Fred Meyer is immediately across the street so if you forgot anything at home, or need something, it's a quick purchase. The staff was nice and check in and out was smooth and easy. The rooms were cleaned and more modern than the lobby and hallways. It's a dog friendly hotel and we were right next to the exit, so it was nice getting our dog in and out for the bathroom. The shower head could be better. The room felt a bit humid. There was free breakfast in the morning, it's limited breakfast, but it has the basics-- coffee, cereal, waffle, bread, yogurt. You can't take the breakfast food to your room though.

Betty has thought of virtually everything a traveler could need and guests get free reign of the upstairs during their stay. I love that Betty welcomes people to take home unfinished books from her library - "books are meant to be read, not sit on a shelf," she says. Breakfast was made at the prearranged time convenient for us (so appreciated!) and was delicious and abundant. She sat and chatted with us during breakfast and is so personable. We had to depart on a jet plane that afternoon after our 4-day trip to the Evergreen State and had a few bottles of wine that we hadn't enjoyed so I offered them to Betty and she even suggested she could take their value off our bill, although I refused because they were a gift to her for our lovely stay. Would be happy to return to Viewmont Manor if we ever find ourselves back in Bellingham!

Although we did not have the best first impression with the lack of parking, it had nothing to do with the staff or actual lodging. We were warmly welcomed and were told all the important deets of our stay. At the hotel lobby is free Caffe Vita coffee and Smith tea for guests, along with filtered water. Heck yeah! They also have this really good coffee and tea in the hotel room, which was a win because we're a fan of both of these products from the Pacific Northwest! We had a room with a king size bed and it was very large and spacious. When booking, we also specifically looked for a dog-friendly hotel in the area, which Hotel Leo is. So yes, an automatic win. We saw a bunch of doggy guests here, and they have a designated dog relief area with poop bags. We had everything we needed, including AC and WiFi. The location cannot be beat as we were walking distance to everything being in downtown Bellingham, and it made for a great base for when we hiked around the area. I also love the historic building, and they show the old photos of the hotel when it first opened in the lobby. We were there for a week and there would be times where the hotel workers would start vacuuming early morning in the hall without any consideration of the people sleeping. The "continental" breakfast consisted of plain bagels, plain bread, old looking donuts and maybe a pastry here and there. Juice and coffee was also offered to guests but nothing to get overly excited over.The hotel room was fairly clean and the halls always kinda smelled good but that was the best part of the stay. Overall, unfortunately I wouldn't recommend.

When I, understandably, got upset and said "this is screwed up," the man at reception started literally screaming at me, telling me that "he's just a person" and threatening to call 911 on me. Looking at the exterior of this motel and reading other reviews, it sounds like he saved me a stay in a disgusting motel. Moved on to the Four Corners Sheraton down the road!
