Great location if you're visiting Bellingham or nearby areas. You're right off I-5, so you're in and out pretty quickly. It's a 15 min walk from downtown, but we didn't run into any problems with parking in downtown Bellingham. There are plenty of parking spots at GuestHouse. Woods coffee is in the same lot, so it was nice immediately going through their drive through for good coffee. Fred Meyer is immediately across the street so if you forgot anything at home, or need something, it's a quick purchase. The staff was nice and check in and out was smooth and easy. The rooms were cleaned and more modern than the lobby and hallways. It's a dog friendly hotel and we were right next to the exit, so it was nice getting our dog in and out for the bathroom. The shower head could be better. The room felt a bit humid. There was free breakfast in the morning, it's limited breakfast, but it has the basics-- coffee, cereal, waffle, bread, yogurt. You can't take the breakfast food to your room though. read more

Despite the negative reviews, we decided to go and see the hotel -- and were very pleasantly surprised! It is freshly renovated and felt more like a nice hotel than a motel. We were in a second floor room with one King bed and the room was so well-appointed with tasteful modern furnishings, USB outlets for each nightstand, feather down pillows, and immaculate beddings. Neutrogena toiletries were provided as well. The service was super friendly and accommodating, and the free breakfast is better than average. Everyone on staff was so genuinely nice! Steven gets special mention for being so patient and welcoming! The location is also great, with Woods coffee (although the hotel serves Whidbey Island coffee during breakfast) just outside the door and a shopping center complete with Fred Meyer just across the road. Definitely highly recommend this place -- great location, great staff, great room, great amenities, and the breakfast is a nice bonus! read more

Only gripes were the beds were not on the frames correctly for both beds in the room and the beds tilted when you rolled to either side. The hair dryer didn't work. I would be aware of staying here if you don't want to get falsely accused of damaging the room. My family stayed here last weekend, two days after we got a damage charge. My father called to inquire and the hotel staff said it was due to smoking in the room even though no one in my family smokes, and then they changed their reason to say that the comforter got cut and torn. We have asked them to provide evidence and they have not yet. The hotel staff, Sonya, blatantly accused my family without proof. We took it up to the credit card company, however, if you are looking for a place to stay, you are better off staying elsewhere to avoid this kind of trouble. read more

This place is a complete dive. We live in Vancouver and have stayed here dozens of times over the last several years, mainly because it's walking distance to downtown. But it's a total trash hole - crappy wooden frame building with bouncy, noisy floors, and located right next to the interstate so you hear the constant whir of traffic day and night. The interior looks like it was last renovated 30 years ago, with worn linens, gross pillows, and chipped, broken furniture. This hotel used to be better, but has really gone downhill over the last five years. The front desk staff now refuses to accommodate any early check-ins, and makes customers wait until 3pm even on quiet weekdays when clearly there are clean, unused rooms. They try to blame this on not having clean rooms until 3, but clearly housekeeping finishes some rooms before others, so there must be availability before 3. Additionally, this has happened to us consistently for the last few years, and is clearly a just an unaccommodating hotel policy. Jerks. The "breakfast" that they advertise basically doesn't exist anymore. They used to have ingredients for making breakfast sandwiches (English muffins, sausage patties, shitty processed frozen eggs), but now it's just a waffle maker, some crappy bread for making toast, and some wretched coffee which I dumped out before even taking a sip. The clientele appears to be a strange mix of people on long-distance moves, some normal people, and what seem to be drug addicts, prostitutes, pimps, and other homeless-type people living in hotel to hotel. Someone damaged my car in the parking lot once, I called the police and fuked a report, but the hotel refused to give them the video footage. Classy. There are much better alternatives in town, and this will probably be our last stay here read more

The Guest House is in the process of a renovation & is replacing room furniture with built in furnishings with usb charging stations. We stayed one night in December. Our room was very basic with a king bed & build in furnishings, very clean & the bed was super comfy! We requested a room away from the freeway per a previous tip in reviews. After checking out we walked across the parking lot to Woods Coffee Shop for breakfast sandwiches & coffee to go for our drive home! I spent less than 12 hours in this dive and that was more than enough. I didn't go here expecting a luxury experience, but I did expect a habitable room. I stayed (or rather, intended to stay) in a double room with my mom for a few nights to visit family. First impressions were underwhelming: derelict elevator, tiny bathroom, hardly any free electrical outlets, a TV with noticeable dead pixels and a broken remote. However, it got worse. In the early morning as I was getting out of the shower I heard my mom scream. When I returned to the main room it was easy to see why: she had torn the comforter off her bed to reveal bugs crawling around in the sheets. I checked the other bed and discovered several more in the pillows. To our horror it dawned on us that the room was infested with bed bugs. After taking a few moments to marinate in the shock, we made an executive decision that there was no f**king way could we stay the rest of the night at this place, collected our things and embarked on an impromptu search for another hotel at 3:30 in the morning. The one vaguely positive thing I can say is that the attendant at the front desk was apologetic and accommodating when we requested a refund on our way out, though she did not seem surprised to hear the reason, which is sort of its own indictment of the standards here. If putting your vacation on hold to buy trash bags and Raid to decontaminate your luggage before you return home sounds like a good time to you, look no further than InfestHouse. If you're a normal person, invest a few extra dollars to stay somewhere that has pride in maintaining a clean environment for its guests. read more

The property was fine. However - the manager sonia is not only a liar, but insanely unprofessional. The morning of my checkout, i called the front desk and spoke to sonia, and inquired about checking out a bit later than 11 as i was beat and having a hard time getting moving. I made a joke about being "over 30 and should have known better" and she laughed, and told me it was no problem as long as I was checked out by 1pm that she would give me late checkout complimentary. If I was later than 1pm, it would be a $33 fee. I said thats fine, I had told her i probably didnt need that long, and thanked her sincerely. I got ready, packed and was at the desk by 1230 at the LATEST. I even stopped by the desk to return the keys and introduced myself and thanked her again, said how much I appreciated the kindness etc. So later that evening, I'm home and checked my credit card and guess who charged me $33.00 for late checkout? I called and spoke with someone who told me I had to speak to Sonia and she could reverse it and that it was likely just a mistake. So I just got off the phone and she stated "she specifically remembers me, and that she told me that it was free until noon, but she would charge me $30 for a 1pm checkout - and that I TOLD HER IT WAS OKAY TO CHARGE MY CARD FOR IT. This NEVER happened. When I disagreed, she said it was "possible there was a misunderstanding" - however she refused to issue me a refund and blamed the owners, telling me she couldn't refund it because it's already charged? What business cannot give a refund? She also flatly refused to give me any information so I could speak with the owners, and basically just grinned as she told me "so sad too bad". I have already contacted my bank for a charge back, and I'm so pissed about the blaightent lying and gaslighting that I'm now leaving reviews anywhere I can. If the owners read this, you can contact me and refund me and I will gladly edit this, and the Expedia and Google reviews to reflect that - but Sonia is absolutely full of it. read more

The front desk girl was rude to my husband. Our daughter really had to use the bathroom and she was denied a restroom even though we were checking in. Bed was broken so it made lots of noise when you would move around. Not enough bath towels. There was not lock on the window and we were on the bottom floor where someone who could easily break in. The food for breakfast was horrible. We chose this hotel because it had a pool/spa for our child but was never told when we reserved the room that it was not open due to maintenance. That would have been a common curtesy. We did not know that there was a $150 holding fee as well until we checked in. They said that once we checked out it would be released and back in our bank. This was a pretty bad experience. We partially live in Bellingham in summer for my boyfriends job, so we stay in hotels a lot. Paritcally this one. It just keeps getting worse. When I checked into room, there was hair all over the bed ( human and dog). I asked to change sheets, she just changed room. The new room was worse. One towel in bathroom that looked used , bed was near collapsed and the bathroom floor dirty. I then asked if I can go back to other room and just get clean sheets. Back in first room now... and the table chairs are so covered in stains you wouldn't even throw your coat down. But that doesn't matter , since you can't even sit in them.... The seat is broken. Hair dryer is completely broke to the point of a fire hazard. Switch and shell broke in half We notified desk and they allegedly told maintenance. It's been 8 hours and no sign of them. Oh well. I seriously woke up feeling dirty in this place. We are mountain people and actually pretty low maintenance. I'm the type of person who doesn't care to sleep on the floor at an airport... So for us to be disgusted here is pretty bad. Sometimes we stay at Coachman. It's about the same price , not fancy but at least cleaner. Seriously , spend the extra $20 and get a better place. My stay at the Guesthouse Bellingham fulfilled my expectations. The manager, Sonya, was especially helpful with booking when I had to change my plans at the last minute. At my request, she also gave me a very quiet room. The room was up-to-date, clean and well appointed. The motel served breakfast every day starting at 6 am. The other staff I met were friendly and helpful. One thing to be aware of is that this motel rents rooms by the week or month, and those long-term tenants appear to live on the first floor. The smell, reminiscent of homeless people, was sometimes off-putting, but the staff did their best to deal with it by spraying air freshener and keeping the hall clean. Otherwise, there were no problems. I will definitely return here for my next visit to Bellingham. read more

I arrived here in Bellingham soon after running a no frills trail half marathon near Bonney Lake on Saturday, 09/26/2015. The traffic was kind of horrible on the I-405 northbound, since it was a couple of days before installing the new toll things. The Guesthouse Inn in Bellingham was more of a hotel than a motel, although some can disagree on that. I thought that it was a nice hotel property with a lot of spunk and potential, which already does good things. I arrived here around 6pm to check in after visiting the Bellingham Bay marathon & half marathon expo at the Best Western hotel, which was basically across the street from my hotel and getting a quick dinner at Subway also. First impressions when I pulled into the parking lot was that, this is a pretty good place and glad that I found this place. It was generally a cheaper option for me and about a mile from the Bellingham Bay marathon finish line. There was good parking spots near the entrance, so there wasn't a lack of it, just need to get there during non peak times for the prime spots as close to the lobby entrance as you possibly can. The Bellingham Guesthouse Inn here is located at 805 Lakeway Drive / I-5. The lobby here was quite picturesque and definitely better at some name brand hotels I've stayed at previously. They accept the major credit cards, which is usually industry standard, along with your state issued identification card aka driver's license. In Bellingham, there is a plethora of restaurant options nearby, so chances are you have a car or a rental, so explore if you can, since downtown Bellingham and the vicinity is a pretty cool place to be. Average price per night I found was under $100/night, which is great for a budget conscious traveler like myself. I found my stay to be a pretty good one and the check in service to be good, fast, quite expedient, and with a smile. Always good with a smile. The room I got was room 226 and there was ice machines on the 2nd floor, as well as the lobby. There is an elevator as well as stairs, if you choose. The room itself was decent large enough, with a king bed and a large screen television. It was clean and organized. Just the typical set up for your hotel room, with the toilet and shower tub set up next to the door. The air condition was decent and worked okay. The wifi was strong at some points, but sucked ass at other times, when I wanted it to be fast. The bed was quite comfortable and it was nice to just eat in bed while watching tv after a morning running 13.1 miles at the Bellingham Bay half marathon and walking 2 miles (1 mile to and 1 mile from Railroad Avenue). Managed to get in decent amount of sleep before venturing back to Seattle for the flight home after 2 nights here. The check out process was nice and brief. I managed to get up early and seriously load up on the continental breakfast spread they had and it was kind of nice to be here instead of commuting to work. Traffic going into Seattle sucked ass on the I-5, but what can you do. Overall, the Bellingham Guesthouse Inn was a good choice, both logistically and financially, for this return trip to Bellingham. Best bet would be to stay here on your way to Vancouver, BC or Seattle, or anywhere else you may be headed. I enjoyed myself and hope you will too on your trip to Bellingham. Support local! Well looking at reviews, I guess I am not going to tell you anything that hasn't probably been said before: this place sucks. First, that breakfast included in the price is a lie, which is a real drag because that is why I booked it. They say that they aren't serving breakfast because of Covid, but they are still advertising a free breakfast to get you in the door. NO! That sucks! Heck, there isn't even the usual pot of horrible hotel coffee in the lobby. Wha????? I mean even the worst hotel will have that humble offering to adults who feel the necessity to drink coffee hourly. There is a small coffee maker in the room with ONE little coffee pillow/sachet/thingy to make the equivalent of half a cup of tea-like coffee substance. When I asked for more, the desk person threw them on the front counter and retreated back to some unknown cave of despair (because it must suck to work here). On that note, actually, let me back up and say that the young man who checked me in was very kind and helpful; I hope he is going to college and someday has a wonderful job NOT in a hopeless pathetic like this. For the record, all I can say on the good side is that it was reasonably quiet. The price was extremely reasonable, but at this point, I am really, really regretting not paying more. Lastly, if cleanliness is next to Godliness, this place is definitely purgatory. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. read more

I called at 9pm to reserve a room for the same night. I spoke with Nancy. I gave my name and credit card number and was assured a room for $85/night + tax. When I arrived at 4am after 6 hours of driving, I was told they would not check me in because it was past 3am. Why would that even matter? So now I am sleeping in my car. The man at the desk was incredibly unhelpful and condescending. Nancy was friendly when I called, but gave no information whatsoever about check-in time when I reserved my room over the phone, otherwise I would not have pulled over to sleep for an hour on my way here. This will be short. We stayed here due to attending a football tournament close by. The rates where great and feedback ok. Since it's only two night I felt it couldn't be bad. We checked in and after being on the road for a few hours the hubby had to use the restroom after asking the desk clerk about that we were told there is no lobby bathroom . Ok.... now forced to hold it or use a bush we complete check in. Located on the top floor we just bring up our bags cause we still needed to eat. It was about 8pm. Unload and leave... after eating we come back and try to get settled in only to find long black single stands of hair on each bed strategically placed in the middle of each bed. Instead of tripping I remove them and think about laying down. Then my eye notices dirt scuffs on one bed and after moving pillows more black hair. By this time I am absolutely exhausted so instead of complaining and waiting for someone to come and clean the room like it should have been done. We just ride it out and sleep on top of the sheets. In the morning I let the young lady know at the counter what happened and we would like our room cleaned. Clean sheets, new lotions etc. by the time we returned to the room around 8pm it was done. I'm glad they came thought but I will most likely not stay here again. read more

The room was very large, we were excited at first. That was short lived. They had a nice work desk to set up your laptop and get some business taken care of, except they set the microwave on it, instead of on the shelving unit that had the fridge, and was designed for it. I imagine this was due to lack of outlets in the room which was highlighted by wires being nailed to the trim all the way around the room. Some of these nails were popped out and laying on the floor to be stepped on. The pull out couch was purple and dusty. The cushions were so worn down, it was as if they got it from the good will many years ago. Inside the "guide book" was covered in lovely inscriptions from past guests, highlighting their love for gunZ. The bed was decently comfortable though, I will say that. The hotel is right next to the I-5 exit ramp, so you will have traffic noise all night long if you are on that side. I looked out the window in the morning at 7:30 and saw a lovely man peeing in the bushes in the corner. A+ View! The breakfast was one of the weirdest things I have seen. They did have a waffle maker though, so if that's all you want, you're good. However, on the drink dispenser was "Lemoanade" and on the counter in a plastic container were sausage patties and egg patty things. Both cold, the sausage was visibly just taken out of the freezer. These were just sitting there. Not cooked, not in a hot try, not even with a sign saying "Cook these in the microwave for X amount of minutes." A few months ago I stayed in a hotel where the elevator inspection was expired for more than 2 years, so I always check those now. The hotel here expired June 1st. So it had only been expired for a week when we stayed there, so not really worried about it, but in a hotel where nothing is right, that just shows they don't care. read more

We got charged $100 two days after we checked out. I was told it's smoke cleaning fee in first call (none of us smoke) and their staff asked me to reach Sonya next morning for resolution. In the second call Sonya said they have a picture of comforter got cut and insisted that we did the damage. My family stayed there are all with excellent credit records and honest with full integrity. No way for us to be scammed and insulted like this so I already disputed their charge through my credit card company. This is the first time ever we got falsely accused and wrongly charged by a hotel with hostile management and fraudulent staff. What a shame! read more

You can do a lot better in Bellingham than this place...I left some clothing in my room, I called the next day after I had checked out and they said nothing had been returned and to call back the next day when housekeeping was in. So I came in the next day and they said they checked with housekeeping and that I "must have put them somewhere in a bag and just not remembered". I went home looked in all my bags AGAIN and still wasn't successful so called back, and they said that they still didn't have them and they had checked everywhere... Super frustrating because a shirt I left meant a lot to me and it seems that their housekeeping or someone must have thrown it away or lost or something because the last place I had it was at the hotel. Will not be staying here ever again, I dislike places very much that can't own up to what they have done and instead blame. My floor did also smell of weed and cigarette smoke which was odd because I was on the third flood. Wouldn't recommend, the cheapness of the place wasn't worth the poor customer service, and conditions that the hotel was in. read more

I didn't expect much for the price, so when I arrived i into the lobby, I found that it was well-maintained and comfortable. Then i checked in my room & it too was flawless. The room also had AC/heater which work very good. I went to the breakfast room which was also very clean and well stocked for a continental breakfast is open from 6-10a. I saw there was a few complaining comments about this room and I begin to wonder what did they want for breakfast a Hawaiian buffet? The personnel were polite & very professional. All in all, I do not know what I could do as a manager to improve this place. I think if I had paid double what I was charged, I would still feel I had a fair deal. I did read some of the other reviews that had 2-3 stars, So at the beginning, I did not expect too much. Now, after staying here, I cannot believe after what I experienced that anybody could rate this inn so low. I think the only reason I gave stars was because the staff was friendly and the closeness to nearby stores/gas stations/freeway (a little too close). For the price, I expected way better. We took the little rundown elevator up to our floor, got off and first thing we noticed was the ice machine room was torn up. The heat was horrible. I would think they'd turn on the air conditioning in rooms with reservations. The room was small, bathroom small, bed so hard. Only one accebile outlet that already had a lamp and the phone plugged into. Had to unplug the lamp to charge my phone. The room had lots of wear and tear. Excited to see that we had a microwave and refrigerator in the room. We were only staying one night but for folks staying longer there is a Fred Myer next door that would be happy to stock your fridge. Not Safe. Noisy. I stayed here with my wife and daughter. My daughter had just turned 18 so it was her first time staying in a hotel room alone. I would have been ok but this place is pretty much a run down motel 6 (by the way it doesn't look ANYTHING like the pictures they have on the website). We got there and realized it was not nice, run down, and right next to the freeway. We had the executive suite, the room hasn't been updated in 30+years. Tub and toilet were in disrepair and missing caulk. I was worried about my daughter being alone in such a sketchy hotel and my fears were confirmed when she called me at 1:15 AM to say there were men knocking on her door for 10 minutes. I went down and it was a dominos delivery guy and hotel staff banging on her door claiming to have a pizza for her room. I yelled at them and made them go away but the experience shook us up and we got no sleep. Lots of people drunk/high and wandering the halls at all hours. read more

I just finished writing a 1 star review of Days Inn in Bellingham. It was a horrible experience with no hot water. We moved to the GuestHouse Inn and are glad we did. By contrast, Bellingham's GuestHouse Inn is wonderful. The people care about their guests and, in fact, the desk clerk wanted to know all of our preferences. I jokingly said: "I would like the presidential suite with no extra charges." He gave it to us! Top floor in the most quiet part of the hotel. It really was his best room. The hotel is clean, people are nice, everything works, and it is centrally located so that you can get anywhere in Bellingham in just a few minutes. I have never been so disappointed with a hotel in my life. The room was filthy! Weeks/months of dust on the headboards of the bed and over the armoire. It appeared that someone left the contents of their nose one the inside of the lampshades by the bed. They were dried and fell onto the nightstand between the two beds. The beds were squeaky because the mattresses were old and had wire springs. A floor lamp that had no outlet to plug it into. But wait, there's more! There was water leaking from the ceiling that dripped onto the light fixture over the sink in our room. In short, I would NEVER stay here again for any reason. My experience at this hotel was Average. The chairs in the room were stained (that is disgusting) for real. The carpet was gross and my white socks was brown at the bottom....do not stay here...this is disgusting!!! I am not impressed and they need to update their stuff and maybe have clean stuff...ugh Never again!! read more
