If you read the review that I wrote- the main problem is that the contractor sent to my house actually did the "fix" wrong to the system and caused a part of my unit to burn up. The repair was not done by a competent repairman which harmed the system and did not fix it. While you are not responsible for the home warranty choice to repair or replace- your company did not need to further harm the system and charge me for fixing it. Also- I believe that you work with the warranty company as a way to get customers and have them pay for a new system out of pocket. Btw- my review was written years ago- not sure why you are commenting on it now. I still do not recommend this company. The tech had my phone number and could have called, but FAILED to do a basic quality check. Then, I was told they could come out after hours, but there would be an extra fee... completely unacceptable, and unprofessional conduct. Got set up with GSSN through my home warranty company. Only had been living in this house for 4 months at the time and the blower motor went out in my unit. Was about to make for an extremely uncomfortable weekend. They were able to get to me that afternoon after calling my warranty company that morning. The gentleman that came out and fixed the problem was extremely kind and did not try to give me the run around. He was honest about the problem and replaced the part. Could not ask for a better service. Its been about 3 months since the repair and still no issues! Highly recommend. read more

I would give them a minus 10 if I could. I requested a service call from a warranty company for the attic HVAC system that was leaking in a 3-5 second drip from the corner of the attic door. GSSN was assigned. My mother met the GSSN technician who then inspected and stated he fixed the drip by cleaning the drain line out all the way to the basement. The GSSN tech said he needed to do some more work on the basement drain pipe so it would not clog again and told my mother he had to come back after submitting the claim paperwork to HMS. He also told her to pay the $50 deductible when they return, as the drain repair was probably not going to be covered and we would have additional charges. (The drain line goes out the side of the house on the second level.) That night the attic ceiling drained like a waterfall. A hundred times worse than the initial call for repair. I then called GSSN and the dispatcher in the morning and stated they would try and send someone out again - this week. That same evening Nick the service manager from GSSN called me barking and just horrible manners demanding payment of the $50 deductible for the service call, and that he would not send in the claim to The warranty company until the deductible was paid, nor would he come out to repair the damage. He was very irate and spoke to me very badly from the onset. Mind you I live in close to a million dollar home. $50 is not an issue to pay now, later, whenever. Well, I did what any person with sense would do, I hung up on him to let him yell at himself. He would not let me explain what the GSSN tech told my mother, to pay when they returned to fix the other issues. I asked the service representative to please have another company service my HVAC and that I would call GSSN and pay the deductible. I told him GSSN would not be admitted into my home again as they were very hostile on the phone and my family would not be submitted to hostile people in my house, and GSSN made the HVAC leak a thousand time worse. I also confirmed with a general contractor that GSSN could not have unclogged the drain without equipment. I confirmed with my mother that the GSSN did not use any equipment while servicing my HVAC. He was in my home less than 30 minutes. Again, GSSN caused more harm to my attic and ceiling with their service call, and I will be taking the issue to Loudoun County Government for GSSN's bad practices and harassing behavior. Oh the last time they came they flipped a switch in the vent system in the attic which caused my air to divert from the master bedroom. They came back and fixed it, by flipping the switch open again -for $50. I should've remembered. One good point: They do have a very nice dispatcher, she should not work for such a horrible company. read more

Our home warranty company had these guys come out. They wanted to charge us over 700 dollars to fix our boiler. The whole event seemed strange as the person who was here to work on the boiler didn't know how it worked and spent time talking to someone else on the phone. I had another contractor come a couple days later for a second opinion. They fixed it for 90 dollars. This place cannot be trusted. Do not use them. Don't let your friends or neighbors use them. I know how completely devastating a well written negative review can be for a company so I don't write this review lightly. Avoid GSSN at all costs. It will save you time and money. GSSN from top to bottom is a completely incompetent HVAC contractor and would advise you to tell whatever warranty company you have to send out another company to your home. If you hire GSSN outside of a warranty company, you get what you deserve because you aren't reading their many negative reviews. We have had a claim "managed" by GSSN for two months now and every time GSSN touches our unit, it gets louder and another issue arises. When a component fails, GSSN will remove the part and take it to their shop and hold it so no matter how long they take you cannot hire another technician to service the unit. You are GSSN's hostage until they decide it's convenient for their schedule, not yours, to come complete the work. They have also tried to up charge me to "expedite" work and parts for over a hundred dollars each. Shameful, unprofessional, and disinterested. That's the true motto of GSSN. read more

I had Total Protect set up an a Service call for my AC. This call was to take place on Friday May 31st. I left a message on May 29th to confirm the call. I did not receive a call back until May 31st to let me know that they could not do the Service call until June 2nd. Huh?. This is after I took off work to be available for them. When speaking to the Manager Nick he said Retail Customers take priority over Total Protect customers. Again HUH? After I reviewed with him that I left a Voice Mail two days prior without a call back he could care less. Nick is putting profits ahead of proper Customer Service. Horrible. Do yourself a favor and pick anyone else. We first used them due to a home warranty issue. They seemed nice enough and fixed the problem. They called and setup a meeting with us to discuss options for a new unit. We met with the owner and his son and they said that our unit is past its life expectancy. They priced out a new system for us. We explained that we cant afford a new unit and would like to keep ours going for now. They talked us into signing a two year service contract for 38 dollars a month. Seemed like a good idea as we thought our system might fail. They also said that they would service both of our units and change filters. Long story short. Anytime a tech has come to look at our unit we were told its too old, needs to be replaced. Except for the last time. The last tech came out and said your unit is only 10 years old and it is not past its useful life, I would repair it. The problem is, GSSN wants 900 dollars to "repair" the unit but they say they don't know what's wrong with it. How does that work?? On top of that, its like pulling teeth to get them to come "service" our units. And today they said that they don't replace filters, even though the owner sat at my kitchen table and told me they do. This company is only interested in selling new units. Which by the way, were way overpriced compared to other local companies. They didn't fix the problem and lost all ac 2 weeks later.,they said AHS warranty didn't pay enough to come back out and I had to open a claim even though my recall period was 30 days. I called when I got home at 6 with no ac and heard nothing for two hours. Then wanted me to pay $150! When they first came, I was forced to pay for locks and refridgerant that wasn't even needed. Was forced to use this company due to a home warranty claim i submitted. The tech spent less than 5 minutes looking at the furnace, told me there was a crack in a piece of PVC pipe, and collected his $100. A few days later they called me to set up an appointment to replace about 8 feet of PVC pipe, and were going to charge nearly $500 to do so. I had another company come out to look. They spent over 30 minutes flushing water through the pipe and determined that there was no crack or leak in the pipe. Do not use this company. read more

July 2016 - These guys are excellent. I own an old house with two AC units. Between both units I've had three separate issues in the last month. Each time GSSN has come out very quickly and have resolved the problem in less than an hour. Tonight was my best experience yet as they were able to get out here around 8 PM (I just found the unit wasn't working this evening when I got home from work). Brenden was able to fix the issue and tell me how to resolve this in the future. I have had excellent experience with them each time! I will be using GSSN in the future! The previous info is my review from July 2016. Since then their service has gone down significantly. I have two HVAC systems that both went out within about three days of each other. One system took them 35 days to fix. The first visit the service tech Jason said he kickstarted the fan and that's likely all it was, within two hours of him leaving the system failed again. They sent him back the next week, this time to look at both systems. He removed the fan and said it would take approximately 10 days to fix. The other system he stated needed Freon. I paid for the Freon and the system never cooled. I had them come back out but told them not to send Jason as he had been unable to fix both systems. They sent another gentleman who couldn't find anything wrong with the system. It was 60 degrees that day and I explained that the system runs nonstop and cannot maintain at 74 degrees. He looked no further and said the system may need a new compressor because it was running loud. He stated he didn't have one on his truck but they would contact me to come back out at replace. Over a week went by and no one contacted me. I called and got the run around. I finally asked to speak with a manager. The manager was extremely condescending and stated that his tech had not said what I was stating. He agreed to send out a service manager, which is apparently a higher level technician. That gentleman finally installed the upper level fan (after 35 days) and also found that my heating element had been running all along. So the reason my system was running nonstop was because the air and heat were fighting each other. That gentleman didn't have the part to fix the heating element but stated he disconnected the part so the AC could work. The next week they sent someone out to fix it and they had ordered the wrong part. To date they have not called me to complete the final fix on the system. It has now been 2 months. My electric bill was $479 due to their inability to correctly diagnose the problem for 35 days! I also paid for Freon that I didn't need. I wouldn't recommend this company in the future. September 4, 2018 - my system is finally repaired! It literally took them over 3 months and many failed attempts and wasted money on my part to fix. When I asked the service manager his plans to compensate me for the incompetence of his employees he said he wouldn't. I will never allow them in my home again. read more

Let me start by saying this review is strictly about the management of the company: In particular the service manager Nick (who I learned is the owners son). My wife and I had an issue with the heat in our house on November 11, 2017. No problem, we called American Home Shield (Warranty Company) and they quickly put us in touch with GSSN here in Winchester, VA. GSSN called us that evening (11/11/17) and agreed to send someone out on Sunday (11/12/2017) between 10:00am and 2:00pm. Rick showed up on 11/12/17 @ 11:00am and diagnosed 3 issues and said he would take it back to office where an estimate would be sent to AHS for approval and once approved they would order the part and install it. I asked how long this process took and he said a total of 3 to 5 days depending on where the part was located and how long it would take to get it. Tuesday, 11/14 @ 1:00pm: I called GSSN and spoke with Melanie and said there was no update Wednesday, 11/15 @ 11:00am: Melanie answered the phone and told me that it was still processing Thursday, 11/16 @ 3:00pm: Melanie answered the phone and when I asked for an update she told me that she will need to ask her Service Manager (Nick) who was in a meeting. I said ok and left my phone number. Around 4:00pm Melanie called me and said she had not forgotten about us, but (Nick) was still in his meeting and so she would leave a message and assured me she would check with him in the morning and get back to me. Friday, 11/17@ 9:30am: Melanie called me as promised and informed me that they (GSSN) had received the approval from American Home Shield on Thursday, evening ( 11/16) and they would now have to order the part and that it would take 3 - 5 days to receive the part. I told Melanie that was unacceptable as my family was freezing in the house. She then asked me to hold and transferred me to Nick the Service Manager. Nick got on the phone and tried to blame the Home Warranty company and when I asked when he submitted the paperwork he told me it was sent in on Wednesday (11/15).Rick got frustrated and started arguing with me about when they came and how he had to fill out all the paperwork and so I asked why in this day and age, it took 4 days to send an estimate electronically when we were without heat!! Nick didn't answer me. Instead Nick got frustrated and began raising his voice and suggested that I get a space heater. I said 'for a 5000 sq ft home?' in which he then suggested maybe we put it in a bedroom. I asked 'for 3 - 5 days'? Nick then said we could "get expedited shipping and installation the next day if you paid $129." I replied, "Let me get this straight, you waited 4 days to send our estimate in, the warranty company took less than 24 hours to approve and now it's either going to take 3-5 days to get our new part and have it installed or I can pay $129 and have it installed tomorrow?" Nick smugly replied "yep." I now pointed out to Nick that his customer service was insultingly poor and he said, "What do you want me to do?" I suggested that a good customer service company would provide the expedited service for free since it was GSSN that screwed up. That's when Nick shouted at me "ARE YOU CRAZY!?!?" I asked Nick who the manager was and he said Mr Duke. I told Nick I wanted to speak to Mr. Duke and Nick informed me that he was not available and he probably would not get back in touch with me today or maybe even not until next week. I went to a meeting and when my wife called Nick he apparently began yelling at her and she called me furious but agreed to pay the money so that we could have heat immediately since family was coming to town for Thanksgiving and it had now been a week. The technician (Brendan) showed up that afternoon (11/17) and replaced the part. The furnace broke down that night and we called the GSSN emergency line and left a message and no one called us back until Monday (11/20). Omar of GSSN came out Tuesday, 11/21 to fix the same part, again and after replacing it, this new part wasn't working either and so Nick would call us the next morning with an update on next steps. I called GSSN Wednesday, Nov 22 with the house sitting at 56° 4 times that day and at 3:00pm Paula informed me that Nick was out on a service call and that he'd probably go home after that for Thanksgiving!!! That was the final straw. I called the warranty company and found someone else (Mechnical, Electrical and Plumbing Partners, LLC / MEP Home Services of Manassas) to come fix our issue. They came Friday the day after Thanksgiving and diagnosed the issue in 10 minutes and ordered the part to fix it. I know this review is long but I want to ensure everyone has ALL the details of this poor customer service and experience. Do yourself a favor: DON'T EVER USE GSSN! We used this company because our home warranty company covered service from them. Our A/C was completely down during a heat wave and I am in my third trimester of pregnancy with twins (we also have 2 cats). They could not accommodate same day service so we were stuck in our 83 degree house (upstairs was over 90 degrees) for 2 days. Once the tech got out, it took him 3 minutes to put coolant in the unit to make it work again. To me this was not worth a $100 visit and definitely should not have taken 2 days. Next time we might not go through the home warranty company if we need service and we were not so impressed that we would call this company again. read more

I would give GSSN a lower rating if I could. Our home warranty made us use this company the end of May for our HVAC unit. While it was working, it wasn't doing its job and cooling completely. A GSSN tech came out and was here for maybe 20 mins. Told us they needed to add a few lbs of refrigerant and we needed locking caps. They charge $47 a piece for locking caps and we paid $135 for the refrigerant - $229 total. The tech didn't have what was needed so said they had to come back a few days later. Came back at the end of the week and again was here for maybe 20 mins. We called our home warranty again this weekend. Again, while the house was cooling, it still just wasn't cooling enough. I told our home warranty, after reading terrible reviews on GSSN, that I wasn't paying another $100 unless they sent a new contractor. A new contractor came out last night and spent 2.5 hours here. He did an incredible job, took time to explain things and was very knowledgeable. Looking at EVERYTHING for us. Found things that GSSN didn't even search for two months ago. After spending over an hour on the inside, he went out to look at the units. He told us the units were in good condition for their age. GSSN tried to convince us to replace the units. The new contractor had to add 3 lbs of refrigerant! Which would have been impossible for GSSN to add two months ago. The new contractor confirmed if there was a leak for him to add 3 more lbs two months later (which GSSN said there probably was), there is no way our house would have been cooling to the extent it was cooling. Problem has been solved & fixed. Units are doing their job. GSSN lied. We paid $135 for refrigerant they didn't even add and overpaid on the locking caps. We are extremely disappointed and feel cheated. Very discouraged with GSSN and our home warranty. DO NOT LET your home warranty assign GSSN. Demand a different contractor. They clearly only care about money and don't feel the slightest bit of guilt about taking someone's money and not doing what they say. Do not trust them. read more

Terrible company.....dealt with them through our warranty company.They came to our house on July4th 2019 to check our AC and as well took our $125.00 deductible....told us we needed a fan motor for our unit in the crawlspace.Then had my husband sign something on his personal cell phone stating he was here today so he could give his report to our warranty company and told us he would email our receipt which as of today's date we never did get a emailed receipt.Today July 12th I called our warranty company and the status says the job was completed.We feel this company that was assigned to our repair came to our house to rob us of our deductible on July 4th 2019 to act like they was trying to help but honestly did not care!!!Dont deal with this company to repair anything on an AC unit!!!!Terrible company who works for HMS as a service provider. read more

So happy to report that we finally found a heating company that we love! We had them do a yearly checkup for our unit and was pleasantly surprised as to the professionalism of the technician, how he was able to answer all our questions regarding future maintenance for our unit (our home is 11 years old), how he respected our home by putting booties on and leaving no mess behind, the timeliness of his visit and how friendly he was. I also have a home warranty. Heat pump/furnace stopped working. Tech came out same day, replaced a relay and then determined a controller had burnt out. This was a Friday. They replaced the controller on Monday and the furnace has been working fine. Two different techs on the two days. Both were good at their jobs, communicative and pleasant. The only real problem was out of their control We have 2 units: a 1.5 ton and a 2 ton. The 1 ton only heats a small portion of the top floor, so the main house was cold until the 2 ton got fixed. I say 'out of their control,' because the warranty folks stated that as long as we had 1 working unit, it wasn't an emergency. This has nothing to do with GSSN. I did tell the warranty folks that if the temps had been really cold, we would have pipes freezing in the lower part of the house and that would be an emergency. Anyway, no issues with GSSN; they did good work for me. read more

Do not use this company. I bought a house and the previous homeowner had the A/C and heat pump serviced prior to me moving in (I have the receipts). Since then, my condensate line was so backed up that there was water leaking from the furnace. Whoever the tech was that did this work clearly did not even bother to check the condensate line because it was filled with gunk...and it doesn't fill up that quickly within 2 months. The fact that they claimed to service the A/C unit is laughable at best. read more

OMG- Came out to fix AC. 91 degrees in the house. Came out to diagnose that. Also had a list of things to do that were not waranty. Guy stayed for a while. Then walked out to his truck and left. We were told they have to talk to warranty company and it may take a few days. I would have paid them for the repair and got reimbursed. They said if we handled stuff like this onsite we would only get 3 calls in a day. We own a computer service company and we dont leave until its fixed!!! What ever happened to keeping a customer happy. Its not all about the money. He did not leave a note, did not tell us what was wrong, and did not fix any of the things I already said I would pay for. And if he had told us he needed authorization from the warranty company they already told us if there was an issue pay him and they would reimburse. On top of this we have an elderly person staying with us and they kept him in hospital for an extra day so we could have our AC fully fixed. Now he has to come home to 90 plus degree home. I wish I could give them no stars! I was forced to use them through my home warranty company. They claim that my warranty company would not pay for a 20-year-old Central air and heat pump. They told us that my unit was on it's last legs but told the warranty company that it worked fine and we wanted a new unit so we bought it ourselves which was not true. I don't know anyone who would buy a brand new unit if their air-conditioner was working fine. When I notified the home warranty company they said they would replace the unit but the company that they had come to my home said it was working fine. Says there was nothing they could do about it but they would talk to GSSN heating and cooling LLC. When I found out that he lied to my home warranty company I canceled any service plan within a week by letter and by phone call. Just to have them try to debit out of my account $2660 even though I already paid them $6800 for the new unit. If you have a home warranty company and they recommend this company refused tell them to find another company. If you're looking for a company to fix your unit do not call this company. The service techs are pleasant. The service manager however, lacks the interpersonal skills to deal with customers, in a professional manner. He was confrontational, insulting and irrational. I, as the customer, couldn't get a word in to defend my position. I've used them in the past without problems. They may have changed their business strategy/infrastructure. They have the worst customer service I have ever felt with if I could rate with negative stars I would. Bottom line I have a baby and no heat with freezing temperatures. They lied to the home warranty and told them it was a pre existing condition because I gave them a hard time. The reason I gave them a hard time was I was told on a Friday they would upload the paper work and get the process started they did not. After I told them I was calling the home warranty place he threatened me and told me if I did he would not do the work. I did call the home warranty they called him at that point they changed the diagnosis so that It would take more time to get the repair completed since I had to get another company to come out and check the problem. read more

If I could give this a negative rating I would give it a negative 10 out of 10!!!! The only positive review here is probably from someone who was paid to say those things. " Brenden " was also the dispatched technition who, in this case did not help what so ever. He basically pleaded the 5th with any question I had for him, told me "ma'am all I do is write this up and hand it in". In fact he saw the sleeping arrangements that were in place during his inspection where my 9 year old and I had to resort to the basement to sleep with one of us on a stack of blankets as a bed with multiple fans in place to keep cool during the heat. The unit that was under inspection had a new capacitor placed and was still not cooling the house, in fact everyday with the exception of 2, the unit would shut down. I was advised by someone unrelated to this company a technique to cool down the compressor. This patchwork has been in place for this past week. I am told by the home warranty company that the report from Brenden at GSSN states my compressor is running at high amperage due to the heat outside. Well, whoever would've thought that??!! When I called to discuss this with GSSN, "Duke" was very quick to tell me that he was "not going to get technical" when describing what exactly "high amperage" entailed. He states that due to the heat outside (91^F) that naturally the compressor pulls more amps to compensate, and my unit was pulling more than industry standard based on the relative heat for that particular day. Now I may be just a dumb female, which I believe is why I was told no "technical" details, but I think I can understand the basics, 91 degrees is relatively normal for this area and time of year, and I did not have this problem last year with an equal amount, if not more heat. So if the amps are pulling in excess for what would be considered normal industry standard for this unit, then wouldn't that unit be considered improperly functioning and thus needing to be replaced for causing a higher power usage? He was very defensive when I mentioned my issue with the home warranty not wanting to pay for anything, and then quite forthcoming by explaining that 99% of that business was paid from home warranty companies. It's clear to me now that this conversation I had with "Duke" was most likely recorded and that they solely work through home warranty claims. When I explained to him that I need to water down the unit each day (my patchwork previously mentioned) to get it to function, he stated he was not going to "lie or fudge the report" in an attempt to get it fixed. My response was "I never asked you to do that!" I just want to understand why 'high amperage' is not eligible for a fix or replacement. I also had to resort to yelling that "I was not done speaking" as he continuously talked over my comments and concerns. I have not been able to talk with anyone from the home warranty, hold times are in excess of 45 minutes. Eventually, when I get a hold of someone, I will let them know that this company as well as they, are going to get a negative rating through the BBB, as well as this one due to the lack of concern, belittling, and crooked operation they run! read more
