perhaps it will expand with the holidays almost upon us. Good staff with poor selection translates to poor sales from my experience. read more

I took my classical guitar in to get restringed. When I tracked down an employee down after 10 minutes I was kept waiting another ten minutes to find paperwork - no idea why. Picked my guitar up a few days later, and the bill was $60: $25 for restring, $35 for "repairs." I specifically requested when I brought my guitar in that I wanted to be notified of necessary repairs BEFORE they were done, because I was not born yesterday. The incompetent employee doesn't believe me, but finally agrees to call his manager. I wait 15 minutes, because the manager is in a "conference call." Apparently nothing can get done without this mysterious manager. They finally talk on the phone, and realize that I was given the "wrong" bill. Oops. I wonder how often that happens. Oh, and my guitar won't stay in tune now. These people are incompetent at best, dishonest at worst. Avoid. read more

Drove 50 miles to check these guys out. First sales rep was helpful and matched a price on a Taylor guitar for me. He was getting off work, and handed me over to another rep, who promptly gave me the used car salesman treatment. I ended up walking away. Their customer service is HORRIBLE. Other guitar centers have non-existent customer service, which comparatively would be an UPGRADED experience. Folks, most of us work hard for our money. My daughter needed a new guitar so we visited this location so she could see a PRS. We were greeted immediately and were shown the two that were in stock on the wall. The man who helped us (sorry don't remember name) continuously checked back with my daughter to see how she was doing as she was trying them out and answered all her questions. After she decided she did like the style, she asked about a particular one she had seen on line. He took her to the register so they could check availability and look into ordering and saw that it looked like one had come into the store, but hadn't been put out yet. It took a little while of searching the back room (the only minor negative) , but they did have it and we were able to walk out the store with guitar in hand. Our salesperson was nothing but helpful and we had a great experience. read more

This location is a joke. Jordan the general manager lies to your face and doesn't do what corporate tells him too. The staff is unknowledgeable of any pro audio or high end gear which this store is severely lacking. Only thing to see here is incompetence and a wall of overpriced low end guitars. Go to guitar center Harrisburg or a real music store called Sam ash with actual professionals that know their stuff and carry real gear. Guitar center Lancaster isn't worth buying strings from. Give your business to drums etc, or even menchy (groan) over this poor excuse of a music store read more

DO NOT get your guitar repaired or serviced by anyone who works in The Guitar Center! I took my Jackson JS32 in to be set up, new strings put on and the Floyd Rose tremolo fixed. Two days later I got a call from the guitar tech told me that a part on the bridge needed to be replaced and they had to order the part from through the mail. Ok, fair enough. I didn't hear a thing for eight days so I called the shop and they said it was still in the mail. Finally, two weeks to the day the guitar tech calls me and said the part came in and my guitar was ready. C'mon man- two weeks to set up an electric guitar?? When I went in to pay for it, the dude told me to swipe my debit card twice...because he claimed the first swipe didn't go through. Well, I checked with my bank later and Guitar Center charged me over $145! I had to make a "claim" with my bank just to get the money back. Awful Experience. read more

I needed to file a claim on an instrument that was damaged. I was worried, especially since I needed them to look up my account, find the purchase, and it was a month before the protection plan expired. When I called today, two different people tried to find the receipt and failed. I went in tonight, was helped quickly; my purchase record was located, a receipt printed, and I was even shown an item that I asked about, which I ended up buying on the spot. I then called the protection plan division, was on the phone for 3 minutes, and will have a replacement on its way in about 2 weeks! read more

Staff had no clue about the products they were selling . They were easily distracted and lacked in every category . The used guitar and bass inventory only had 15 or so instruments and the amps weren't any better . They had a very small selection and were NO competition for independent shops with far less buying power in a 65 mile radius . I would recommend west Chester music store on high street in west Chester or roxy music in Philadelphia over this shop any day of the week . I was incredibly disappointed with every aspect of the experience and don't plan to visit any of their other stores as a result . And the staff was talking trash about some poor kid who obviously was a beginner loud enough you could hear them and he seemed visibly discouraged . I didn't bother talking to the frat boy wannabe staff and told the kid he sounded fine and to just keep practicing his chops and there will always be haters . Even Nickleback has fans ! I have never been to this store before yesterday. I was price shopping for an item, but none of the 3 people standing around even acknowledged I was in the store. Finding the item expensive, I decided to just leave and try finding it elsewhere. After leaving a bad customer service experience finding the item today, I decided to bite the bullet, go back to Guitar Center and just pay more for what I wanted. I went in today for the 2nd time, and was again not acknowledged by the staff. The 3 staff members were standing around listening to someone on a guitar. Another customer who wasn't being helped was standing next to them waiting to be helped as well. At this point I was triggered! Apparently the staff didn't think my business was important enough to even say hello. It's sad that retail establishments like this don't understand that customer service is what keeps people coming through the door instead of ordering online for less cost. As a result of the lack of service, I'm now ordering my item online for less money. I'm definitely not going back. read more
