3 taco platter, ones in my mouth :)

Driving thru from west coast to east and decided to stop just anywhere to get a bite along the way. Most of the small town Tex Mex places all are horrendous .. and I was ready. To my surprise this place was great, food was fresh ... will stop again. Excited I finally found a stop along my work way.

Combo Platter for about $20.

Pros: Delicious authentic food Quickly prepared Great location Cons: One server for the entire restaurant-As a result, horrible customer service. Table had rice on it from the previous guests. Stains on my cup and fork (gross ) I ordered a bottled beverage and ate with my hands when I could. In a nutshell, I'd try this place again, however, I would not go out of my way for it.

Delicious Food and they have the sauce bar which I love! The service was great and would recommend you checking it out if passing or staying in Indiantown.

Average review for a wonderfully average restaurant. * Tasteful-yet-not-savory * Personable-yet-not-friendly * Efficient-yet-not-professional * Clean--yet-cramped * Large, familiar portion sizes yet not priced realistically for this area. $14 average plate.

If you're looking for comforting authentic Mexican food, then you've come to the right place. Not only were the patrons all Mexican, but so was the staff. They have a great salsa bar that packs a REAL punch -- if you're a brave soul that wants to pack on the heat, get the red salsa, and also serve yourself some of the pickled red onions with Habanero pepper slices. There is also the mild green tomatillo sauce and pico de gallo. Complimentary warm, homemade chips are brought to the table -- with another salsa that is much milder than the one at the salsa bar -- while you wait for your meal. The menu is quite assorted, which makes it hard to make a selection, but the portions are nice and filling. There is a seafood portion on the back of the menu that contains ceviche, beckoning on the restaurant's Guatemalan roots (hence the Guatemex name). Although the exterior's unimpressive and the interior is quite spartan, don't let that fool you. The food is quite elaborate and well-presented. Service is also friendly and attentive. After much deliberation, I ordered the Chile en Nogada, while my friend got the Enchiladas Oaxaquenas. We had decided we would split our meals and share them, but I guess he changed his mind once he took a bite. He let me try a couple of bites of one of the enchiladas (they had different meat fillings and the one he gave me had sausage), and it was tasty. His meal was huge. My dish consisted of one stuffed pepper, so it wasn't as hefty as his, but the pepper was stuffed with a large portion of ground meat, and topped with creamy goodness. The beans had a homemade flavor to them and were rich and thick. I would definitely return next time I'm in Okeechobee. This is probably one of the best restaurants in this somewhat sparse town, and especially if you enjoy ethnic cuisine!

As you come in, there is an eat-in bar on your left and an ample dining room straight from the door. The menu has lots of choices, from salads to tacos to BBQ pulled pork and many more choices. My bet is that anything you order would be delicious. I had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw, and it was incredibly good. Juicy flavorful large brisket pieces on sliced bread that holds everything perfectly in place without falling apart. The michelada they make here is definitely one of the best I've had even south of the border. The ambiance has that southwestern vibe to it, sort of like one of those western movies. Service was a bit slow, but good and friendly. Eliza was very personable, and her recommendation was on point. Definitely recommended stopping here if you are in the area. Thumbs up
