I first used Auburn Safe and Lock in June 2023, when I realized after 16 years of vehicle ownership, my spare tire cover had a lock, and I had no key. I stopped into AS&L with my dilemma expecting this 'situation' to be a cumbersome one. Not to worry! A gentleman, whose name I don't remember, headed out to my truck, shimmied under the spare tire cover with his back on the parking lot gravel, and let me know it was going to be cheaper to pop the lock and replace it rather than making/finding a key to open it. They had a suitable lock in stock, so that's exactly what he did. I don't remember the cost, but I remember thinking it was more than reasonable. Soon, I was on my way. When my front door lock had a metal piece fall from it, I knew who to call and I even got a live person who answered the phone! Andy at the shop gave me Victor's cell phone number, since Victor was out in the field so he could make an appointment. Victor picked up his phone when I called and I explained my situation. We set an appointment for Victor to come take a look. Victor texted me the evening before the appointment to confirm and he arrived exactly on time the next day. Turns out, someone did a bit of DIY on this lock prior to my ownership. Victor ended up replacing some parts with parts correct for this application (and not bent) and adding some reinforcements to the slot the bolt slides into. My deadbolt is sliding like it never has! And all at a very reasonable cost. Two things I have learned after many decades on this earth. I purchased a new mailbox lock, here. I had the locksmith make one additional key to the two supplied with the lock. I got home and installed the new lock and realized the key he had made did not work. Upon closer inspection, I could see that the cut was way off. I don't usually post yelp reviews but these guys were very professional. They came out and didn't even charge me for a service call. I called them because our wall safe wouldn't open. They arrived at the scheduled time after calling to make sure I was home. I thought I had forgot the keypad code to open the safe - but after looking at the safe they told me the battery was dead. They gave me a workaround but didn't charge me a penny. You rarely get that level of service these days. read more
