My son searched for a train store while we were in the area and found this. This place was one of the most organized train shops I have seen. He bought a used Lionel transformer and an HO Doodlebug Trolley labeled as DNW (Does Not Work). As it turns out the gears had old grease on it that I was able to clean up. He now has a working transformer and trolley. All for $20 so a super great deal from a very friendly staff. Thank you for making a child continue to love trains. read more

I ordered an MTH Great Northern Stock Car SKU: 20-94520. The photo shows and orange and green colored car (See photo 1), a color combination my wife and I both liked. I received the car, but it was orange and black. The road number,55329, did not match the road number on the car from his web page, 55327. (See photo 2.) I asked for a recommended resolution and was told that the web page picture can be inaccurate because the "The color of this particular car is the only way MTH produced it. Unfortunately colors can change from original computer images used in the catalogs and manufacturer's websites." And "The number is not mentioned because we go by the Sku# when selling the car unless you specify a certain RD# you are after. " So, the bottom line is that it's MTH's fault for the wrong picture and it's my fault for not specifying the road number that is pictured on his web page. I followed up with an email asking for him to refund $59.90 to my credit card. After a couple emails I called Joe Grzyboski (I guess the owner?) at his suggestion. He repeated what he said in the emails but finally agreed to "put this behind" him and provide a refund. I requested a prepaid mailing label and he provided that. When I received the refund notice from PayPal, it was for $45, not $59.90. (Just today I emailed Mr. Grzyboski about why the amount was less than the $59.90. (It's even less that the web page price of $49.95.) I also notice that Mr. Grzyboski's web page has now been corrected to show the black and orange car (See photo 5.) At least I can feel good about others seeing what they will actually get. I understand that Mr. Grzyboski is in business to make money. You should understand that if you have a problem with an order from GrzyboskiTrains.com, that you may not get the resolution you believe you deserve. read more

I dropped of a Lionel 1033 Transformer to be repaired and told the counter person to call me if the repair was more than a few dollars. Well the next and ONLY phone call I got was the repair was done and the cost was $70. He had no explanation was why I never received a phone call. These transformers can be purchased used for half that amount and, in fact, there was one for sale in the store for $79. Maybe since the holiday season is over and business is slow the store needs the money but I don't think that is anyway to treat a customer. Or should I say ex-customer. read more

I'm a local but new to the business which has been around for decades while most others locally (and nationally) have closed. Retail space is amazing and their stock of inventory is awesome with all sorts of new and used but well cared for products, including just about any train hobbyist accessory you could imagine. It's a step back into a different time. I loved browsing and really needed repair services. Their repair service fixed my family's 1958 Lionel No. 56, 1958 Lionel 68, and 1938 Marx 4177 engine that now all run great. The Marx train hadn't run in about 40 years. Joe was incredibly fair, even gave me a cost break for purchasing both units together. I placed my order on a Monday, he advised they would ship by weeks-end. I stopped in to buy something train themed for a birthday. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, guiding me through the store's large inventory and helping me find two train cars that fit my uncle's tastes. I am amazed at the selection of train cars out there. I could guess that there were going to be Coke, Peanuts, and circus cars. The military memorial cars were just one of the things to surprise to me. I like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier one, a place I have visited very often. I might have to go back and get it. Don't buy from this company. Here is why I will not buy from them again. I bought an item that came defective. I paid to ship it back and they would not pay me back for my shipping expense to them. So I get a defective item that they send out and then I have to pay to ship it back to them? Not right. It wasn't my fault I received a damaged item. They are responsible to send out non-defective items. Of course, sometimes this happens but someone I would do business with will cover my expenses to get it right. Let me be succinct, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS. I just got back from the TCA York Train show, the biggest in the country. I asked Joe Sr. if he would take $35 for a train he had listed at $40. This old crotchety bastard verbally jumps on me with a scowl on his face saying "you guys always come over here and always want a discount. We don't make that much on these cars so the price is $40, take it or leave it". First of all, this is a train show, he should expect that people will naturally want to dicker a bit, especially since train values have decreased so much over the last couple of years. Second, if you really don't like being at the show or speaking with people, maybe it's time to retire. Let your son's take over, they seems to be a little more reasonable. If Joe had just said "No, we can't sell it for that" I would have been ok with that. But don't jump on me and give me a ration of shit because you don't like the model train business any longer. In any event, I will never purchase another train from Gryzboski's again. I've bought from them from time to time in the past and never really felt good about any of the purchases because Joe Sr. never appreciates business that is brought to him. NEVER AGAIN. I use to make 2 visits a year to the shop and drop at least $ 100 or more per visit. NOT NO MORE! On my last visit I had over $100 worth of merchandise on the counter. No one was waiting on me. Mr.G and another person were in the back. I yelled for Mr.G to come out of the back. He came out and said "Hey, I got mail orders to do" and sat his butt down by the computer. After minutes of being totally ignored, I said "I got to go." I left everything on the counter and haven't been back since. read more
