This is it. This is the local family locksmith business you should call if you are ever in need of assistance. The lock on my door is a Kwikset SmartKey lock; they are "pick-resistant." Other locksmiths tried to pick it to no avail, or straight up said they'd have to destroy the lock and charge me for a replacement, etc, etc. Not Wylie. Wylie explained to me over the phone he could drill out just the cylinder, install a replacement one, and rekey that lock to match my existing key. He came over promptly, and did just that. I set up an appointment over the phone to extract a broken key on my Thule Cargo box. The lady was very polite over the phone. I show up at appointed time and the old gentleman gets to it right away. It was such a pain in the butt to take the key out, other places would have given up and just said no but he persevered and eventually got the key out. Price is more than reasonable and I really appreciate his hard work. The least I can do is leave a positive review. Seems like a very gentle and kind hearted gentleman. read more

This is a super belated review from a few years ago -- I was just trying to remember the name of the company to go back to them for something else and realized I should have reviewed them back then. I bought an old pickup a few years ago, and it took a lot of nutsing around to get it to start. The key looked pretty worn, and I wondered if that was the problem. I took it in to these folks, and they REALLY went the extra mile to find the key code to cut a new one. (The old one being so worn, of course, trying to use it as a master would have only produced another key no better than the worn-out one.) They were able to get that info and cut me a couple of keys (at a ridiculously reasonable price -- I don't think they actually charged me anything for all of the research required because of the truck's age) -- which indeed fixed the problem! SUPER nice folks and SUPER helpful. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. read more

in the last week Got quoted a job, the guy came out, told me he had to send my internal box to get keys made for $450 and that it would take 2 days max. Come to find out he charged me for overnight shipping on my part but then when it came down to it he got extended shipping and kept the difference. It's been 4 days nowand when I called and left messages, he never returned my calls, I left 2 messages with his assistant that he got but still didn't return and when I caught him in the morning finally, he screamed at me for expecting him to finish the job and he said I'm not going to drop everything to fix your car and said he's busy and hung up. I called back and asked him why he hung up and he said he will get there when he gets there and don't call back!! I told him I was going to lose my job because I can't drive. He said that's not my problem!! Then after he did show up, he refused to finish the job on my ignition switch he quoted me. Stay away from this company. My wife and I live about an hour away and she had gone to Gig Harbor to p/u a test from her doctor. After she thought it'd be nice to take our 1 year old out for a walk at a local park. While getting out of the vehicle and getting things squared away to go play in the park she had set her keys in her trunk and accidentally closed them in there! The Fire Deparment said they couldn't help. And our family could not go pick my wife & kiddo up because they didn't have a car seat. Our roadside assistance told us that because the keys are in the trunk that they'd had to tow the vehicle to retrieve the keys? Eventually my wife called 2 other locksmiths in the area who all said they were "booked for the entire week" and so the 3rd locksmith was the charm! Wiley & Linda were so patient, genuine and asked all the "correct" questions. They were extremely kind and it is clear that they care about their community. They were transparent about the costs and clear that they'd give it their very best effort (trunks are difficult to get into when all the secondary locks & levers are locked via the car's keys). My wife had walked almost 1.5 miles from her car to the local Target with our 1 year old due to it being an 85 degree day (they needed to stay cool, access to a bathroom, food and a safer place for our little girl to play while she tried to figure out what to do). Wiley was successful in retrieving my wife's keys & even brought her car to her so that she didn't have to unsafely walk back with our 1 year old in tow. He was so timely and professional. We sing the highest praises and thank God for Beacon Locksmith. They absolutely helped keep an unfortunate experience turn very expensive and more drawn out. Outstanding locksmith services. This is the first time I've used Beacon and Wiley provided prompt and courteous service to me. I called and spoke with Glenda; I needed a lock drilled off a trailer hitch attachment and was asked to bring it directly to the office. Glenda greeted me with a smile and Wiley jumped right on the job. I immediately felt like I was one of his regular customers! Both Wiley and Glenda were polite, professional, and multitasked in a manner that sincerely impressed me--the office quickly turned very busy on this day. I think this, too, is a testament to the quality of Wiley's work. Even with the influx of business patrons, he was able to resolve my issue in less than 20 minutes and his final fee was lower than my expectation. I needed to re key my front door, called another company and got some weird message about not taking phone calls from private parties????..., so called Beacon ( it's been about 10 years since I changed locks, so I didn't remember the name of the company that did it then...It turned out to be Beacon!!) It wasn't an emergency, just needed them changed for security reasons, and they made an appointment for the next day....came right on time, VERY reasonable prices, very quick changing of the lock, and the people are very professional and nice! this is Wylie, the owner of beacon locksmith.just happened to read the review from Anil L. above.firstly, he did not tell you that I'm the only locksmith out of several that he had already called, and been told they either could not or didn't want to be bothered with his year and model of car.but after listening to his "I don't know what I'm gonna do,I'm gonna lose my job,nobody wants to help me" cries, I decided to try to help out. I rearranged my appointments and went out to his house to work. I have made keys for this car before, and it is difficult and time consuming, even IF you are being paid it is a job to pass up if you can.That's why the other locksmiths didn't want to bother.at first I turned it down, explaining that I was already booked, and I didn't really want it either.so recommended another locksmith, and told him if it didn't work out call back. he called back within minutes saying the guy wanted no parts of that car.I did the job for what i quoted,the cars computer had to be sent out to be reprogramed,I had explained that to him BEFORE i started work.fed-ex wanted $50 more than I had quoted to overnight it.he had told me he didn't have much $ and would have to borrow to pay me.so to keep my quote,I sent it 2-days I phoned him to let him know he insisted YOU SAID 2 DAYS I explained yes but it cost more and you don't have the $ unit will not get to factory til day after tomorrow "BUT YOU SAID TWO DAYS", next day, is it back yet? no, it not even THERE yet."BUT YOU SAID TWO DAYS" now I'm gonna lose my job,etc.the next time he called(twice within hours)YES! I lost my temper, YES I screamed at him and told him I would call HIM and come out and finish up AND YES I told him don"t call back and SLAMMED the phone in his face.when the part came, I went out and installed it and it worked fine.But get this HE apologized, saying he was sorry for getting on my case but he was TRYING QUIT(either smoking or cigarettes I forget which)and he was under a lot of stress and just venting.I had volunteered to do him a favor and rebuild his ignition( a separate job and price as agreed)he had the gall to ask if I was still going to do his ignition I told him POLITELY no, I'm done here.AT my shop customers come first. but I don't take any crap...... but then //I don't give any either.And customers always get the benefit of doubt. read more
