I even asked about why there were not more Yelp reviews at our first interview & Kenny the owner said he gets most work from Another's List though he's booked many jobs over the last few years from Yelp referrals so it must be a good start for people searching for help. I wanted to add another post to Yelp because this is where I found the business. So, here goes. I interviewed 5 companies for our job. This is why Peekskill got the work: 1. They arrive on time, every time. This is a HUGELY UNIQUE experience for us! 2. They call you back. Not just same day but for me it was the same hour! 3. They are as interested in each new project as the homeowner. 4. Kenny has many years of experience as an independent electrician and he does the work himself with really nice young people apprenticing. I like knowing the person I talk to is the person I'll work with on the project. 5. For me, his experience and recognition of what it takes to work on an old building clinched the deal. Now the work is done, I can't say enough positive things about the experience, but here are a few impressions: 6. Prices were competitive with other contractors. Response time BY FAR exceeded others. I had a contract the day after our evening interview (but I am still waiting to here from one of the other 5 companies!!) 7. Kenny is a genuine, nice, professional person. He has really good communication skills and is easy to work with. That's a plus for weekend warriors and DIY projects. I've never needed electrical work done, therefore I searched local Facebook pages and found S&M. During my initial call, Trish thoroughly explained the process and offered to help. I felt comfortable with Trish, therefore took the chance and leaned on S&M to handle this issue. Trish, Ceasar, Kevin and Hugo were extremely helpful and explained all the work that was being conducted. They went above and beyond. They showed up on time every day, were professional, and cleaned before they left. They obtained the needed permits and communicated with the county and their inspectors in order to get the issue resolved in a timely manner. I am very very disappointed in how techs handle certain situations and actually found a MAJOR issue in open ductwork in unfinished basement that NO ONE from this company even bothered to look into or do any sort of testing to find out root cause....when I stated that my husband and I smelled musty, dusty smells and were affected by allergies, I was told 'this is normal' and nothing else. ???? You pay almost $400 for their better tier plan for HVAC service, and what you get is little to NOTHING. The tech barely does anything and if you state you have issues, they blow you off. Lazy!!!! I hired another company to install a new system, wasn't about to give this company anymore of my money. They found a cracked UV bulb that Hotzople had replaced, my filter area was jacked and should have been fixed a LONG time ago, and I today found an extra tubing coming off my duct in basement that was never capped off, thus rendering my entire system basically non functional -- at least very wasteful..... I cannot believe this has been for 7 years and Hotzople NEVER once checked for any duct work issues, or anything or ran any tests, I was systematically blown off, these guys do they BARE Minimum and ONLY care about collecting their yearly $s for maintenance. I highly suggest everyone EDUCATE yourself about HVAC before hiring ANYONE, these companies anymore have become greedy, they don't care. I was also told I had issues with my old system, but never was 'shown' WHAT those issues were fully.
