Went in to make copies of two keys other local shops were unable to duplicate. The gentleman who assisted me was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was upfront about not having the right blank to duplicate one of the keys but gave me other options without being pushy or trying to sell. They have a grab a number machine (like at the DMV) so I'm assuming it can get pretty busy during the day. I went in to get replacement keys for my car because this place was recommended to me. Went in and Randy helped me. He starts programming my keys and then comes and gets me because the door latch broke after he used the new key, ( I took my car in just a couple of days ago to a mechanic to have a full check up and he used our key and had no problem.) I come out and he had taken my door apart and told me which part he broke and said he would charge me $238 for labor to install the new part. Also, I would have to go to the car dealership and buy said part. So he broke my door and gave me a quote on how much it to cost to install. After I came home we called and spoke to him again and he said he didn't break it and that it is our responsibility to fix it. But that he can still install the new part for $238. He gave me no warning when I went in there that this is something that could happen. If he had told me that I would've said thank you for your time and I would've left the store. If II could give this company is zero or -5 I would gladly do so. They took over a previous company, Absolute Security Alarms. Unlike the old company, this one will not answer the phone unless you wait a really long time, like probably 10 or more minutes. This is extremely poor service when it comes to dealing with a home or business security issue. Even after I eventually got a human and they asked me for my address andmy phone, they said they had no record of me in their system. This makes no sense, because I'm paying for the service, auto pay every month. We had a false alarm and fortunately my husband shut off the alarm soon enough that the cops didn't have to come and then we would be hit with $115 bill. Still, when they came over the intercom it was hard to communicate with the person and they didn't ask for a security code which the previous company always asked for. In other words, any burglar could've walked in and said everything's OK, and they would take the persons word for it. This is not safe and it doesn't make me feel secure. The only thing they are reliable and consistent about is taking my money every month. This is the worst customer service I've had from any place in a really long time. Stay away. If you're one of those unfortunate customers whose company switched over to Guardian, start looking somewhere else asap. read more

This is the place to go if you are a female and like to be mansplained. I have been to this location twice now. The first time was to inquire about what might be wrong with my car's ignition and the second time was today when I called about scheduling an appointment. On the first visit, I was there with my cousin who is also a female police officer though Kevin didn't know this. She has a pretty good understanding of cars with the work she does. She was talking to him about how the system in my car's ignition worked. Kevin spoke over her and down to her, which was incredibly rude. Today, Kevin told me when I was explaining to him what was going on with my car, "Stop talking and listen to me, you're going to talk forever." I called back and was again connected to Kevin. I asked to speak to his boss, Jim. Prior to transferring me to Jim, I let Kevin know how rude he was and he laughed. I hung up. If this is the way they treat their customers, especially with the pandemic and limited customer access, I wish them luck. My car will be worked on elsewhere. Take your money elsewhere. read more

We pulled up this morning at 10 am, two employees at the counter, no other customers, and the first words that greeted us (rudely), "It'll be 5 minutes!" Husband asked about getting a second key fob made and they said $265 and you have to leave your car for 3 hours." This employee is older, gruff, and seems burnt out on customer service. A "hello" or "good morning" would have been nice. He wasn't on the computer or doing anything that would make it so he couldn't at least find out what we were seeking. Rude! read more

I would have reviewed Guardian Security sooner if I wasn't so busy. I LOVE this place. You can actually get motorcycle keys cut here! I had originally ordered a Kawasaki blank, but it was the wrong one... So I brought it in, and they didn't have the correct size either, but ordered a compatible one right away. The staff is so accommodating. The man (and I hate that I don't remember his name) that cut my key (after the correct sized blanks came in), even walked out to my bike and check multiple times that it was the right size and made minute corrections (he was back and forth about five times). For my motorcycle, they had only all metal blanks that would fit, but it didn't matter to me, as long as it works (which it definitely does) and it was very inexpensive (I was actually shocked how little it cost me). I've already told a few friends about this place. This is THE place to go, if you don't want to pay $$$$ for a key from the dealership. read more

They successfully copied the damaged keys and reprogrammed new chip keys for the vehicle with a chip ignition. This place is absolutely amazing! Normally I don't write reviews because it takes so long but I have to take a moment to express my gratitude and love for this place and their employees! I am new to Washington and just before I started working my car got repossessed! It sucked but luckily I had some cash laying around to purchase a car. My 1998 Cadillac Deville. Well it just so happens that I'm clumsy as ever and happened to lose my keys on the sounder from Seattle to Tacoma! I ended up spending about $200 to replace my keys because of the way Cadillac keys are setup! I was met on the weekend after hours in the shop to have 3 sets of keys made for the price of 1!! Had my son's 1999 Dodge Durango towed to Guardian to have the Fob programmed so the car would start. The key wouldn't start it. Randy was a LIFESAVER!! These guys are the best!!!! I was quoted over $300 for my key even though I did not need new electronics, just a blade. No company would just cut the blade with the code for me until the dealership recommended for me to call these guys! I am so greatful! they cut me two keys for 1/16th of the price I was previously quoted. and they extracted my key for 1/3 of my previously quoted prices! not only did they provide me with what I wanted and for a reasonable price, but they also provided excellent customer service. Absolutely horrible customer service. Similar experience to others who have said the people who work there will choose to ignore you when you walk in. I mean, it's a business, and they want customers to come in... right? They sure don't act like it. Stood at the counter for 25 minutes before someone would help me. No 'we'll be with you in just a minute' or something similar. An older lady walked in and they helped her right away, not sure why I was ignored for so long. When someone finally got around to helping me, I asked them for a specific key I needed for my roof rack on my car. I gave the guy a key I had that was similar and said, 'it's one of these small ones' and gave him the number off the lock tumbler. Instead of listening to me, the guy just assumed I needed a key copy, so he first made me a copy of my key I handed him. Of course it didn't work, and I had to go back in and ask him to remake it to the correct number. He acted really annoyed and threw the key in the trash in a big show of frustration, then remade my key correctly. Finally, they have a big sign at their counter that says '4% discount for cash.' I paid cash but was certainly not offered a discount. It was the difference of 25 cents or something, and I didn't want to argue about it but that was just the icing on the cake of my bad experience. The only thing keeping this review to 2 stars instead of 1, is that I eventually got what I came in for and my key works. I'm sure if they would just greet their customers like every other retailer, and listen to what their customers needed, things would go a lot more smoothly for these guys. read more

Recommends I dig 2' trench and bury conduit from control box to keypad for brand new system. I bury conduit next day. JUNE 27: I reach out, he promises to come out one more time and offer proposal bid. AUGUST 9: Reached out again...hello? anyone there? VP Karen R responds "Tech on vacation" but he'll get back to you tomorrow. AUGUST 18: Hello???...Anyone there?...VP? Tech responds - I'm catching up on paperwork, will get you proposal later today. AUGUST 21: PROPOSAL ARRIVES!!!! YAY!! Wait...what?? $3,000? Wow! Ok, let's just get this done. Confirm newer and improved model will be used and let's do it! I agree to proposal, sign and return as instructed the same day. SEPT. 23: A full month later, I have yet to hear from anyone. Guardian appears to be good at duplicating car keys and mailbox keys but perhaps my needs may be over their heads. I think I have been patient to the extreme and allowed for a busy tech to take some time off, and to settle back into work but this is ridiculous. I have been having some ignition issues with my 2003 Honda Pilot SUV EX. The key goes in fine but does not turn completely which does not allow me to start my car (very common issue with a lot of Hondas, especially the '03 Honda Pilots). I decided to call Guardian Security and they were able to give me some options. The option I went with was to remove the ignition myself and bring it in for them to repair/rebuild. When I walked in Randy greeted me right away and took a look at my ignition and the original Honda car key (chipped key). He told me that the key was worn out and more than likely the ignition is damaged and needs to be repaired. The total cost would be $220+tax (rebuilt ignition and new programmed key). Randy and his team was able to rebuild the ignition in 1.5 hours and I got it back that same day. When I picked up the ignition, it was close to end of business hours so he told me to come back in the morning and I can get my key programmed in 15 minutes or less. I came back the next morning (8/8/17) at 8:30am and Allen was there to program my key in less than 10 minutes. I was interested in getting an additional key (which is $89.50) and Allen informed me that he can give me an additional 25% if I get a second key, so I decided to do that. I am a happy customer!! The Honda dealership wanted to charge me $700+ for all of this work. I have a new ignition and two brand new keys (total was around $315). I called Guardian Security to have my two HHR remotes programmed. Jim at Guardian was rude and short on the phone with me. He quoted me $65 for the first remote (and since "I was already there, they will do the 2nd one for $15 more) and I had to sign an agreement saying it didn't matter if they were able to program them, that I had to still pay......and pay up front. Fine. That price seemed a bit high from looking around at other locksmiths (but I chose Guardian because they were closest to my home). I said ok, didn't seem like that big a deal, but then he proceeded to tell me that "if you got them off the internet that 30-40% of them don't work". I told him I got them from AC Delco (an official Chevrolet parts manufacturer. He didn't bother listening. He just told me that it didn't matter. That they didn't have any way to know if they would work until after they spent the time programming them. Thus, charging up front. Told me it would take about an hour. I was rather put off by his attitude and the way he was talking to a customer on the phone, so I called Gilchrist Chevrolet (down the street). Knowing, I'd probably pay more for it at a dealership. Went in, and they told me, "yes, we can test them to see if we can program them". You know how long it took? 20 seconds. Even told me that my current one was not going to be able to be reprogrammed. Which is why I bought two new ones in the first place. 20 seconds! For something that Jim at Guardian told me was not possible. I didn't have to pay up front and when they quoted me $35, I was fine that it was $70 ($10 cheaper than Guardian). Well, guess what? It wasn't. It was $35 for both. Not only did they test them within the first 30 seconds, I was out of there in 20 minutes (and the shop was very busy). Needless to say, I will never use Guardian EVER because of the attitude and rudeness of one of their employees. Doesn't mean I will always use the dealership (because I may have other key issues), but I do know that I'll use any other locksmith in town, except Guardian. *UPDATE TO RESPONSE......it cracks me up that your only response (since you are the one I talked to on the phone and you said EXACTLY what I posted in my review)....is that this is a competitor hit piece....lol. I'm actually a customer that you were rude to. Not sure what happened to the original response of that you were implementing changes so that people didn't have to go through what I went through. Service was great. They gave me a little hope on businesses in big cities. I was quoted a price for a chip key. And found out later that I didn't needed it . They could have easily sold it to me but they were very very honest and up front about it I told them I could still use a spare key and they told me they could sell me the key they had made but didn't feel right selling it to me at the price quoted so they sold it to me at a much lower price They charged me for a basic key instead. I commended them on descent and fair business practice. Showing it more important to gain a customer then it is to make a fast buck. Owning 2 local business I will go out of my way to promote them to family, friends, companies and agency's I do business with to call on them for all there keys, locks, safes and any accessories they might need from a lock and security company. Walked in recently as a first-time customer. They have good products but poor service. They seem to only see you when and if they choose to see you. It's like they still expect you to ring a bell or something even when it's obvious you need assistance. I stood at the counter by the cash register for a while before getting any help even after eye contact was made. I was the only customer in the store at the time but they did seem occupied with whatever they were doing behind the counters. I went to the dealer to get a key for my car and was shocked how much they were They told me it would be $285.00 for just one key. I am on a budget, the parts guy took pity on me and told me these guys are good guys and that they would do it cheaper. I sure am glad he told me because it was $180.00. I was so impressed with how professional they are and the price sure helped too. I am a customer for life. While I was there I talked to a couple of the guys, they showed me how many kinds of cars they can make keys for, I think BMW and Mercedes was about all they couldn't do. I had my car keys stolen. They had a microchip programmed to start my ignition. Took my spare keys that needed to be programmed (Infiniti gave me 2 spare that were not programmed...so unhelpful...) and after a short service call, they had my stolen keys taken out of my cars computer system and got my other keys programmed! 5 YEAR Customer NO More! For the past 5 years I have used Guardian for both Commercial work and Personal. In general I thought they seemed to be competent but lack customer service skills. The desk staff has seemed rude at times- even condescending. Because they seemed competent and honest, I have continued to use Guardian. That opinion has changed. This week they worked on a 28 year old car door lock for me. I brought the lock in to the store myself. They told me the repair would range from $25-45 and take a few hours. 3 days later they handed me a bill for $80 and no explanation. In addition I had to make a couple of extra trips back to Guardian for them to figure out they hadn't completed the job. I told the person that I had been quoted a range that was half the bill. The guy flatly told me what the bill was and ended the conversation. So, Guardian received their payment in full (they only completed the fix at 80% yet charged 200%). I informed the guy that he lost a 5 yr customer over $40. He just shrugged his shoulders. So, if you value your time, your money, and/ or your locks, you might want to keep shopping for another locksmith. Good luck there are competent and fair businesses out there.
