I'm local to the area and use Tone Tailor often but not as much as I wish I could. There have been…read moremixed reviews on the personnel at the store but my experience has been they have always been friendly, and helpful. This is the chance that if you come in at off hours they are working on equipment and maybe focused on that. They are a smaller operations so the owner wears a number of hats. The hardware at the store has been commented on and for a smaller shop I think they have a great selection. On aspect not commented on was the lessons. The instructors they have on board know what they are doing and can work with everyone from the beginner thru advanced students. These aren't guys who yesterday were giving lessons out of the back of their Mom's apartment but rather are mainly gigging musicians who are augmenting their income via lessons. Most have formal educations in their trade. Final comment is on their repair services. They have in store ability to repair most equipment - none of this drop off you gear only to later find out it was shipped out somewhere to be worked on. You can get real time feedback on where it is at in the repair process. Only slight draw back is they are in demand so they may not be able to turn it around over night. Tone Tailors is the kind of store you'll want to go back to. It's interesting to see the musicians who just hang out there discussing the local music scene.

Good repair department. Decent selections of guitar gear. Looking forward to their move back to…read moredowntown Lancaster, because getting through Lititz to the Rock Lititz campus is often a hassle.

Congressional Piano Movers

Our experience with Congressional Piano Movers was fantastic. Their secretary is great and getting…read morea moving quote only takes a minute or two over the phone. No long hold menus or voicemails. A real person answers the phone! We hired them to move an old upright piano and ended up asking them to move an antique secretary as well. These guys are pros! The had the piano out of the house in 2 minutes flat. They bring all the right equipment; dollies, ramps, blankets, straps. The antique secretary they moved had a hand blown curved glass front so they had to be a little creative about how they secured it in the truck. The movers were polite and helpful. Everything arrived intact and unharmed. The only downside is that you can not confirm a 2 hour window for a Saturday move until Friday evening. I think they do this because they have to arrange the moves to make sense geographically. It is a little bit of a scheduling pain but it is worth it for their superior service.

I have used Congressional Piano movers three times now. I hesitate to give a poor review to a small…read morebusiness, but if you choose to use this company, you should be aware that the scheduling/booking process is extremely poorly managed and unreliable. The movers themselves are excellent and competent, and have moved my upright piano in and out of some very tricky spaces (with stairs and sharp turns). So if you have a tough move, they will most likely be able to do it. However. Two out of the three times I have booked with them there has been a major mix-up with my booking. The first time, I called weeks in advance and booked a date. I asked for an email confirmation but never received one. I called a week out to confirm, and found that they had completely lost my reservation. They could not come on the day I booked, which caused a big issue with moving out of an apartment. I chose to use them again the next time I moved, because I know the movers do their jobs well. (I now feel that this was a mistake). This most recent time, after I had made it clear in my booking that it needed to be after noon because of my work schedule, I was essentially guilt-tripped into moving my time slot to very early in the morning, because they had managed their own schedule poorly. When I booked initially, it also took several emails and phone calls to get a confirmation email from them, which I had hoped would guarantee that they didn't try to change my time. Obviously that didn't work. I want to support these folks as a family-run business. But I will never book with them again after the stress and hassle it requires every single time. Update - And this is fun, even though my piano move was on December 11, they have only just now charged my card for the several hundred dollar charge, on December 21. When I paid, I had to read my credit card number over the phone to someone. So I guess my credit card number has been sitting, written down on a piece of paper in their office, for 10 days. And they only just now remembered to charge it, with no notice. Extremely unprofessional.
