Had a very good experience with GSW. George (owner) came and quoted the job, discussed options, and was very polite. The quote came back at a good price and I accepted. However, my appreciation and rating is based on the work, as well as the price. The two electricians who showed up were fantastic. Jason and Todd were one of two teams that GSW has, and they were excellent. They had the outline of the job, but talked with me to get all the details and my preferences. I was really impressed. I deal with a lot of contractors, and these guys were good. They mapped out the installation plan and deferred to me how I wanted things done, made recommendations and gave solid advice on the project. The workmanship was very good and the guys really have skill. The were exceptionally careful to not damage anything and made sure that the electrical install worked perfectly at each stage before moving on to the next phase. They encouraged me to ask questions and gave honest, no BS answers on it all. I was very impressed. Highly recommend GSW and Jason/Todd. Will hire again! read more

Called and made an appointment a week out for yesterday (9/29) at 7:30am. At 8am and no show I called again. The man answering the phone basically told me me that they forgot we had an appointment. Understandable, I guess, and made another appointment for for later that day for them to arrive between 3-4pm. At 4 and again no show I called, no answer and I left a message for them to call me back. Never heard back. I have called another service provider and now realize their quoted hourly rate is very high. I would not let them waste your time with missed appointments and poor service. read more

Just wanted to take a minute and tell you about some of the great service that I just received from GSW Electrical on my home here in Mount Airy. My wife was looking to do some minor remodeling on our kitchen ie: Pendant lights, Chandelier re-location and various other projects.....(security cameras). I found GSW on a google search of electricians in our area, and their average customer review was a 4.5 or better (out of 5). Well after he has just completed our project here in Mount Airy, I would give him a 6 if there was one available!! Lol.....George or Spencer as he likes to be called, is the owner of GSW and I dealt with him directly through out the course of the project. GSW is a small family company that takes the time to understand the needs of their clients no matter how big or small they may be. Spencer has two main "Hot Shots", Jason and Chris who handle all of the dirty work and they are the nicest most accommodating two young men that you would ever like to meet. I could go on for a few more hours but unfortunately I must move on to more important things like...........Football! Go Steelers! Seriously do yourself and your family and friends a favor, if you have an electrical job that needs to get done fast, correctly, on time and at a fair price, Give George or Spencer or whoever is running the office that day a call and set up an appointment, you will not be disappointed! I used GSW Electrical to install a new receptacle for my slide-in range oven, that replaced a double wall oven when I remodeled my kitchen. I spoke with George, sent over a picture of the outlet, and asked for an estimate over the phone if I were to purchase the new floor mount receptacle and connection cord. George arrived the next morning, and did the job exactly as expected. His rate was reasonable, and there were no surprises. read more

We contracted with GSW to fix several electrical safety, code, and convenience issues in our house. George came by initially at no charge to give us an estimate and see the scope of the work to be done. George is experienced, friendly, and very helpful, even pointing out things I could repair on my own if I wanted to. One reason I chose them is that they post all of their electrician's license numbers on their website, making it easy to search the Better Business Bureau and the Montgomery County departmenut of licensing for any complaints. They have no complaints on record. Another reason I decided to work with them is that although they are based in Mount Airy, they also list on their website the range of neighborhoods where they ordinary do work, so I knew I wouldn't be wasting their time asking for an estimate too far away. Yesterday George and his assistant Chris came first thing in the morning so they could finish the entire list of projects in one day. George and Chris are excellent electricians, answering whatever questions I had, and actively seeking my opinion on esthetic aspects, such as switch placement and outlet type. Their experience showed best when dealing with the most tangled wiring in the house from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Their professionalism extended from an emphasis on safety all the way to having a dropcloth and a broom when they had to enlarge holes in the plaster wall. Both George and Chris showed experience with high voltage, they installed a whole-house surge protector in the main fuse panel. George and Chris finished in mid afternoon and left the house swept clean and had disposed of all wire and insulation cut offs. GSW Electric is now my firt choice for anything electric that needs repair or installation. I give them my unaualified recommendation. Besides being well qualified and licensed, both George and Chris obviously love their jobs, and I don't think you could ask for more than that. read more

I recommend staying away from GSW....they quote one thing over the phone but charge you something entirely different to say the least. I had an attic fan that stopped working (very conveniently I might add, after the warranty had just expired) and I asked them for a quote for a 2 yr warranty motor and a 5yr warranty motor. The owner told me the price of the 5yr. I then asked for the total estimated cost for both parts & labor. The service technician arrived the next morning with the wrong motor; he had to drive back to the parts wholesaler to get the right one except they only had lifetime and 2yr, no 5yr motor. I had to shell out more money for the lifetime. After all was said and done, they charged me as much labor as the first time when there were 2 technicians installing my entire attic fan and working over 2 hours. Installing the motor wasn't that difficult for this guy...he probably spent more time driving back & forth to get the right part (which obviously wasn't my fault) then installing the motor. I am not a happy camper....I feel like I was ripped off. read more
