The service department of Grubbs is unprofessional. Shelby Gibbs called and left me a message saying she "needed to discuss my car". I immediately called her back because I was concerned. It was actually just an ethically questionable tactic to get me on the phone to give her a five star review. She also offered me a $100 gift card to give her a five star review. I had no issues with my recent service, so I agreed. One week later, I reached out to see when I would get the gift card and heard nothing. Messages, calls, voicemails later, she finally told me her manager was working on it. And then, no response again. Still no updates weeks later. Maybe because she knew she promised something she shouldn't have...who knows. My last message to her expressed my frustration with being ignored. No response to that--shocker! At this point it was the principle--I did what she asked, and they didn't follow through and ignored my repeated inquiries. I also emailed the service manager, Mitchell Shutter, to express my frustration with being ignored--no response. That's even more offensive than Shelby not responding as he's in charge of the whole department. Mitchell, I hope you read this. I'm taking this as an easy lesson from the universe that I should never go back to Grubbs (even though I bought my car there) and get service at Volvo West Houston instead. Such a stupid way to lose a customer...they literally just need to acknowledge me. Take it on the chin--an important skill in customer service. This is my third Volvo, and this is my first bad experience with Volvo (Momentum and Austin Volvo were always great). I will note that the man who sold me the car, Bryan Passmore, is very nice and responsive. Maybe he should teach a remedial class for the service team. BUYERS BEWARE -- FRAUDULENT & DECEPTIVE EXPERIENCE I'm writing this on behalf of my niece, J. Lomax, who had an incredibly frustrating and suspicious experience with Grubbs Volvo Central Houston. Jeanette purchased a vehicle out of state, and from the very beginning, the process was a mess. What was supposed to be a brand-new car with 15 miles on it showed up a week late, with thousands of miles already on it, scratches on the exterior, and incomplete or missing paperwork. The lack of communication from the dealership was alarming, and the service representative omitted critical details throughout the purchase process. To make matters worse, the very same day she drove the car, the check engine light came on, and the vehicle had to be towed to the nearest Volvo dealership. That wasn't the end of it. A week later, another engine code appeared, and the car had to be towed again and kept for nearly a week. When she attempted to complete a smog check (a requirement for out-of-state purchases), the car failed. She then went to the local DMV to get an extension on the temporary tag and was unable to do so due to missing paperwork. Jeanette contacted Grubbs Volvo, and they promised to overnight the paperwork--that was over a week ago. Still nothing. This entire situation is riddled with poor customer service, false promises, and borderline fraudulent behavior. It's highly suspicious and could fall under lemon law violations. This is not how you treat customers--especially those buying a vehicle sight unseen, trusting your brand and your word. If you're thinking of buying from Grubbs Volvo Central Houston, think twice. Dear Grubbs Volvo Management Team, I am writing to formally report an extremely unprofessional and disappointing experience I had with one of your salesmen, Christopher Lewis, regarding a scheduled appointment to view a 2017 Volvo XC90. Last week, I scheduled an appointment with Christopher, and he contacted me several times leading up to the visit to reassure me that the XC90 was ready, prepped, and waiting for my test drive. Based on his repeated assurances, I drove to the dealership on Saturday in the pouring rain -- fully prepared to purchase and even bringing cash in hand. In 2025, very few customers bring cash to a dealership, and doing so should have made it clear that I was serious, motivated, and ready to buy immediately. When I arrived, Christopher told me to "give him 10 minutes." Those 10 minutes turned into 45 minutes of waiting outside with absolutely no follow-up, no communication, and no professionalism from him. He never returned to update me. Instead, another salesman, John, had to inform me that the XC90 I came for had already been sold -- something Christopher should have communicated upfront, especially after guaranteeing that the vehicle was ready. Nearly three hours later, Christopher finally came outside and attempted to show me a different vehicle I never inquired about. At that point, it was clear that I had been misled and my time had been completely wasted. The dealership building is beautiful, but the behavior of the sales team -- especially Christopher Lewis -- reflects poorly on Grubbs Volvo. The lack of communication, urgency, and professionalism was unacceptable. This experience has completely turned me off from purchasing a vehicle at your dealership. I am bringing this to your attention because no customer, especially one ready to buy, should ever be treated this way. Terrible experience. I paid them almost $5000 to install an electric panel in my Volvo because the windows and gas gauge were not working. I was told this would solve the problem. It took them a month to figure out how to install the panel and get it to work. Now, two months later, the windows and gas gauge don't work again. I took it back to them and they want another $1500 to fix the issue again. They tried to tell me it was a completely new issue. I told them they needed to fix it at no cost because they obviously didn't fix the problem the first time. They refused and told me to pick up my car. What is particularly upsetting is that if you listen to their message while you are on hold, they want you to feel like you are important and that you matter to them. You don't. Do not buy here and certainly don't get service here. I gave them one star because there was nothing lower. read more
