    Western Omelette

Delicious breakfast close to my friend's house who lives in Saint Augustine. When I looked up on Yelp grumpy came up as one of the top spots for breakfast and we were not disappointed. The choices were perfect, and everybody enjoyed their Dish. One of our friends got the western omelette, somebody else got the biscuits and gravy and my friend and I split the huge seafood omelette and it was brought on two plates already split for us. The food was delicious.

The whole family went for a pre- Fathers day breakfast since I have to work on Fathers day. It was a very mellowing experience. We all sat at the community table which seats 10 people. I arrived a 9:30 am since Grumpys does not accept reservations. The hostess accomodated us when the entire party was present. It was good conversation and we all had mixed reviews about the food. Chicken and waffles were the star! On the hand the cheese grits had weevils present. The grits were not a not a good look. Our server was ok. The surf and turf omelet was not a fan favorite either but edible. Nice atmosphere and kid friendly with coloring plates mates and crayon Also, while waiting, a mini coffee and water hole is there for the taking. Grumpys was one of the first breakfast spot alone on the Westside in Jacksonville. I like the Grumpys in St Johns county. There is also a location near the beach I have yet to try! Thanks, Grumpys for a pre- fathers day I will never forget!

Visited here on the recommendation of someone local, and we were very pleased we did! The style of the restaurant is like modern warehouse, and it's cute--maybe a bit loud. We were in the front and it was hard to hear the excellent music. There is also outside dining for when the weather is nice. Our server was MJ. She was very helpful in making our selection. She was efficient, and very attentive. I ordered the corned beef hash with home fried potatoes and everything was cooked just as I requested. My cranberry mimosa was excellent as well. Coffee was good and stayed full and hot. My husband had the ham steak with eggs and toast. The orange juice tasted like it was fresh-squeeze, full of delicious pulp. Both dishes were massive portions and we will be having Grumpy's again tomorrow! Excellent choice for breakfast. Lunch at other tables looked great, too.

I have been to this franchise prior for a breakfast a few times, always a great meal, great service and value. This time I had a lunch, first time. Ordered a Philly Steak w/fries and partner got a veg omelette. The omelette was ordered with no tomatoes in omelette but asked for fresh on side, server, Kyle I believe , wrote it down and confirmed, sign of a good server. When delivered it had tomatoes in and cooked, which he immediately noticed and offered another to be made, but due to fact how busy place was, decided to opt for some fresh on side be brought out. My Philly, mind you I was not expecting a huge sub like at a sub shop, but will say was a lil disappointed when it came out, on a roll not much larger than a standard size like of a hot dog roll, I will say was a lil disappointed"underwhelmed". It was a proper sub roll style, just a bit smaller than expected. When opened to add pepper, that's when was surprised to see, maybe 1-2oz of Philly steak inside, very little and way overcooked pepper/onion adding and a little cheese, barely. The side of fries, usually a decent amount, was like a child size, pics added. The flavor was good, just light on everything. The sub/fries was a $15 plate, and for that much I was expecting a much better portion than what was delivered, sadly, left there not really satisfied for what was paid for what was delivered. Have always had a great experience at all three of the Grumpy's I have been to, this just wasn't a great food experience. Place is very open, bright and welcoming as well as all workers very attentive and always smiling, that makes for a great dining experience. Only building issue I noticed, gotta get those AC vents cleaned/serviced. They are often overlooked by management but alls yah need to do, is look up to see... I won't stop going there as we enjoy the breakfast always, maybe have to try another lunch option.

Great experience. It was a tad noisy inside so we ate on the patio. My 3 egg custom omelet was awesome and I have the home fries inside it. Grits were perfect. Love the Metro-Farmhouse vibe.

Build your own omelette with home fries and wheat toast.

It was our first time in Grumpys...seems very popular and keep in mind there is a decent wait 30mins or so if you plan to go at least over the weekend. You will get coffee whilst you wait tho! Kam our server was great and food was pretty good. Coffee is nice and not on the strong side which I like personally.

Eva was an amazing waitress! The kitchen could follow instructions that she writes on the ticket like when you say well done hashbrowns, and they are still raw in the middle. There are not well done. Poor Eva went back to them twice about these hashbrowns and they were still raw in the middle. Yeah, avocado toast is mostly toast with very little avocado. I would recommend that you skip that. The food is generally really good. It's just that the kitchen needs to pay attention, especially when you have to wait as long as you do at this restaurant and pay as much as you do at this restaurant.

Wonderful local breakfast and lunch establishment. Suzana did an outstanding job taking care of us. The ambiance is social gathering and spaces for couples also. The food has excellent flavor and the coffee is exceptional.

Despite us going during a busy time, their method for keeping guests queued was fairly put together! Keep in mind, their intercom only projects to the breezeway outside the front door, so if you're waiting inside, keep an eye on the hostess stand. With it being as cold as it sporadically has been, the outside seating was delightfully warmed to keep us comfortable throughout our experience; I almost took off my jacket even! We placed our orders for a split-plate style experience and our dishes were perfectly suited for this. However, it seems that the request for two Au Jus' was a bit of a curveball for them, as the plates arrived 5 minutes after the mains were delivered to the table. Drinks will help that, though, and the Cold Brew Cocktails were wonderful and not overly sweet with our request of light whipped cream (: Once everything came together, it was ready set go! This was my first visit to any Grumpy's location and boy was I sold! The vegetable medley was so surprisingly refreshing with the addition of cooked cabbage. As the spice hound that I am, the Fried Chicken Benedict was a light heat, but ever so pleasant. The green bean side sang to my southern heart with the addition of a savory bacon presence and note. If you're all about sauce, maybe request more of the Spicy Hollandaise, as that did seem to be on the lighter side. The French dip was an absolute winner for me though! The Au Jus was absolutely DRINKABLE; the perfect blend of bold and comforting for this sandwich. Wait staff was warm and present throughout and I have no complaints, as it seems there's one server per the entire porch-side. Overall 10/10 will visit again!

Finally tried Grumpy's on a Sunday morning. Super busy and people lined up inside and outside even with the pouring rain. The wait wasn't too bad for two people. Got seated at their outside covered patio. Even with it busy, our server was attentive and checked in multiple times and refilled my coffee at least 3 times. I ordered Grumpy's big breakfast with pumpkin pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links and grits with cheese. It came with coffee. The pumpkin pancakes were delicious without all the stuff they topped it with. I don't like candy corn and didn't think it was necessary so I scraped it off. The eggs were decent and the grits were tasty. I added salt and pepper to both. Sausages were just ok, nothing special. Love the diner vibes and menu options. Will go again to try other items!

Grumpy's Restaurant in St. Johns, FL is a solid breakfast spot . I ordered the fried chicken Benedict--flavorful overall, though the chicken was slightly bitter this time. The pancake, however, completely stole the show: fluffy, golden, and delicious! . The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and bright, with high ceilings that make it feel comfortable and open. Friendly service and a strong breakfast menu make Grumpy's a go-to for brunch lovers .

Order the giant pancake for the table, so fun! I wanted one of everything from the menu. The fresh squeezed OJ is a game changer! Very entertaining sitting at the bar watching to communication among the kitchen and front of house. Awesome local spot!

Clean restaurant, decent food and great service. We sat outside as the indoor seating was pretty crowded. My fried green tomato Benedict was very good though the hollandaise was a wee bit broken. Still was delicious. My husband ordered a standard breakfast plate with over light eggs. It arrived with hard scrambled eggs but to the waitress' credit, she ordered an over light even though my husband said not to worry about it. Great service here. We will return if we're ever in the area again.

Now, this location has a slightly different menu than the one in Savannah but still has a few of their popular dishes such as the Treylor Park Nachos Grande, Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, PB&J Wings, and Treylor Park Pot Pie! I always order the Treylor Park Nachos... it's a massive tray of waffle fries plus a healthy amount of toppings such as pickles, fried chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese with chive ranch & balsamic gastrique. I mean it's a meal of WAFFLE FRIES with enough for myself, to share, and leftovers for when I get home from the drive there! LOL! The Treylor Park Pot Pie is really good too. It's basically chicken pot pie filling in a fried burrito with some pico de gallo on top. My friends ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes... which she loved and was a first for me. Verdict: I liked them. This location is pretty good but it's still not quite as good as the original location; however, I would still recommend giving this place a try.

I think it may have been Morgan (she had red hair). My daughter was recouping from having her tonsils and adenoids removed, so softer food that weren't spicy were items that we were looking for. This waitress knew the menu well and offered very helpful suggestions. She really went above and beyond trying to suggest and think of which dish would be best given my daughter's limitations. Our appetizer (Spinach and Artichoke Dip) was on the table in a timely manner and very good. (I didn't take a photo) Our meal arrived quickly and the presentation was very nice. I had the cheeseburger sliders. They were decent. I had a Sprite and she just had ice water. My daughter had chicken tenders with sweet potato fries and a special sweet dipping sauce that our thoughtful waitress suggested. I can't say much about the tenders as my daughter's viewpoint may not be fair given she is recouping from surgery. The sweet dip our waitress suggested was surprisingly delicious. We also had a side of hush puppies. The hush puppies were "so so", but in fairness to the establishment, it's not really a highlighted item on the menu, it was just a "side" that sounded good to us. My "Hang-Up" with "Walk-Ons" was that it was what I would consider pretty pricey given what we ordered. Our bill was $51 without tip. Pros: Excellent service, knowledgeable and friendly waitress, atmosphere. Cons: Price was on the high side given the menu items that we chose. Our conclusion was that it's likely a fun place to watch a game and have an appetizer/drinks with friends.

You're getting 4, 12oz margaritas all of which are different (spicy) flavors. Looks at the menu for what to get as my entree was was a lot of options I don't normally see and they sounded very good but I had to go with my staple just to she who Pepper's compares to other Mexican restaurants in the area so I went with the California Burrito with Steak. They also had it available to add shrimp for $3 so I did that too. The burrito was huge and stuffed with steak and honestly more shrimp then I expected. The steak was very tender but I wish it and the shrimp were more seasoned. I will say the shrimp were on the small side but when it's $3 that's not bad. Ashley got the a 3 Item combo one of which was a Chile Relleno and this was so good. She loved it and really changed the game for her. We will for sure be coming back. Next time hopefully for Taco Tuesday!

Sometimes the best restaurant experiences happen when you are not planning them…read more We stopped into Pepper's Cocina Mexicana & Tequila Bar in St. Johns simply looking for a drink and ended up discovering a lively local restaurant that clearly has a lot going for it. The first thing we noticed was the atmosphere. The dining room is open, colorful, and festive, but it also has a polished feel that elevates the experience a bit beyond the typical casual Mexican restaurant. It felt energetic without being overwhelming. Since we were just stopping in for drinks, we focused on exploring their tequila selection. Pepper's has a respectable tequila list, and one interesting surprise was their house tequila. The tequila itself was smooth and very enjoyable. The bottle label could use a little marketing help, but the spirit inside is excellent. We liked it enough to buy a bottle to take home. For food we ordered the Flaming Queso Dip, which turned out to be a fun and flavorful appetizer. It arrived bubbling hot and was finished with a flame presentation that added a nice smoky depth to the dish. Rich, creamy, and perfect for sharing. Service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We did not stay for dinner this time, but based on the atmosphere, drinks, and appetizer quality we are already planning a return visit to explore the full menu. If you enjoy Mexican restaurants with great energy, strong tequila options, and shareable appetizers, Pepper's is definitely worth checking out.

It's a Metro Diner so generally speaking everything is good. I was here for a late-ish breakfast…read morewhile killing time. Good service (Thank you, Matthew!) It is a new place as everything is in St. John's. Clean and well-lighted. My only real gripe was that I ordered a 3-egg breakfast platter and the amount of scrambled eggs was 1.5 at best. Certainly not three. I did not bring it to my server's attention. But the server should be checking this sort of thing before he leaves for the table. Pet peeve of many breakfast restaurants in N.E. Florida... why does no one butter the toast in the kitchen before serving it? Is it a law or health code thing? Do I need to ask them to butter the toast?Somebody please advise. Thanks.

My good buddy bezos last night decided it was a great idea to drink a bunch and then take 5…read moreshotguns at around 4am. The other part of the group also drank their life away, and because of this you always need to go to a diner the next day. It was a pleasant afternoon.. the birds were chirping, the sky was partly cloudy, and the wind felt cool. The group stumbled on Metro Diner which looked very appealing! We were told by a couple nice people that it was only a 15 minute wait which was perfectly fine so we went to Publix and bought a couple things. When we came back we were seated outside with a friendly waiter who got us going right away. The ogre kept saying how she wanted fried chicken and waffles, but then got nervous because it was 2000 calories.. like what? "You're on vacation just get the chicken and waffles." She was already overweight anyways so why not add more fuel to the fire. Anyways onto what we got! Me: egg scramble bowl with avocado and bacon. And oatmeal with fruit My good Buddy Bezos: burger bowl Doctor Bs wife: avocado egg sandwich thing Tragic: your classic eggs, toast, sausage, homefried The heaviest girl ever: Belgian waffle and some fruit? Okay pause.. how do you go from I WANT CHICKEN AND WAFFLES to mmm I'll have a waffle and some fruit! Okay anyways onto the reviews of the food itself! Doctor Bs wife: Really good Tragic: Mid Ogre: My eggs tasted like the were sitting out a while, the waffle wasn't hot but still good and I wish it was warmer and the butter was hard and cold My good buddy bezos: actually he was in the shower so I didn't get his review, but I know he liked it, that burger bowl actually looked good. Me: Yeah I mean I am a sucker for scrambled bowl with hollandaise sauce, I definitely have had way better, but the taste was there. I would like to add that I basically finished my entire meal before tragic or the wife got theirs. It will be shown in the photos below. I tried to be polite and wait, but after 5 minutes without their food showing up I had to eat I was starving. It's kind of crazy to me that me ogre and my good buddy bezos were first. I would think that the classic plate of tragics would be easy, as well as the sandwich because it's just the same stuff in my bowl just between bread somewhat. I enjoyed the ambiance and the feel of the place for sure. The music that was playing was also enjoyable, so initially I was at a three but because of those factors along with the fact that I did somewhat like my food more than the others (which is rare) and don't feel terrible after that's why we stand at a four. I would like to clarify every place has its own rating system. Like you cannot compare a fancy restaurant to a diner although they are still deemed a 4 on my page. Sorry anyways, the prices were also really reasonable and we had a good time. Maybe next year when we are back around here we will come back! It was good!
