Sangria
Mario B.

Came in for the famous Paella, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Generous portions, one plate serves 1 person. Ordered the mixed with seafood and chicken. Takes about 25-30 mins to prepare and it's well worth the wait. To pass the time during the wait, we ordered a jarafa of sangria de vino. Served chilled and complimented the paella perfectly. The place got busy for dinner, highly recommend over the places you see on the main strip. Friendly and hospitable service. The location was nestled in small street off the main path. Makes you feel like you're in old Spain.

We randomly came in here for afternoon tapas when we realized how starving we were from all our steps. It doesn't look like much but the sangria was refreshing and the tapas were tasty. The decor isn't fussy or over the top. The staff is welcoming. The space was large enough to easily get a table. My husband said that these were some of his favorite tapas from our trip. If you're near La Rambla and want to step away from the chaos for some good, this is a good option for tapas.

Tapas, paella, and very friendly service were all on offer at this gem we discovered while walking about in Barcelona. I would like to return to try a few more tapas and maybe a wine flight if offered ~ seems like the vibe would be great for that with a group of friends at one of the long community tables.

Actually disappointed with food and atmosphere. Came because of the reviews but there was nothing special about this restaurant. Ordered a few tapas and paella. Service ok, kind of indifferent but polite. There was a special "room" for smokers so that was very nice. The arugula salad was very bland, only arugula plus a few cherry tomatoes, sliced Parmesan and light balsamic glaze. Needed to dress with olive oil and vinegar. The eggplant goat cheese was better but again not that flavorful. The paella was disappointing, no crust with a few pork sausage pieces and mushrooms. There's so many better places to go to.

Iberian Ham and a mixed salad

Of course we wanted some authentic tapas in an off the beaten path, Catalan restaurant, and Guell hit the mark. The restaurant is named after the street, but also the historic wealthy family of the area. We enjoyed a glass of sangria, and some traditional fare. Prized Iberian ham is so delicious and we had it plain and in bits on a separate salad. We also had some calamari, and a plate of eggs and potato torte. Four dishes were enough to satisfy this family. The ambiance in the back of the restaurant was partially underground and surrounded by a warm wood with a full bar at the end. When you entered down to the dinning area you passed the kitchen along the way, and had a chance to glimpse the open kitchen and cooks. Very family friendly and a nice place for kids too.

It's hard to find top rated tapas spots in las ramblas that aren't tourist traps, so this was a great find! The interior was inviting and nice. Our server took good care of us as well, in and out in a timely matter. We got: -vermouth (not too syrupy which I loved) -tempura fried Catalan onions (yum!) -anchovies (very meaty and flavorful) -Croquetas (always a treat, creamy) -pimientos de padrón (good flavor but could use more char) -artichoke (always a fave) We loved the complimentary olives too!

Excited!! Wipes to clean up.

Upon arriving, we felt very welcomed. The food was amazing. The waiter was very good at executing our meal as if it was an orchestrated event. I loved that he put thought into the timing of it all. The restaurant was located in the back side of the property which made me feel like we were being led into a secret spot. Frontside was more of a bar like setting. When the food came out! Oh boy! Paella is a must. We got the mix.... and the chicken. The best paella I've ever had. Also got the fried chicken with potatoes. Shared the seafood soup as well as the sautéed mushrooms. We were happy with our meal. If we ever come back to Barcelona again, I'd definitely come back. Great Customer Service, Great food, Great job!

Seafood paella, sangria

One of the best restaurants I went in Barcelona. This was the first restaurant I tried when coming here and was impressed with all the food. The tapas and paella were amazing. Loved how you can taste the seafood in the paella and it wasn't too salty. Service and workers were nice. Everything was delicious, that I came back here a second time on my last day!

My friend and I went in the morning. There was plenty of seating, and we enjoyed various items. We started with the jamon and poached egg toast, which was a great brunch-like item for us. We also got the roasted vegetables with goat cheese; the goat cheese had a delicious, caramelized sear. The artichoke flower was kind of bland (1 star off), but the albondigas (meatballs) came with a comforting, homey, and rich sauce. My ultimate favorite was their arroz negro (squid ink paella). Each rice pellet was very flavorful and came with a crusty bottom -- just the way I like it. There are only a few tapas places open in the mornings, and I am glad I found this place. It is a little bit off La Ramblas, but not far. Yes, we eat tapas in the mornings, and we like it. Don't judge!

Came here after reading the reviews on Yelp and was not disappointed. Walking in the restaurant looked okay and the staff were decent so nothing amazing at first glance. But the food made up for whatever was lacking and we all know that the quality of food is probably the most important thing about a restaurant. The food here was definitely top class. We ordered their paella del señorito, albòndigas, croquetas de pollo, and their dados de solomillo a la pimienta. The paella was absolutely delicious. We got the version that had seafood without the shells and all the seafood was cooked to perfection. The rice as well was so tasty and everything complimented each other well. The other tapas were all so delicious as well. All the different meat were so savory and juicy and the sauce that came with it perfectly enhanced all of the meat. We also got their Sangrias and they were a bit strong and acidic however paired well with the tapas and paella. Overall would come back!

Patatas con alioli
Steph Q.

Our meal at Guell Tapas was one of our favorites while visiting Barcelona. The food was fantastic and the service was attentive. We were a party of four adults who came in around lunch. They had several customers at the time of our visit, but they weren't packed to the point I anticipate they can get to around the dinner or late evening time. An overall strong and memorable first impression of our, now, favorite tapas spot in Barcelona. We ordered several tapas to share at the table. Everything was phenomenal. Some of our standout favorites included: - Pan con tomate - Croquetas de jamon - Patatas con alioli - Gambas al ajillo - Paella de marisco Portions were generous and were able to be shared comfortably among four hungry adults. Tapas were flavorful and cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and attentive. Requests were filled nearly instantly. Guell Tapas is a must-stop-spot on your trip to Barcelona. You won't be disappointed.

Croquetas de pollo

We were in the La Rambla area and had researched Guell and thought it sounded good, so we gave it a try. It was definitely worth it. The service and the food were great! They were very friendly and helpful. The place was busy, but they kept up well with everyone. The atmosphere was nice, as people talked and laughed together, as 80's pop music played in the background. It was cool seeing people just enjoy life. The food was great! My wife ordered the patatas con alioli and the croquetas de pollo off the tapas menu. She loved them. I had the paella mixta. It was seasoned perfectly with nice chunks of chicken and seafood, mussels and two big, whole shrimp, pepper and onions over rice, of course. The rice was cooked perfectly. I decided I needed some Estrella to drink along with it, so I got a big mug of it. It went well with my food. Overall, a great place with great food.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. While all of the food was great, for me the codfish was hands-down the star of the show and probably one of the best dishes that I ate on the trip. The flavor of the sauce combined with the texture of the fish actually blew me away, and I can see why my server highly recommended this to me. The service was excellent, our server spoke English and knew so much about American pop culture. He even sang NSYNC songs to us while serving us dishes. It was almost like a paella curry, which was still rich and delicious. - Squid Sandwich (10/10) This is hands down the best appetizer I've ever had. The squid was packed with flavor and the mayo sauce they used paired perfectly. Order one per person, and be prepared to order another to go. - Garlic Shrimp (8/10) Solid entree paired with sourdough bread.
