I have used Congressional Piano movers three times now. I hesitate to give a poor review to a small business, but if you choose to use this company, you should be aware that the scheduling/booking process is extremely poorly managed and unreliable. The movers themselves are excellent and competent, and have moved my upright piano in and out of some very tricky spaces (with stairs and sharp turns). So if you have a tough move, they will most likely be able to do it. However. Two out of the three times I have booked with them there has been a major mix-up with my booking. The first time, I called weeks in advance and booked a date. I asked for an email confirmation but never received one. I called a week out to confirm, and found that they had completely lost my reservation. They could not come on the day I booked, which caused a big issue with moving out of an apartment. I chose to use them again the next time I moved, because I know the movers do their jobs well. (I now feel that this was a mistake). This most recent time, after I had made it clear in my booking that it needed to be after noon because of my work schedule, I was essentially guilt-tripped into moving my time slot to very early in the morning, because they had managed their own schedule poorly. When I booked initially, it also took several emails and phone calls to get a confirmation email from them, which I had hoped would guarantee that they didn't try to change my time. Obviously that didn't work. I want to support these folks as a family-run business. But I will never book with them again after the stress and hassle it requires every single time. Update - And this is fun, even though my piano move was on December 11, they have only just now charged my card for the several hundred dollar charge, on December 21. When I paid, I had to read my credit card number over the phone to someone. So I guess my credit card number has been sitting, written down on a piece of paper in their office, for 10 days. And they only just now remembered to charge it, with no notice. Extremely unprofessional. read more

We bought a home in Northwest DC and made the mistake of letting the sellers leave an old Knabe grand piano in the living room. It was not worth the expense to repair it and the resale value was minimal. We just wanted the piano gone asap! We received a recommendation for Congressional Piano Movers. Exceptional service from start to finish. Spoke with receptionist via phone who was helpful. They were able to come pick up the piano within 2 days. They gave a two hour time window for pickup and were right on time. They took extra care in making sure that there was no incidental damage to our home/property. I called on a Wednesday to schedule a piano move (to my next door neighbor). The lady was very nice and gave me a reasonable quote. We scheduled the move for the following Saturday. She said someone would call Friday to give me a time frame when they would arrive. I gave her my number and the number of my neighbor where the piano was going. They never called on Friday. I called Friday and several times on Saturday since they didn't show up. I have yet to hear from them. read more

Our experience with Congressional Piano Movers was fantastic. Their secretary is great and getting a moving quote only takes a minute or two over the phone. No long hold menus or voicemails. A real person answers the phone! We hired them to move an old upright piano and ended up asking them to move an antique secretary as well. These guys are pros! The had the piano out of the house in 2 minutes flat. They bring all the right equipment; dollies, ramps, blankets, straps. The antique secretary they moved had a hand blown curved glass front so they had to be a little creative about how they secured it in the truck. The movers were polite and helpful. Everything arrived intact and unharmed. The only downside is that you can not confirm a 2 hour window for a Saturday move until Friday evening. I think they do this because they have to arrange the moves to make sense geographically. It is a little bit of a scheduling pain but it is worth it for their superior service. read more

Congressional Piano Movers did the most efficient and excellent job moving our piano into our townhouse. Since our stair wells are spiral, the piano would not fit up to the middle level by the stairs. Congressional hired company and rented a hoist to lift the piano up one story to a doorway into our family room. The Congressional team arrived with the piano so well protected and hoisted the piano up, assembled the piano and moved it into place! No mishaps. The movers were so professional and pleasant. I cannot recommend Congressional Piano Movers highly enough! I have moved 3 times with them over 7 years (2014-2021) and experienced their professionalism and extreme care on 5 of the 6 ends of pickup/delivery (the 6th was a store pickup and I was not present but my new piano arrived in pristine condition!). Two of my pianos are large, abnormally heavy grand pianos and the other is a console piano. Bill (the owner) and the 2 movers accompanying him did an exceptional job, even in a few very difficult circumstances (big pianos-small spaces, and an already damaged piano- repaired on the spot to make the move easier, which thrilled me). They were efficient, careful, polite and accommodating, and did absolutely no damage to pianos or premises. I really enjoyed conversing with them and learned some helpful piano information each time actually. Communication was excellent from the first call to the reminder calls just before pickup and delivery each time. I did have to leave a message a few times and follow up with a call a bit later, but I didn't allow for much call-back time and they are worth calling back. I own a piano studio and confidently tell everyone who asks that Congressional is the ONLY moving company to trust with such precious cargo. I also find their rates to be incredibly reasonable... I imagine that is because they ONLY move pianos, therefore they have the process down to a science/art and don't waste time! read more

I bought my first piano (an upright) to fulfill a childhood dream of learning to play. I started taking lessons at age 70 after retiring using an electric keyboard and realized that I really wanted a real piano. But I was concerned that it would be impossible to get a piano into the room upstairs that I use as my music room. I bought my dream piano last week and today was the day it was delivered. Congressional Piano Movers arrived on time and came in to plan the best way to get the piano upstairs. But after looking at the layout of my house which involved bringing the piano up 2 sets of stairs both of which have a wall directly in front of the top of the stairs, the movers were uncertain that it was going to be possible. But knowing how much I was wishing for my own piano in my own music room, they decided on a plan and moved forward to give it a try. It was a big challenge and took over an hour but they stuck with it and wrestled it up the 2 flights of stairs and somehow got it around both walls and placed it exactly where i wanted it. These guys are miracle workers. And in addition, they were very careful with the piano and with my walls and both survived with no casualties. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a piano moved. Oh and they are nice guys too and fun to talk to. Way to go, Congressional Piano Movers!!! read more

My experience with Congressional Piano Mover was not so good. They were nice when I first call them, but they never returned my calls, and I had to keep calling them. I provided some time slots for the moving and was told they will check with movers and got back to me. They NEVER DID. Luckily, I found another mover before the moving day, and did even bother to tell Congressional Mover that, Caz they don't seem to care about their biz. read more

I was able to get a quote quickly and easily over the phone, and the lady I spoke with was very helpful and personable. I called a lot of movers for quotes on moving a baby grand piano, and the price Congressional Piano Movers quoted me was very reasonable. They were also able to schedule a move in only a couple of days which was a great help since I was getting the piano from someone who was moving and needed it out quickly. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the owner himself was one of the men who came to actually move the piano. I am so glad I found this company- I highly recommend them to anyone.
